- China's recent attempt to forcefully alter the status quo on the LAC in Yangtse in Tawang Sector was thwarted by the Indian Army. As the soldiers of People's Liberation Army (PLA) came with clubs, the Indian soldiers did not back down and responded in kind, beating back the belligerent Chinese forces. In this edition of the ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, Gen. Manoj Mukund Naravane (Retd), Former Army Chief, tells how the PLA received a "Jhatka" in Galwan in 2020. As Indian side also suffered casualties, did it break the Army's morale? How is the situation similar or different this time? Is PLA really a modernised army or is it actually “regressive”? I am proud to be daughter of military officer while watching Gen. Saabs comments. How much great our Indian Army is. My father would explain all these things. He was also in the LINE of control during 62 to 64.

As a son of Army personnel I am proud of our defence forces. My father served in the Army for 30 years in infantry and fought 1967( with China) and 1971( with Pakistan) wars for the country.

Regarding Pakistani narrative being successful in Balakote, the proof of success was that Pakistan did not allow any journalist or foreign media to that building for considerable number of months and it was allowed only after repairing everything. I feel very sad that our media never emphasized in this to prove success of Indian action.

I don't have family members in the army, though a lot have tried, I can just get goosebumps after listening to such experiences. Looking forward to serving them from outside through technology. Thank you to the ANI team. Great interview with Gen. Naravane! His mild manner seems like a perfect camouflage for his strong, decisive leadership of the army, before he retired. China only respects power, and had to be countered with resolute military action on the ground, as he explained, while Pakistan needed to be shown that India will not always be restrained, and can deliver a greater than proportionate response when provoked.
As an Indian citizen this is the first time a detailed discussion happened for the understanding of common citizens.Thanks ANI.

As an Indian who is living abroad for more than three decades it is heartening to know that the security of our country is in good hands and our security forces have the commitment, ability and resolve to deal with the menace on the North and West. My prayer is that these brave sons and daughters defending our borders will have divine protection.

Excellent podcast. The calm confidence, knowledge and balanced approach of the General reflects in his words. Kudos to Smitaji and Ajitji for asking sensible questions and allowing ample time to the guest to respond.
This is probably the best interview I would have ever seen....General MM Naravane is a great man, so precise, so articulate and so nuanced in this interview like he always is but I would also like to appreciate Ajit ji and Smita ji for having conducted this interview with so much respect and dignity....They asked all relevant questions in the best possible way....
Rising from Second lieutenant to the rank of Chief isn't a small thing. General Sir might have gone through end no of difficulties during his service tenure, however he avoided boosting about his achievements even when he could, during the course of conversation. Could not understand how a person of his position and ultimate power, can be so cool and down to earth.
