Also, besser informieren! Aber schlimmer ist doch, dass hier in Deutschland anscheinend so ein negatives Bild des eigenen Landes vermittelt wird. :(
You really should appreciate it more, I hear it a lot from Germans that they think Germany is not that beautiful or don't offer as much as other countries. But that's not true because Germany is really beautiful and has so much to offer.
Safe is a place if your children from first or 2nd grade on can go to school by foot - alone or with a friend to a public school, cause private schools are just for a tiny percentage. And education is free, even for "non performers" so you don't have to pay fees to your highschool or University except 500€ per 6 months for a free public transportation + cheap healthcare insurance that covers everything from accident to hospital.
*Free at the cost of up to 55% of your paycheck **Within schools whose standards and results have suffered quite severely and drastically during the past couple of decades ***Within hospitals that are causing up to 20,000 avoidable deaths per year due to doctors and underpaid nurses not washing their hands between patients among others
I've been living in Germany for 20 years now and couldn't possibly imagine moving back to the US. You captured the essence well! I love all the people, young and old on bikes. And walking or riding to shop and do errands. And the art of enjoying free time!
3:00 these are called "Hochsitz" in German. And you were right, they are build so that hunters can sit up there and wait for the deer to come out from the forest.
They are important for hunters because Germany is so densely populated that you can never be sure that there aren't some hikers anywhere around where you don't see them that could be hit by a stray shot (unless the area has been secured for a driving hunt). Thus it is madatory to only take a shot at game from one of those elevated seats, so that in case you miss, the path of the bullet will be at a downwards angle and hit the ground fast instead of potentially flying a long way further into the woods as it would do if you fired the shot from the same level of elevation than the target.
i'm german and i life in a beautiful little town, Landsberg am Lech, with an old medieval center and from time to time i do really need to get reminded, how beautiful it is here. When you see this every day, you became blind for it. So, thank you!
Man, this video really made me appreciate Europe and especially Germany so much! Thank you for your amazing words and reminding all of us how beautiful our homeland is! And i love how you got so many and different aspects of Germany in this Video. Its really amazing!
My wife and I absolutely live your videos, we are moving to Germany soon, in fact we are going to graf as well. So we started watching your videos and have started mapping out our stay using the videos you have made. We hope to meet up with both of you sometime as well and share a beer with you two. Please keep making your videos as we will continue to watch. Thanks for finding your new passion and sharing it with us.
If your coming to Graf, I'm sure we'll run into each other. I feel very satisfied with comments like these because that gives me a great reason to make these videos. Glad they help at least some people. Thanks for the comment and maybe we'll see ya soon.
What a great video with beautiful views! I'm German and haven't lived in Germany for around 6 years. I never appreciated my home country especially its people. The longer I live abroad the more I now miss the German people and the sincerity, the awkward sense of humour and directness.
Very pleasantly surprised that Americans, who stayed here for more than a few days, love our country ! This also speaks for you, your open mind and taking time to discover.
First thing, the green plants are a kind of canola. They are especially grown through the winter to protect the ground and are thought to improve the amount of nitrate going into our water. The second one, the wooden chair is for hunting. We have a big overpopulation of deers and boars.
@Hauke Holst still ...boars especially are extremely destructive to land. We have a HUGE problem with them in many parts here in Texas. I hate that killing them is the way to get rid of them .... but it is what it is. :(
In our area we have big problems with boars but it seems they are to clever for the hunters. I have seen hunters spending two weeks each night waiting for the boars to get out of the forest just to find the complete corn field destroyed the day after the stopped doing it.
the "green plant" on that field is canola or "Winterraps" in German. It will bloom yellow next May/June and will be harvestet next August. It's beside Wheat and Corn one of the most important cash crops for farmers here in Europe. It will be seeded till late August every year!
Another amazing video by one of the best "foreign" vloggers living in germany! I am really impressed by the progress you´ve made in just a couple of months with filming and editing your videos. I liked you right from the start and saw your first videos a few days after you moved into "your" house, I subscribed when I saw you playing RDR2. The video from the cologne carnival was the first that let me raise my eyebrows because of it´s slightly surreal touch/ideas/editing and I realized that you are a really creative, inspiring and adventurous guy, and Andrew...in the following months you´ve really delivered little masterpieces. I totally fell in love with your channel, you as a person and your beautiful wife and the way you go out to discover and experience new territory, capture your little adventures on film and transform them with your creativity and skills into little video masterpieces to share them with us. Thank you very much for your channel, the time you put into these amazing videos and for the smile you put on my face while watching them.
LOL, I think I remember you commenting that you subscribed immediately after you saw RDR2. Maybe I should show more video games to help my subscriber count ;) Anyway thanks for the love! I enjoy taking time with my videos to make them as high quality as I possibly could. Better than just talking in front of a camera in my opinion.
Thanks Andrew, I appreciate your video. We Germans think that we are the bad guys but looking at your videos living in Germany is a privilege. Enjoy your time in Germany.
Through you travelers I see our beautiful country with different eyes and it encourages me to look more in my own country. I have traveled to many countries around the world but through these videos I learn a lot about my own country.
I live near Amsterdam. I've been to Gernany a couple of times, I speak, undertand and write German language and yes I like that country too. What a very nice video you made, I'm impressed. Follow your passion. You are able to put good feel emotion in a travel blog and that is very special.
Myself and my wife, we lived in many countries because of my job, but my best memories are from my time in Germany. We still visit frequently. Love the nature, love the castles, love the art, and love the people!
Your wonderful video has me so sad, in a good way of nostalgic reminiscence... So many of the places shown I visited myself in the early 90's, have been to Grafenwöhr many times, and what a treat to see it again. So nice you are in a civilized country that fits me so well... Education is valued, true freedom is valued, arts, humanities, science, medicine, efficient transportation and national values, valued... I never gave up on the USA, but in so many ways it seems to have given up on me. It's a madhouse, and I'm willing to bet when you return, you will feel, not simply think the same way. To me the U.S. has a feeling of a tired melancholic decay, perpetual anger and outrage, an abject lack of even the pretense of civility, unkindness as a way of life, education and manners shunned, crazy work/life balance, politics nearing a breaking point, an Emperor without clothes... Even the first time I visited Germany in 1988, it was like I time-traveled 10 years into the future, and I was in awe of just how modern, clean, and amazing it was. Maybe I should go back, and your videos have really touched my spirit I thought perhaps gone. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart, and congratulations on your fine video work. Tschüss
Awe man,I hope you guys don't have to leave just yet. There's so much more to see and discover and to remind locals like myself how beautiful it is here! This video is a declaration of love to Germany, Europe and definitely to your passion of becoming an Amazing Videographer!
Thank you Pool Hawk. It was easy to fall in love with Videography here as I was falling in love with Germany. I want to live this life as long as possible.
As a German teacher, this is a beautiful video I can show my students. Finally a positive wholesome video about Germany. Freiburg all the way!!!! Goosebumps thanks again!!!
Hi Daniel, This comment makes me sad that it's hard to find a "wholesome" video of Germany, but really happy that I can share a positive one with people. This video was from the heart so I'm glad you liked it and that you are sharing it with others.
it looks like the field is full of green cabbage (2:56) "Grünkohl" (a specialty in nothern Germany during wintertime) "Kohl-Touren" are very popular in january-february. You can spot them easily - they are walking around with little carts drinking - sometimes with loud music going for some cabbage fest in the evening. and yes those are for Hunting. (3:00)
I was looking, if someone commented on the plants growing on the field yet. Only found this answer, and i'm pretty sure its not grünkohl (kale). Kale would be at least half a meter high and the leaves would look a little different. Grafenwöhr isn't close to the northern kale regions either. To me it looks like rapeseed. Farmers sow it in august, so it grows to a hardy plant before winter. It also prevents erosion during winter when the fields would be void of plants. And after winter it begins growing in height flowering bright yellow during spring. Seeds are used for pressing oil.
Best promotion video about Germany I’ve ever seen - made by an American who loves Germany! I’m proud and thankful to live in this beautiful country. Thank you for your passion to show a little bit of this beauty in your video!
Yes you do make people feel things. Your videos are absolutely phenomenal. One of my favourite YT channels. You two are very charming. I hope you stay as long as you would like to. Greetings and much love from Hannover.
Thanks Alex. That is a great complement and I'm happy that there are people out there that enjoy the content I make so much. Even if it's just a few people ;)
Thanks for the great video! I lived in Germany in the late 70s and still come back as often as I can because of basically all the same reasons you mentioned. And I get out a walk in the woods for no reason, why? Because that's what you do! Danke!
Thanks for putting out these videos. I'm thinking of taking a couple weeks off in early May, flying from the US and backpacking from Munich, to Prague, to Berlin. I visited Heidelberg last year and my favorite memory was climbing up the bell tower of a church I stumbled across. When I got to the top, it was almost noon so I waited a few minutes. Sure enough, the bells started chiming from my tower, but also from towers across the whole city.
I've never thought about the possibility that people can have the same feeling about my home country that I personally have with Germany. I'm so happy to see you having fun in Germany.
Okay, you just got one more subscriber:)! Great clip, thank`s to remind my in what a wonderful country i live in. Greets from Munich! Keep on the good work;-)!

I love your content and you too to. I hope you stay in Germany for a long time. I can feel, that your passion for filming is growing with every new viedo and I enjoy it very much. So thank you 😘😘😘
Thank you for this beautiful and heartfelt portrait of my home country. I experienced myself in South Africa how much your life is enriched if you embrace another culture and if you are open for people from other parts of the world. It was our pleasure to have you here.
They ought to show this video with subtitles to Germans who have no idea how beautiful, special and interesting their home country is. Some just whine and complain all day and don't see the positives. P.S. I really like the editing job you did here. Fantastic!

It means so much for us, seeing our country through a strangers eyes in such a sympathic way you do!! Thank you very much for your heart-warming videos. You did a great job and you can proudly say: "you made a difference!" Jeanne
Hello Darion here from Florida. I have been enjoying your videos from the beginning. I was in Graf a few months ago. I actually had bought a Coo Coo clock form the mall at the PX there last Oct lol . I had started my You Tube channel with Germany as my content back in Feb 2019.. I even made a video of my time there in Graf last Sept/Oct 2019. I travel to Germany often and I always look forward to my new adventures. I had lived in Germany for six years (Army) and I fell in love with Germany from the start. Enjoy every moment that you have there and I hope to see more of your videos.
Beautiful video as usual. The structure you saw in the woods was a (pretty crappy) „Hochsitz“. It is indeed a seat for hunters to quietly sit, wait for, spot and shoot animals. I‘m not a big fan of hunting either, but it‘s pretty regulated here as far as who can do it and where.
SoOooooo enjoy your videos and hearing how much you have come to love and appreciate Germany. I am especially glad to hear that y'all go to the other countries as well. A lot of people here in the States don't realize how easy it is to do so. I have lived in the Saarland area (Kaiserslautern), the Eifel Area (Bitburg/Trier -- great beer!and fabulous wine), and then in the Grafenwoehr/Vilseck area as well. Love it all so much that I have been back for vacationing a few times (most recently a road trip through Germany and Austria). Prague is on my bucket list! But I always, always always include time in Germany. p.s. we used to spend hours and hours at Hammer Gasthof back in the late '80's in Vilseck. Not sure if it's still there but loved everything about that whole area! Amberg .... Nurneberg ..... etc etc etc Thank you for sharing!
Going skiing in Black Forest next week. I grew up in a military family in the shadow of world war 2 reading comic books and watching war films in which the Germans were the enemy and this video is part of a re education for me.
the high chairs in the woods are for hunters. but if you ever come back to würzburg let me know. i can show you one or two places that not a lot of ppl know about 😉 and if you wanna stay i might can give you some hints where to go and what to do.
What a beautiful video. Yes, Germans love their walks on Sunday and their coffee and cake. Everyone talks about the great beer in Germany, but you can't beat the fantastic bread and cakes you get here. Another aspect you mentioned is the pride that Germans take in skilled crafts which speaks to the long tradition of apprenticeships in the country. I am an American expat and I live about hour from you right outside the city of Erlangen (Mittelfranken). If you like beer check out the Erlangen Bergkirchweih (usually held in May or June). It is one of the largest and longest-running beer festivals in Germany. As it is in Franconia, it has a much different vibe than Oktoberfest in Munich.
I am very happy, that you enjoy your stay in Germany. I've been around the world as well and saw some amazing countries, but Germany is still my fav. There are sadly a lot of bad stereotypes when it comes to Germany. You proove with your video that there are a lot of people - who have never been to Germany - are wrong! Take care and all the best to you! *prost ;-)
Thanks for your great videos. They are perfect! We used to live at Vilseck. And plan to go back to Germany for good in the future. Since I spent some time in that area I can recomend some less known or less common places very close to Grafenwoehr : Burg Breitenstein near Koenigstein, Burgruine Lichtenegg near Amberg, Diskothek Happy Rock whose owner is 91 yrs old and still working there (Kropfersricht), Klosteruine Gnadenberg near Neumarkt i.d. Oberpfalz and Burgruine Wolfenstein. There is is so much to explore. Also can recommend the guided tours of the underground tunnels at Schwandorf (Felsenkellerfuehrung) and for more subculture night life experience in Nuremberg the Club Cult (most of all their event Bloody Night). It is also easy to get in compared to Berghain :-). And most of all people end up going to Wacht Am Rhein for after hour food and social life (opens around 12am and closes at 7am). Then to chill out there is that rustic wooden cabin style restaurant Wirtshaus zur Bleaml Alm. It is only 30min away from Graf and is right across a ski slope (Ochsenkopf) . Have fun! Oh and don't forget the co-ed saunas!
Thank you for reminding me what a beautiful place my home country is!! The grass always seems to be greener on the other side!! Stay blessed and be safe!
I am so glad you got to feel what I have always known. Great video with a great message. I am 100 % German and have visited 16 times. I want to live in what I consider my real homeland, but my wife does not want to leave her family. But she agrees with everything you have said. Prost
I have moved 6.5 years ago to Bavaria, thinking I will be back to my homeland after 2 years. What transpired later, I just fell in love with this place. The amazing nature, culture, history, people, values, quality of life, driving - almost everything is so engrossing! I just wish I could speak the language better :)

That is really awesome that this video made you feel like that. Mission accomplished :)
Thanks for your impression, good to have you here!
Love the way of life here. The US could learn a lot from Germany it seems.
*Free at the cost of up to 55% of your paycheck
**Within schools whose standards and results have suffered quite severely and drastically during the past couple of decades
***Within hospitals that are causing up to 20,000 avoidable deaths per year due to doctors and underpaid nurses not washing their hands between patients among others
I didn't knew your channel before, I'm French an moved to Germany a year ago, I totaly understand you and I hope you'll stay as long as you want to!
Thanks Alain!
1:22 “I can make people feel things!” 7:08 Danke!
I have a plan to study abroad to Germany next year, and this beautiful video makes me study German harder for it!
I've been living in Germany for 20 years now and couldn't possibly imagine moving back to the US. You captured the essence well! I love all the people, young and old on bikes. And walking or riding to shop and do errands. And the art of enjoying free time!
Cheers from Bavaria. You are very welcome here. Everybody treating other people with respect is welcome 🙏.
@@chrisrudolf9839 i did not even know that. Thank you :)
Yes, you are right. We have so many beautiful landscapes and places. We have the mountains and the sea. It makes me happy, that you like it.
i'm german and i life in a beautiful little town, Landsberg am Lech, with an old medieval center and from time to time i do really need to get reminded, how beautiful it is here. When you see this every day, you became blind for it. So, thank you!
I love that I can help remind you of what you have. We should all try to appreciate our lives more every day in my opinion.

Hi Andrew,
great video, really! Thank you very much for talking so nice about my country! Greetings from Werl (North rine Westphalia.
Man, this video really made me appreciate Europe and especially Germany so much! Thank you for your amazing words and reminding all of us how beautiful our homeland is! And i love how you got so many and different aspects of Germany in this Video. Its really amazing!
Glad you liked it so much Justin. Thank you for the comment!
Wow you totally made me remember how beautiful our country is 😌
Thank you, made my day and very homesick....
Terrific video. I have lived in Germany for 15 years now, and everything you say about the way of life is true.
You already have a German name, so that's something :D
Enjoy your stay here in germany :-) Welcome :-)

@@markusadanitsch648 are you drunk? Nothing of this sort happens here, only in the brains(?) of right-wing neonazis
What a great video with beautiful views! I'm German and haven't lived in Germany for around 6 years. I never appreciated my home country especially its people. The longer I live abroad the more I now miss the German people and the sincerity, the awkward sense of humour and directness.
I studied abroad in Germany for a year and fell in love with the country and its people. I will return to study in Germany again later this year!
Rare piece of honest reflection without running the risk of being superficial or even artificial. Well done. Cheers from Switzerland.
Thanks Andreas :)
Thank you for loving Germany the way you do. I am so glad you got to stay and make this beautiful video.
Thanks for the information :)
at least they taste good ;)
In our area we have big problems with boars but it seems they are to clever for the hunters.
Great Video 👌
Nice Editing/Clips/Sounddesign/... Keep Up this great work
very positive video - I like it how you appreciate the little things!
What a balanced video full of joy! I clearly feel your passion. Videography is top-notch. Very nice work.
I totally fell in love with your channel, you as a person and your beautiful wife and the way you go out to discover and experience new territory, capture your
little adventures on film and transform them with your creativity and skills into little video masterpieces to share them with us.
The moment when a US citizen shows you how beautiful your country is. Thanks! You are always welcome.
Thank you for reminding us of our beautiful country. tell your mates that all of you are welcome here
I live near Amsterdam. I've been to Gernany a couple of times, I speak, undertand and write German language and yes I like that country too. What a very nice video you made, I'm impressed. Follow your passion. You are able to put good feel emotion in a travel blog and that is very special.
Kind words, thanks!
Thanks for the love Carey ;)
Hi Andrew
Was ein schönes Video. Vielen Dank und noch viel Spaß.
Viele Grüße aus Ostfriesland.
Björn
We enjoy your videos a lot. You have embraced and taken advantage of your travels. We love Germany so much.
Thank you for your positivity! Hope you see many more places in Germany in the next years.
You always welcome. Regards from Lüneburg,
it looks like the field is full of green cabbage (2:56) "Grünkohl" (a specialty in nothern Germany during wintertime) "Kohl-Touren" are very popular in january-february. You can spot them easily - they are walking around with little carts drinking - sometimes with loud music going for some cabbage fest in the evening. and yes those are for Hunting. (3:00)
Thanks for the info. I always appreciate the informative people on this Channel.
That sounds like a hell of a journey! Wish you the best.
put Hamburg on your list, too. You´ll gonna like it.
@@breehornsailor1193 Alright, you've convinced me.
thank you for this beautiful video, also the choice of music and your voice is really beautiful - made me emotional
I've never thought about the possibility that people can have the same feeling about my home country that I personally have with Germany. I'm so happy to see you having fun in Germany.
Do you know how many Germans really are in love with Norway? Me and many of my friends too.
Lemme join either. From poorest of the poors, with anger.
@@myrthe66 Really? I've never heard that too be honest, but thanks a lot! (Takk!) :)

Okay, you just got one more subscriber:)! Great clip, thank`s to remind my in what a wonderful country i live in. Greets from Munich! Keep on the good work;-)!
To be honest... it's true. Sometimes you forget about what you have. Yes, Germany is a safe country with great people and a beautiful landscape. Thank's for reminding me.
Thank you so much for this lovely video and your beautiful and kind words about germany.
You're welcome Maria :)
I love your content and you too to. I hope you stay in Germany for a long time. I can feel, that your passion for filming is growing with every new viedo and I enjoy it very much. So thank you 😘😘😘
Hi Mezu, I hope we get to stay here too. I always appreciate your comments on many of my videos.
Love the video and your positive vibe! Great reminder for my American wife and me to appreciate what we have here. Keep up the great work!
Goosebumps. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this beautiful and heartfelt portrait of my home country. I experienced myself in South Africa how much your life is enriched if you embrace another culture and if you are open for people from other parts of the world. It was our pleasure to have you here.
That is very kind :) It's a pleasure to be here. Thank you for being one of many warm and welcoming people.
Another awesome job on this video. I hope you can finish your 3 years assignment in germany, so we get more videos from you exploring europe.
I hope so too. Either way, I won't stop making videos :) Thank you for being here.
I lived in Germany for 4 years. I miss all the beautiful trails all over the place and the vibes there. So much better than the states.
They ought to show this video with subtitles to Germans who have no idea how beautiful, special and interesting their home country is. Some just whine and complain all day and don't see the positives.
P.S. I really like the editing job you did here. Fantastic!
Hi, watching your videos make me realize that we live in a kind of paradise but can´t see it any more. Thank you for open up our eyes again. It means so much for us, seeing our country through a strangers eyes in such a sympathic way you do!! Thank you very much for your heart-warming videos. You did a great job and you can proudly say: "you made a difference!"
Jeanne
Thank you Jeanne! That truly means a lot :)
Thanks for being here once again. It's easy to fall in love with Germany isn't it?
@@filmsmith Absolutely!!!! I cant wait till my next trip in a few months. That would be cool to meet up at the PX in Graf .
I love my country, but is so fantastic, to see my country with your eyes! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the comment and for the info. Glad you liked the video :)
Thank you Andrew! Sometimes we forget what we have and should appreciate. Hope you're still having a good time in Germany!
It's obvious why anyone would want to stay living here isn't it? I'm glad you enjoy the video! I'll keep them coming for ya :)
Going skiing in Black Forest next week. I grew up in a military family in the shadow of world war 2 reading comic books and watching war films in which the Germans were the enemy and this video is part of a re education for me.
Love how you say „right next to us“ just like a local would.
instead of „next to this place“ like a tourist.
I agree with everything you've said in this (nicely made) video.. me too man, me too - I love it here and I'm coming up on 10 years here now!!
the high chairs in the woods are for hunters. but if you ever come back to würzburg let me know. i can show you one or two places that not a lot of ppl know about 😉 and if you wanna stay i might can give you some hints where to go and what to do.
I love Würzburg Sebastian, and I'm sure we'll be back eventually. Thanks for the invitation.
You are living near me, I am from Bayreuth. Really nice transitions in that video and thank you for sharing the "culture".
Thank you for sharing Elizabeth. And thanks for the recommendation :)
Germany was the best place I was stationed in the Army. Beautiful country.
I always highly recommend to my American friends to travel internationally. So much to see, learn, experience.. just no words to describe it.. do it!
Thank you for this wonderful video about my home-country. You are a nice guy!
*prost ;-)
Beautiful photography
15 years and counting. I could never go back at this point
You two are really very personable people. I like the way you experience Germany. thank you for your videos.
Dont forget to visit the northern areas of Germany too 🤗 Great Video btw. 👍🏼
Hey Andrew. I'm actually from Germany and I appreciate your perspective towards Germany a lot. You are always welcome!
Sound like all great recommendations! Thank you so much.
Thank you for reminding me what a beautiful place my home country is!!
The grass always seems to be greener on the other side!!
Stay blessed and be safe!
Great video, everything fixes great together. You should have much more viewers and subscribers.

Please come for one time to Switzerland!
I really want to go to Switzerland! Hopefully soon.
Beautiful video. Really making me feel things like you said. 😢
Thanks Juan! Love you bro
