Yep, I did pretty much the same thing except for my vehicle is an F150 so I can haul my bike in the back. I too cut off the 4 way connector and put on a 6 pin connector except that I am going to go with a Readybrake tow bar that has a surge brake in the tow bar. I also will use vacuum pump to keep the front differential from turning on the truck. I will have to install a cable through the firewall but it's a once and done kind of thing and I don't have to lug around a box for the brakes. Keep the good stuff coming.
It was a pretty simple install and works great! We thought about a more permanent braking system but we tend to trade vehicles often do this seemed best suited for us
So funny... I sold our 5th wheel and Chev dually about a month ago. Bought a Class C and just set up my 2016 Wrangler with the exact same tow bar + brake system! And the Jeep is blue! Only diff is mine's a 2 door! Great video- take care!
Nice. I have the same year, make, and model but in black. Love it here in Florida. I use it to tow my Winnebago drop. Very dependable. You guy's rock.👍
@@WanderingWagners I hope you do it. I've been looking into some of the Super Cs and B+ myself. Can't decide which way is going to work best. Would be replacing a 5'er that I just LOVE.
Good choice! We got the Nighthawk last year and totally love it. We went with the Blue Ox on the toad and find the combination of the two work perfect for us. 👍
Nice job Mike! You should take off the plastic fenders and install diamond plate metal instead! JEEP = Just Empty Every Pocket (with all the upgrades you could do) see you tomorrow 😁
Sweet setup! Congrats on the jeep! I've had 2 different Wranglers and loved em both (just not practical anymore since it only seats 5). 😭. Hopefully you've gotten in plenty of practice with your jeep wave. 👋 Can't wait to see what you end up getting!
It was so weird having people do the Jeep wave at first haha I really love driving it and it's more practical vs a dually since I work only a few miles from home
You gonna pull the Jeep behind the AirStream? My 80 yr old Dad who still drives a semi, he pulls a 32+ foot something 5th wheel with a 23ft pontoon boat behind it!
@@WanderingWagners Pic of my Dad's vacation Train..... ua-cam.com/video/6jlecOCaA1E/v-deo.html (unsure of the 5th wheel length, but I think the pontoon is 23FT)
Congrats! I love towing my same Jeep as yours, but a 2014 hardtop I bought used in 2017 as a flat toad behind my puny 23 foot class C. Fine for me and my two cats. I have a different Roadmaster system and use a brake buddy vantage select. Camping world installed it and my wiring needs to be squared away. Now just the brake lights and marker lights work. Turn signals are hosed. I need to square it away but seldom drive after dusk anyway.
It was kind of a day project but glad we can do it ourselves! Everything seemed to be in good working order. The real test will be when it's annually being towed behind a RV
I love the anticipation for the new RV. Don’t leave us hanging too long. Good video about towing the Jeep. How did you keep the Jeep a secret for so long.
Thanks! We are excited but nervous. If we do another thing, you'll all know very soon haha it was pretty easy to keep the Jeep under wraps because we had two trucks that could tow our trailer and with Lynn's outage schedule at work then immediately into quarantine/no camping allowed, it was pretty easy haha
One more mention, we were told NOT to try to back up the RV with the toad attached. This makes getting gas very interesting. Plan ahead and be patient. Enjoy!
Congratulations! Can’t wait to see the big dully. Question, we are residents of Florida and no brake for the toad is required. Apparently, Ohio is different. But, if I read the law correctly, if I’m pulled over by the men in blue in the Buckeye State, I’m still good to go because I’m registered in Florida. Am I mistaken? We will be back in Ohio this summer, pulling our toad with our 30 foot class C and we even went from Charlotte to PA to Ohio with no issues.
Do you guys still find that running the patriot brake system at three works best for you? I just install the same system yesterday and I’m looking for a starting point.. my set up overall is very similar to yours.
@@WanderingWagners hey thanks for that response. I was asking if you still set your trailer brakes at 3 while you’re towing. You mentioned that in the video
What made you guys get a motor home that’s awesome. We are camping finally the camp grounds up here in NH are open with some regulations but hooked up the new Montana and went for our shake down cruise so far so good just got too get use of a bigger rig !! 👍🏻
@@WanderingWagners Absolutely. Happy to help. Hope it all goes great for you whatever you get and from wherever...Now time for those Friday night beverages.
It appears your two safety cables re not crossed. All the other tow systems I've seen they cross over each other. Is that not the case with your Roadmaster?
I actually wasn't sad. It was the best truck I've ever owned but I probably shouldn't have bought it in the first place haha hindsight though. This Jeep is really fun to drive!
@@WanderingWagners No big difference, a Stop Light you stop every time you come to it, ie. A flashing Red. When they went to Red, Amber, Green they became Traffic Signals!!! And do you actual call a Green a GO light?? Have Fun!!

Thanks! It's been really fun to drive. Love taking the top and doors off😎
some people use a locking system on the tow bar so no one can unhook it while your away, then steal your Jeep.
Good idea, but my keep isn't in the ignition when it's being towed. Plus it's stick so many can't drive it haha
I think we have a new camper🤑😳👍👍👍All the best.
Maybe!
the Jeep was definitely easier to install the base plate on then our CRV I am sure you are going to enjoy towing 4 down stay safe
I'll take your word on it. Thank you!
Been using Roadmaster for 15 years, I installed mine by my self on my Colorado. It is easy to pitch fingers folding the tow bar up.
Good to know!
...and now for something completely different...it's like Xmas in May!
Cheers from B.C.
