What a fantastic video. I have been looking for something along these lines for a bit. You showed the trajectory for both .22 and .177 and with such detail. I never thought about zeroing in like that. I use open sights and a 10.5 grain .177 pellet from a Webley Vulcan and usually just zero at average shooting distance about 20 yards. I am going to invest in a scope and really do some honing in after seeing this. Thanks again from the US.

Great professional video. All air gunners should watch this. The trajectory curve shows that you should not be targeting live quarry beyond 35 yes with a 12ft/lb 22 - the drop off and windage are too great to be sure of a clean kill.
I just loved how he shows his misses to, thats real hunting, you fail, you will fail, thats how you learn, and some people skips those parts just to show that they are really skilled, no man, when shooting rifles or snipers, you gotta keep in mind about wind too, it changes every second, so there is a 40% chance of missing the shot, and my missing i don't mean you don't kill him, but maybe you get the target on his shoulder, or on his legs insted of a head shot. But thats how you get better! Practice. And yeah if you shooting a real .50 CAL then nigga we should hangout sometime.
Watching that rabbit reminded me of a hunt I had. It’s like when they “jump the string” when you’re bow hunting. It’s that sound from the weapon when sending a sub-sonic round or arrow. They hear it just before it hits them. I think that’s why it’s important to have a good silencer for your air rifle. I had a rabbit just sit there after I took a head shot on him with my 22 at roughly 100 yrds. He just sat there and gave me a second shot. Second shot went right through the head clean. When I had got to him I had pierced both his ears with the first shot.
@@stan690 You have no idea how tripped out I was. First of all they just freeze like they can retroactively disappear from your view by just turning to stone. All I can think is he really didn’t think I saw him or hit him. But before god, when I picked him up after the second shot he had two perfect holes toward the base of each ear with a light line on the neck. Only explanation I can come up with is the first bullet pierced his ears. When you folded them back it all lined up. Weirdest thing I’ve seen to date hunting.
I cull pigeons at my place of work (we store thousands of tons of animal feed) and they are wise to hunters. They know when you rise your rifle and strategically move around to avoid the shot. I'm sure an older rabbit/hair would react the same.
Hi Please don't take down this very good video that easily explains how to zero in your air rifle for the correct distance/pellet etc. I have watched it several times. Thanks

The only way around this is to purchase a more expensive first focal plane scope. The reticle size will then get bigger or smaller as you zoom in and out meaning that the mil dots will always be accurate at all magnification settings.
That rabbit heard it coming his way. His reaction time wasn''t fast enough to duck but the fact it went over his head helped. excellent video great shooting and the zeroing is all well done,, the one thing i would say is that in every shooting scenario i have been involved in or taught is that you never shoot without a solid background, over a ridge or roof line,, a silhouette is a wonderful clear target but if you miss the pellet is going to land somewhere you didn't anticipate, the crow you clipped is a case in point,, i'm sure you were in the perfect location but other people who follow your example may not be,, really good video
Zero a .177 @40yds with a Hawke airmax 3-9x50 ao w bell focus and the aim points will be at 5 yd increments. Also get a range finder both are the key to absolute success both will help beginners and even pros would like its simplicity and adapt really quickly . Im soon getting a BSA r10th in .177 and using the mentioned scope plus the air rifle is regulated with a shrouded barrel and a supressor it is mouse fart quiet and a handy adjustable cheek piece. The huge buddy bottle on it is such a dream. So i will be getting a divers tank or two no way am i using a pump for that lol. Nice Harris bipod to finish it off. I like ferreting but dont enjoy breaking scared rabbits necks shooting them seems more humane to me lol the last thing they remember is eating grass before they go where the grass is greener. Well plenty of meat on the table. God bless.
It just annoys me when the attitude is ... the air rifle is a beginners gun before you go on to a proper bang... I shoot 12g rifles and air guns, and to be honest the modern airgun especially PCP rifles have a valid claim to be a hunters first choice for shooting on farmland. They are quiet, accurate, and so well built now.
For those of you in the UK this is an understandable statement. Those of us in the U.S. are not hampered by restrictive gun laws and I can assure you that air rifles are not go to guns for most open area varmint hunting. Very effective in skilled hands though.
Yeah, but they're still not good enough for serious pest control. A hushpower .410 is better than an air rifle and has pretty much the same range, i like air rifles sure but unless i'm shooting rats in the yard i'd pickup a shotgun every time, i can shoot doves to foxes all carrying the same gun which is something you can't do with an air rifle plus if it is serious pest control you can easily get 100 pigeons in the space of a few hours without a shotgun, you just can't compete with anything else
Here in the UK, you need an airgun - available from gunshops - and permission to shoot. You may find and airgun club near you who can help. Ask at your local gunshop. Hope this helps. / Charlie
Some annoying wood pigeons have been crapping all over my car/porch lately and I want to deal with them, but I can't use my shotgun outside of a firing range due to local laws and I find poisoning them to be cruel + might endanger my cats if I am not mistaken. So I was wondering if my air rifle that shoots 4,5mm 8g Predator Polymag pellets at roughly 199 MPS (656 FPS) would guarantee a clean kill for a reasonably well (general chest area) aimed shot. I wouldn't want them to get wounded and die slowly in pain. Help would be greatly appreciated Kind Regards Homer
on a sub 12 ft,lbs rifle is it ethical to try to take game at 50 + yards with the drop in velocity you are running very low on a already low energy. the only reason i ask is that i do not really know the ballistics of the 177-.22 cal sub 12 ft,lbs. At 50 + yards is it enough? Having the advantage here of having a much larger "power" curve with what I would hope close to if not the same accuracy. BTW. 20 yards for a crow? You cant get 50 yards to a crow on the west cost of Oregon with blow gun let alone a air rifle
Maybe I am blind but I cannot find info about the gear you use in this video. Maybe it is answered in coment number one, but to find out I would have to sit here all day.... TY from Norway.
Awesome. I watched the video and it was really interesting. I would love to do this. But i have a question. Where to get the mount for the camera.@fieldsportschannel
why not record the marks (1, 2, 3) on the scope and then change the scope settings on each distance so you get a center shot each time? I mean isnt that why there is knobs to turn on the scopes to do this? I've seen stickers to make it easier. range find, turn knob to proper setting distance, shoot, range find, change if needed, so on.
Could you tell me if Roy was shooting a sub-12 ft/lb .22 and .177 please? It looks as though both these rifles were UK-legal power. It appears that .177 zeroed at 40 yards and .22 zeroed at 30 yards makes for a useful base to build accurate hunting-range air rifle shooting on. Well done indeed. A very enjoyable and useful film.

Finally, someone with a fucking brain.
Someone with a working brain
i love the narrator`s use of the term ( proper rifle ) , good sighting /shooting exercise
Thank’s learned a lot about pellet drop.i had difficulty shoting on a longer range beacuse of it.
Someone call Morpheus, we've found Neo the rabbit at 13:25 ... he is The One.
+Que Willbewillbe the only performance in this video...
Lmao dude gold
I'm not saying you will be able to dodge pellets. I'm saying that when you're ready, you won't need to
Awesome video in my opinion, I love hunting and pellets weapons
its always difficult to know if a hunting video is a good video or not because people dislike it just because of its people hunting makes its hard to know if I should spend the time watching it or not
👍 Danke fürs Hochladen!
👍 Thanks for uploading!
Reckon it heard the shot. They have much better hearing than sight
This is kind of awesome
Always has been
Indeed
GREAT VIDEO
the best airgun channel.. thanks. from Argentina!
lol
What about Ted's holdover?
Great shooting. I'm from Oklahoma and grew up hunting and you taught me a thing or two..... Cheers .
Nice shooting and good explanation of sighting in your targets.
Thank you for helping me choose how to zero my air gun out! This video was very fun to watch!
excellent video great shooting and the zeroing is all well done,, the one thing i would say is that in every shooting scenario i have been involved in or taught is that you never shoot without a solid background, over a ridge or roof line,, a silhouette is a wonderful clear target but if you miss the pellet is going to land somewhere you didn't anticipate, the crow you clipped is a case in point,, i'm sure you were in the perfect location but other people who follow your example may not be,, really good video
I find this video very interesting and entertaining! Its is the best video in UA-cam where its explained the distance from air rifles. Thank you
That last rabbit was any old rabbit. It was THE rabbit, Bugs Bunny, and he heard it coming. You should be glad he didn't come after you.
God bless.
Thanks
@@fieldsportstv 😉
How many joules of power does your air rifle have? I wonder because the shot drops that much after 50yd.
Looks like bird got a haircut 6:05
Lol gave that first crow a haircut hehehe
Quandary121 ha ha ha.
😅
Quandary121 he got a temp fade
Great video mate
Thank u best video yet for zero a scope
Try an FAC rifle? 12 lb rifles are ridiculous !
I prefer my .17 HMR!
Utterly efficient so is a silenced .22 LR
I use RWS sub sonic and it works!
It just annoys me when the attitude is ... the air rifle is a beginners gun before you go on to a proper bang... I shoot 12g rifles and air guns, and to be honest the modern airgun especially PCP rifles have a valid claim to be a hunters first choice for shooting on farmland. They are quiet, accurate, and so well built now.
that's my choice! cheaper (sometimes) plus gun laws in the UK?
For those of you in the UK this is an understandable statement. Those of us in the U.S. are not hampered by restrictive gun laws and I can assure you that air rifles are not go to guns for most open area varmint hunting. Very effective in skilled hands though.
+kat834 Well said mate, the farms I shoot on, two of them have gone out and bought air rifles, I just hope its not the death knell for me :)
I live in the city limits so I can not shoot a firearm but I can shoot my air gun in the backyard targets and varmints ...
I love how im just sitting here watching videos of shit getting merked.
Legend has it the crow is still bald plated to this day and all the rest crows call him monk....🤣😂
Iv just got into shooting and just found your channel cracking video mate got a new sub atb jimmy 😎😎
Cheers Jimmy
Even though I never used a pellet gun to hunt rabbits, I still think a .22 is the best for rabbits
So you havent tried .20 in a Rapid
excellent. i learned a lot. much appreciated
great video
What do you need to get into air rifle hunting?
Here in the UK, you need an airgun - available from gunshops - and permission to shoot. You may find and airgun club near you who can help. Ask at your local gunshop. Hope this helps. / Charlie
@@fieldsportstv thank you
Very nice video i learn a lot can you tell me how many joule your air rifle have or fps thanks.
Help would be greatly appreciated
Kind Regards Homer
yep. and they taste good.
Turkey trail honey bee farm Georgia So it will be a clean kill?
+homerun443 as clean as killing can be.
Turkey trail honey bee farm Georgia Thank you, sir.
I second that. It is more than capable of passing clean through a pigeon.
Your rabbit your gun and you can do anything
I love the haircut you gave that crow, American Bald Crow.
The bunny heard the shot but the round isn't traveling fast enough. Most 4 legged animals do it
Very helpful. Would not have thought about the zoom on the scope effecting the distance of the mil dots on the scope reticle.
I never knew pellet guns where that strong
These are not strong pellet rifles. They are very accurate. England limits to 12 fpe, typical USA is 15 fpe and magnums are over 20fpe.
on a sub 12 ft,lbs rifle is it ethical to try to take game at 50 + yards
with the drop in velocity you are running very low on a already low energy.
the only reason i ask is that i do not really know the ballistics of the 177-.22 cal sub 12 ft,lbs. At 50 + yards is it enough?
Having the advantage here of having a much larger "power" curve with what I would hope close to if not the same accuracy.
BTW. 20 yards for a crow?
You cant get 50 yards to a crow on the west cost of Oregon with blow gun let alone a air rifle
if you don't like it don't click on it
please show how you attach the digital to your rifle. liking it very much.
Maybe I am blind but I cannot find info about the gear you use in this video. Maybe it is answered in coment number one, but to find out I would have to sit here all day.... TY from Norway.
What rifle is really the question.
It's an Airarms S410F - see about 11 seconds in.
8:22 ...Mr Anderson!... it's Neo!
Awesome. I watched the video and it was really interesting. I would love to do this. But i have a question. Where to get the mount for the camera.@fieldsportschannel
Hi - specialist telescope shops/sites have adaptor mounts for cameras. / Charlie
thanks!!!!
The rabbit at the end is from 'The Matrix'.
Lorne M , that's the sixth sense... I think so !
Should I use bbs or pellets? If im just target shooting. and small pests like pigeons, squirells, birds.
Scope and camera. Does that work?
my boys love this stuff, I just love rabbits, they are so delicious
princeRamelGMier
I was raised on Rabbit. It's very tasty in a Ragu sauce with pasta :D
Loved the bionic bunny that heard and saw the shot. Then again maybe bugs caught a whiff of hai karate... Roy?
I love how that bird just casually walks by and he doesn’t even care
why not record the marks (1, 2, 3) on the scope and then change the scope settings on each distance so you get a center shot each time? I mean isnt that why there is knobs to turn on the scopes to do this? I've seen stickers to make it easier. range find, turn knob to proper setting distance, shoot, range find, change if needed, so on.
Could you tell me if Roy was shooting a sub-12 ft/lb .22 and .177 please? It looks as though both these rifles were UK-legal power. It appears that .177 zeroed at 40 yards and .22 zeroed at 30 yards makes for a useful base to build accurate hunting-range air rifle shooting on. Well done indeed. A very enjoyable and useful film.
The sound travels faster than the air rifle 900fps. So it's obvious the rabbit ducks in response to the sound
No a quality air rifle is over 1000fps
@@thehermit2923 Not with the uk legal limit it isn't.
Sure can tell the City folks from the Country Folks ....
Any of you city dwellers ever seen what a troop of Rabbits can do to a Garden , New Trees , or Roses ?
I believe that final rabbit heard the shot and pellet, you notice it's ear turning towards the camera just before contact.
The rabbit moves its ears all the time.
+McAkkeezz True, but the ears turn towards the sound right after the shot.
we were alway taught to double shoot on a rabbit by having another person fire at the rabbit at the same time so asto increase the chances of a hit
How high is bullet velocity of your rifle? Below 500feet/sec?
Just wondering if it is hard to get used to sighting thru a camera instead of cheek welding while looking thru a scope?
I use a app in my iphone, that helps me alot!! "chairGun"
yeah it's a great app by Hawke' have you looked deeper in the app' the mathematical equations or interesting if your a serious shooter
Now limited to Android 8 or older in case anyone has too new of a phone.
you have to be wery wery quiet, I'm hunting wabbits 😁

excellent educational video about distance and drop off
Mate which one would you recommend Diana RWS 65TH .177cal or 22cal I need it for hunting up to 60 meters . Birds, small fox, rabbits ... which cal. is more precise and accurate in real hunt. I have experience with .177 but zero with 22. Many Thanks!
...or .20? It's tough. It comes down to which one you like. / Charlie
Fieldsports Channel Might I ask what is the brand and model o that rifle you used for this video?
I could give a shit about real guns air guns are much better no background checks no waiting period and ammo is cheapl
