I had the incredible opportunity to step into the magical world of Merlin Cinema and get an exclusive preview of the stunning Plaza before it opens its doors to the public! 🌟
What an experience it was to witness the hard work and dedication that has gone into transforming this space over the last few months.
A huge thank you to the Plaza staff for being such gracious hosts and taking me on an unforgettable tour.
The highlight had to be stepping inside the projector room - an absolute movie buff's dream come true! 🎞️✨
But that's not all - I even got to witness the enchanting sounds of the organ being played, adding a touch of classic charm to this modern cinematic masterpiece. 🎹🍿

It's great to see Weston is respecting some of the amazing architecture in the town again, this building is an amazing example of art deco
Great to see it’s reopened complete with the wonderful organ, hope it does well 🤞 good that you promote Weston and all it’s got to offer, I was in a Bristol pub last night and everyone was slating Weston as a drug capital (sad that it was allowed to get this reputation) I am fairly widely travelled but to me no where better on a hot summers day. Keep up your good work 👍

Really cool to see they still have the organ, I've heard of cinema's having them but never actually seen one installed, let alone played - such a unique sound.
This was the first time I have seen the organ.. It’s been there for years. Plaza want to use the organ more because people love it.
Of the hundreds examples we had in the UK, only a handful of cinemas still have their original pipe organs. The Plaza Stockport, The ODEON Leicester Square, and The Plaza (Former ODEON) Weston Super Mare. Blackpool Opera House still has it's original 1939 Wurlitzer but that venue is a theatre. Others do exist in their original homes, such as the Gaumont State in Kilburn, Granada Tooting, Granada Harrow but the venues have changed use and/or the organs are not used. Most of the organs were scrapped, but some have found their way into other venues, town halls, private homes, museums etc. The most famous example in the World is at Blackpool Tower Ballroom - the Mighty Wurlitzer which has been played practically every day since 1935.

@@WestonSuperMan Merlin have the right idea, it's brilliant that it is being used. Other venues that have them don't use them often so I hope weston bucks the trend.
