ODEON LEICESTER SQUARE TABS SAFETY CURTAIN & ORGAN

A re-Edit and with upgraded information and new Licensed audio, the is the Odeon Leicester Square before the 1998 refit. We see both sets of Tabs working. We also see the Safety Curtain running, of which we will never see it again (explained in the Video). This is history of the once Great Odeon Leicester Square. "Memories of Cinema" it certainly is.

I do understand the realities and difficulties of cinema operaton in the 21st C, but I just wish there was a viable way to save all of this without having to reduce capacity, upgrade seats, 'weld up' fire curtains - to leave it as a time warp experience.. I know - I know - I know... but, I just wish....

Hi John, I totally agree with you. There should have been a government listing to preserve the OLS. A lot of premieres are now held outside of Leicester Sq at the Royal Festival Hall, Albert Hall and BFI IMAX. Thank you for your comment.

Thank you for your comment. You are so right. I could not use the real sound from the OLS organ, as that would have been copyright music, so I used an over the top piece of music which I licensed, assuming the viewer would understand this.

And still the screen is too small for the size of the auditorium...such a shame !! Especially the poor patrons in the rear circle !

Was this before the 90's refurbishment ?

This video just before was the 1997 refurb. The last Refurb was 2018, when they took all the charm away from the OLS. Such a shame.
