Thanks for another fantastic video. Our procedure is very similar. Sometimes before I shift the transfer case to neutral, I will slowly move backward to lock the tow bars. We also work as a team. Teamwork is very important.

Hi you guys. Congratulations on the new Rubicon. Barb and I looked into a Gladiator Rubicon but Barb didn’t like it. I think we will be getting a full size pick up. After talking to you at the Tampa show we have decided it would be the most practical vehicle for us to tow. Happy Adventures!

Your video didn't mention the steps you had to do onside the Jeep to prepare for towing but I did see one of the commentators mention the transfer case. Happy travels and I love the fresh haircut for summer😊
Thanks Karen, we didn’t go into detail inside the Jeep because every Jeep or other car have different set ups so we didn’t want to steer (pardon the pun) anyone wrong! 😊
We just got a Jeep Grand Wagoneer. We definitely had sticker shock on the tow package. We love the extra room and more comfortable ride. It was so good to meet you both in Hearthside. Enjoy new ride.
My dealer took it to a installer to get it done. They also installed extra led lights in the back, so nothing was connected to the Honda electrical system. Didn't want any questions if a warranty issue came up that splicing into the car electrical system had caused it. Something else I do is when hooked up and I shut off the car I pump the brakes to relieve any pressure in the brake booster. I have had it slide the tires the first couple times the brakes were applied by the RV especially on dirt or gravel roads. Enjoy your new Jeep.
@WILDEBILL308 we put in new wiring that Blue Ox offers that plugs right into the existing Jeep wiring without having to splice any Jeep wires, very cool!
Hello Stacie and Tom! Congratulations on the new Jeep Wrangler. I just watched your video for information on your tow setup. I am currently prepping our 2024 Jeep Rubicon for flat towing behind our motorhome. I have run across a couple of issues discussed in one of the Jeep forums regarding battery drain while flat towing the 2024 Jeep Wrangler. Have you encountered a dead battery after towing several hours? Did your tow setup include a battery charging device?
We haven’t had that problem and no we don’t have a battery charger. We do turn our lights switch from Auto to Off because we were told this sometimes becomes an issue. Maybe our breaking system is different and that could be why we haven’t seen any problems?

I noticed that you use locking hitch pins where you attach the Blue Ox tow bar to the Jeep, but not locking hitch pins for your receiver or Blue Ox adjustable hitch. I do just the opposite. Since I don’t very often remove the hitch from the rv or the Blue Ox tow bar, I lock those in place. I probably should use locking pins for where it connects to the Jeep as well. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to more about your new Jeep. We currently have a standard Jeep Wrangler Limited, but are thinking of getting a Rubicon (or alternatively a GMC truck).
My hitch and tow bar are locked only when we’re parked. Otherwise in an emergency the locks would inhibit removal, for example if the Jeep were to catch fire. I would think you can just twist the clevises right off by pulling the pin. I would lock the tow bar not the Jeep. They need keys to steal the Jeep. That’s what we do. Saw a video of a tow vehicle catch fire and the owner was able to pull one pin off the hitch and move the RV forward out of the way.
Get video guys, it tells and shows step by step what needs to be done when hooking up a new toad. The newer the toad there is more steps involved, main reason we still pull the RAM 4x4 5 seconds Tranfer case is in neutral. Question I see your using keyed locking pins to connect Blue Ox to toad trying to understand why? My understanding over the few years we have been RVing is if a situation arises and you need to unhook your toad in an emergency you want to do it as quick as you can and push toad away from Coach.. Glad you had a good time at Hearthside, I have a few questions regarding the Newmar event and would love to chat sometime when you have time.. safe travel my friends….

Thanks for the video. We have a blue ox set up, too, and I like the hitch plate idea. Might have to get one. What is the reasoning behind crisscrossing the safety cables?
If for any reason the tow bar were to come disconnected from the RV, the crossed cables can possibly hold up the tow bar and keep the more steady giving you a chance to slow down & minimize damage.

Congrats on the new Jeep! Besides all the regular stuff of hooking up the Wrangler I try to remember to turn off the air vent (A/C) system so that the cab doesn't smell like diesel exaust upon arriving at our destination. Great to see this new video. What part of the country are you in? We are in the scablands of Washington currently.

@blatham59 They haven’t been bad at all. We got swarmed one time at a forested overlook near Munising. That was it. Other than that, we’ve barely seen any mosquitoes.
It would be interesting to know if that Jeep has the factory switch in it. My 2003 TJ Sport has had an aftermarket switch installed. Turning it one click unlocks the steering wheel. The key will not come out. On the factory switch the key would come out in that position. With the switch one click off lock there is no power on except the right side cigarette lighter receptacle. That is where I plug my RVI Brake system in. A quick way to tell is if the automatic transmission selector will shift out of park, the steering is unlocked. I see the aftermath of this problem but I also have a lot of questions. I pull mine regularly. Just curious. I use the RVI 3 braking system. I also installed a small charger that would maintain the battery utilizing power from the motorhome. Transfer case in neutral. Transmission in park. So far I have had no issues.
Super interesting video as always. Very helpful to us as we just purchased a Class A and want to do the same toad setup as you are doing including adding a bike rack. My question is in reference to the bike rack part. I'm guessing after you attach the toad to the Blue Ox you would attach the bike rack and then put your bikes on. Then when you reach your destination will you need to unload your bikes and remove bike rack before unhitching the toad? Or will you be able to unhitch the toad without unloading your bikes and removing bike rack? Trying to visualize how this would work. Thanking you in advance.
The reason we didn’t share that is because every Jeep has a different procedure so we don’t want to mislead anyone and cause a problem for them. However we do NOT leave the Jeep running while towing!
So do you have to leave the ignition on so that the steering electric motor and brake pump still work when towing? How does it know which direction to turn the wheels?

Hey guys! You just need to turn the hitch upside down unless you need more than a drop 8, which you might, but if that works then you just adjust the hitch for the Jeep when you want to tow it! We miss y’all as well & look forward to seeing you later in the year!!!
I tow a Jeep Wrangler behind our Class C. I chose the Wrangler because it has an old school manual transfer case and I can put it in neutral, put the trans in Park, take the keys out of the ignition and tow it with no issues. I will warn you though. By purchasing a Jeep you have inadvertently joined a cult.

💯 believe that Jeeps are best to be towed. Our experience is they tow very easily and handle it well!

How much does the hitch and braking system cost (installed)?
Our install was around $750 and the equipment cost is different for every vehicle!
We use the locks on the towbar to the motorhome and just pins on the car side of the tow bar, more concerned about someone taking the tow bar.😅
Totally understand that! Our locks were not long enough for the new hitch!
