I’m glad you brought the “fast fashion” issue up. Yes, clothes don’t become fast fashion if they hold up for a couple of years. I have H&M, Zara, and Target clothes that have lasted more than 7 years. Also, sustainable clothes are pricey, even Everlane…mostly I shop and wear vintage, which is affordable, environmentally friendly, and when styled properly can look “trendy”.
You have such a good point regarding "fast fashion" Anna. I think that most people look for the highest quality clothing items that they can afford, and even budget options are acceptable if you take the time and attention to care for these items. I have many budget pieces in my closet that still look like new, that I wear regularly, and that are more than 10 years old! There is more than 1 way to be a responsible consumer 😉
I really love every outfit you love! Never look a whole lot at H & M but will reconsider…Especially those ivory dress pants. Thanks for another great video…
I know that fast fashion is an issue we are all aware of, but i just want to make a comment about my experience with it. I grew up fairly poor and never could afford really expensive quality clothes, so i was taught how to keep my cheap clothes for longer and properly take care of them. That means not washing them too too often, hanging them to dry, folding them nicely, shaving the peels, mending the items if there is a rip, reusing the item once it reaches the end state etc. I have clothes that I bought when I was 18, and I am 28 now and I still wear them. I now make a decent amount of money, but I can't seem to justify spending too much money on clothes when I can purchase an okay quality of clothes in stores like Zara or Mango and care for them and keep them for years to come. Also, I'm not buying too many trends to ensure that I can wear the item for many, many seasons. This is my way of making cheap clothes sustainable, I guess. So thank you for including a video showing fast fashion items and how everyone can make them last in their wardrobe.
I was raised in the same circumstances, except my mom loved thrift stores. Coincidentally, she knew how to sew too. The result was that our thrift items were often "made to fit" when she altered them. Of course, some of the thrift stores would sometimes have designer goodies, so my siblings and I were the envy of many. Back then though, people took better care of the few things they had. Gosh, I'm really aging myself (50 this year) but I remember how we would wash and fold clothes as kids and my mom would spend Sundays evenings ironing the clothes for the week. Nowadays I'm far too busy and tired to do that, but I think I should adopt some of these lessons for my own child. Thanks for reminding me of some good times. ♥♥
Great video. I'm on a budget and love when you feature H&M, Zara, et al. Especially a focus on better quality, better looking pieces that appear higher end. Thank you. BTW, love the black and white print dress and the red/pink sweater!
Sheesh, how many times in my past did I buy something expensive and “ designer” and it didn’t look all that fabulous? Oh, A LOT lol great video Anna..❤Elle
I think those wide-legged jeans look great on you! Steaming or ironing (depending on fabric and construction) can also make inexpensive clothes look a lot better.
H&M is one of my go to stores! They have such a fun mix of fashion styles and I like their slightly elevated looks. I also like shopping their more eco conscious items and participating in their garment recycling program!
100% agree. I haven't shopped in store in ages. My entire winter wardrobe is basically H&M (lots of sweater dresses). I only ever go in store to do swifter return. And even then I plan to do it on a weekday right as they open. As a hybrid worker I can avoid weekends and crowds. Tuesday at 10am for the win! I still won't shop in store. I'm in and out for the return only.
I'm so glad you mentioned fast fashion can be consumed like slow fashion, it's all about being mindful especially if you're on a budget there's no need to be wasteful, I've learned to mend and make minor resizing adjustments on my clothes so if it cost me $7 or $70 I will wear the heck out of it. BTW your floof ball has the most adorable grumpy old man face I've ever seen 😁
Anna, I love these videos with specific recommendations from brands, I would love to see more from Mango or Zara! Not precisely the expensive look but just any best items that we can buy. now:) thank you!
Really appreciated this! I have so many staples from H&M (including linen sheets!) that I've kept for ages and they have held up well with good care - and in particular, some of their Premium Quality items are great! Found a fab wool blend coat this year as well that uses a % of recycled materials - (technically branded as "And Other Stories" but was sold via H&M, the "Voluminous Belted Wool Coat") - and I know I'll use it for a long time.
So chic and effortless! When you are confident in your clothes, it really shows in your stance! Belts are definitely one factor that can really elevate a look.
So happy to hear you talk about making fast fashion slow. I am on a budget in CE: as a smaller, but real plus size I am hunting for quality pieces in catalogues. Took time but learnt to assess fits from catalogue modells for my vuloptous curves. I can look really elevated in cheap, sale but literally hand-selected clothes.

Love this, Anna. With ANY store, I know I still must find what is good quality & looks good on me. I am w/you & I shop EVERYWHERE! Thank you for the info on H&M. I appreciate your hard work❤❤❤
I agree, I’ve been to the store here in the desert and they have nothing. I don’t even bother going anymore because everything they have either looks cheap or I don’t like anything
I’m glad I’ve started following. I’ve been following various fashion channels and so far you’re the only one that has mentioned: the weird belt loops on dresses, turning the turtleneck inward, and removing those annoying straps that come in some tops/dresses (I always remove those). Thank you.
Love the cereal faux leather pants! Love the black and white dress! And the blouses. Love the pink and red sweater. I agree it’s fun, but don’t want too much of that color combination. The trench coat was sharp too. I was in H&M during holiday shopping and found many tops/ sweaters were rough feeling? Wish I’d seen that pink and red sweater. Would have bought that 😊 I love thunderstorms! Kinda fun having it in the background

I like viscose or rayon, it’s soft, cool, and very breathable. I do buy some things from H&M, I just avoid the polyester and acrylic things. They definitely have the styles and prices that we want!

I love H&M they do have quality expensive items as well as reasonable priced good pieces. You have to take the time to look, feel the fabrics and try on as you recommended Anna! Great video:)
Those jeans look great on you! I love that furry jacket on you, it's totally retro and in for the whole texture that is going to be trending for a long while now. The blazer is great too.
I love your videos so much. I always get inspiration from you. I did purchase the slim straight black jeans and the green chunky sweater. I do not regret it! The jeans have an amazing fit but are very long so I will either have to always wear 3" heels or have them altered a bit. Thank you for doing what you do.

I'm really impressed you had the stamina to shop at H&M. The store near me is an epic disaster and an unholy mess. It would take more determination than I have to find anything in the store (size spread all over the store with no discernable logic, stuck on racks with unlike items ... looks like people took clothes into the fitting room then returned them to whatever rack had room on it)(🤥) ! I really like the pieces you chose to bring home. Maybe I'll give them another chance!
I just wanted to say thank you. As an adult that has fluctuated in weight for many years, I really avoided mall stores for the most part. Our styles tastes may differ a bit, but I watch your videos for new ideas, how I can add a little here and there, and because I try either used or new to invest in quality when I am able. I am 5' 8" and currently down by a few sizes - (tentatively excited!) The problem is now approaching the idea of things like: tucking in a top, figuring out what jean size I am now- and at which stores to try- I hope that makes sense. I lived in babydoll tops, jeans and cardigans for so long, I don't feel 'right' in polished styles, I can fit in my old rock tees from shows I went to in the early aughts again! But I love watching you, for your positivity, honesty and fresh ideas. Hope pup didn't get too scared during the storm ❤ Thanks again for your awesome content
Hey congrats on the weight loss! I’m sure it’s a big mindset shift you have to make with learning how to see yourself in your new body. Good for you for working on your style! I’m glad you find some useful info here! 🙌🙌❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29 Thank you for your kind response! Your videos share pieces I wouldn't think I could, 'pull off', but I used to have the best time styling my friend growing up lol. She's petite and slim and had very little interest in clothing styles. We had SO much fun (90's- early 2000's) and she looked great! I got to play fashion doll, vicariously through her a bit and live out my creative looks. Now maybe I can dip a toe into new pieces and fit back into some beloved smaller vintage pieces again. Texture felt accessible this year- finally- so I could find my favorites; velvets and suede, silk and corduroy in new clothing! That shag faux fur coat you shared was gorgeous, I very nearly bought a similar cropped, white faux coat from Target recently. In the end it didn't work out, in my head it gives Lady Miss Kier, but in reality it was more 'fluffy, linebackeresque'. Ah well. I'm discovering new ideas every day and I appreciate what you do in introducing us to great looks in an approachable way. All the best to you!
The black and white dress, I would have loved to see it styled for spring like you mentioned. I have such a hard time figuring out what shoes to wear for dresses.

Thanks for the review. Fairly recently, H&M came to my local mall. I've been in there a couple of times and thought things looked cheap, tacky. But I'd go again and spend a bit more time, based on this. I do want to get a couple of lightweight sweaters to wear over or under, for some travel this spring. Sounds like it's at least worth taking a look for them there.
I do feel like you have to do a lot of searching / trying on but there are a few good ones in there! ❤️ I also wish all their clothes weren’t so wrinkled in the store!
@@ANNAREID29 I think part of the problem (maybe it's just their UK shops) is that the stuff never looks as though its been ironed even in the shop. I think they take it out of the boxes already on hangers and just stick it on the rails. That really puts me off!
Walmart has short Time and Tru button cardigans on sale for $7.98. I have had some for years and they wear really well. They look just like the H&M ones. Those are also nice, but they don't have many colors this year.
Sometimes they have good things that are only available online. I walked right out of the store the first time, too. I tried on an XL blazer and I couldn’t get half my arm into it (I’m about Medium), but I think that was a fluke. Their Premium line is pretty good, I think that might be only online also.🙂
@@kimberlyperrotis8962 thanks for the info. I'm petite and apparently hard to fit, as I rarely have good luck online! But I will check in the store. thanks again.
Finally a video with things I can actually look for here in South Africa 😂. I watch your videos for inspiration anyway but usually I can't actually get anything.
Wonderful video!!! Lots of great information about H&M and the reasons for your decisions. I actually loved the rain and thunderstorms sounds in the background! But, so sorry that Grover wasn’t happy. 😢Thanks, again. ❤

I LOVE the thunder storm going on in the back ground!! Here in the middle of South Africa, we often have those heavy storms going on and it makes me sleep like a baby. For me it is a reminder that God is ultimately in control.... I just had to share it 😁
I loved listening to the sound of the rain and thunder in your video. I live in Australia and we are experiencing some hot weather for the next week here, so it was nice for a moment to escape, and imagine it was Winter. Great video by the way, thank you 🙂

Please do a video on belts - you have great taste there as well and I never know where to look - they always seem so boringly arranged in the store and I give up on them! Great video reminding us that having great style is in our hands by choosing fabric and cut - definitely can do it on a budget!

I noticed a lot of interest in the subject of "fast fashion". I'd like to point out that you can return your used clothing to H&M for recycling. If you turn in a bag of used clothing, you get a voucher to use towards your next purchase. 😊
The change is in the way we shop! Even HM or Sheen will have to adapt their approach to being sustainable, if we change our shopping habits.👍 But speaking on sustainable shopping… would you consider doing a “What to look for, when you go thrift shopping?”

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. First of all, H&M is one of my favourite brands to shop - fits my budget, fits my style and the quality is pretty good compared to some more expensive brands I've tried and was dissapointed by. Secondly, I thought I was going crazy with sizes - they run too small and it's been so the past couple of years 🙈 I have some jeans and shorts from 7 years ago (proof fast fashion is not fast, unless we make it) size EU 46 and they fit me like a glove, whereas now I have to purchase EU 50 and even then, sometimes, it is too small. Don't know what's happening but I feel self-conscious when shopping for trousers/jeans/shorts, even though I'm well aware there's issue with sizing, not my body. Lastly, all pieces you've shown look great and will definitely put it on my mood board/wishlist and purchase some of them. Keep up the good work, love your channel! ❤
13:45 I think that top is salvageable for those of us who live in climates where you can layer. I’m not sure how it looks in real life, but in the video, it seems like the arms and collar don’t look shiny. It’s a nice colour. I would layer it with a black square corset style vest and deep hued bottoms, maybe in vibrant Earth tones (Edit: if the colour of your top is actually in neutral as it appears in video). But if your top is on the cooler side, cool toned vibrant coloured bottoms then.

H&M is expensive where I am but I waited for sales to buy a pair of trousers n one sweater. Both black n simple cuts. I would really love a winter update on rich mom aesthetic cause ever since ur last video, I have been trying such combinations n loving it.
Last spring I bot 5 colored Linen colored long sleeve blouses. Great with jeans. Also bought a black long sleeve colored button front dress on sale. Wear with belts. Has silk look but not silk.

Great video! Thank you. I must say i really liked those wider leg jeans on you. I say to give them a try. Ive got some wider legged jeans from JCrew & they have become my favorite jeans.
Great choices, I have some quality H&M pieces and agree you can spend less to look great, I don’t live near a store so I buy online and always read the reviews , however I’ve never bought jeans as I’m not sure about sizes they are great with returns though. Another great video thank you ❤
By far the easiest returns around. I hate having to go online, find my order, wait for approval, then go back and print shipping labels, at other online shops.🙂
Anna, Greatly appreciated your take on fast fashion. I can’t do designer on my budget but I look for sustainable fabrics and clothing that lasts in my wardrobe. It’s possible in large retailer stores but we have to demand sustainability and quality. Being informed consumers helps. Thx. ❤️🇨🇦❤️

I know that this video about clothes from H & M, but my sister bought these beautiful black peep toe pumps that look like they come from stores like Unique Vintage, a retro inspired clothing store that’s expensive. These shoes came from out of all places, Walmart! 😮. For Christmas Eve one year, I wore a beautiful red sleeveless dress with those black peep toe pumps, and I looked like a gorgeous 1950’s pin-up girl.
I LOVED this video! Thank you for all the detail and work you put into it! I always have issues with the cut/fit of items at H&M but for some reason I am still always checking out the store and website lol I swear I have been eyeing up that pink and red sweater! So happy you got it, it looks so good on you!!! I love pink but was never a fan of it paired with red. Seeing it on you it definitely has a chic, retro, super cool look to it. I initially thought I would only wear it with black skinny or straight leg jeans and black pointed or square toe boots, chunky boots may look too child like....but now my minds racing with all types of ways to wear it. Also, thank you for sharing that H&M will return items that have faded after one wash, that's good to know. The green sweater looked so vibrant but worrying how it may look after washing is a concern. I am not sure if they still do this but if you have a few items, you are getting rid of H&M will give you 10 or 15% off a purchase in exchange for them. (Any clothing pieces, they don't have to be from H&M)

Hennes got some nice stuff but also tacky and cheap ones. If you keep in the neutral colors and the basics it usually is fine to combine with other things you already have. But sometimes if you buy online you do not get to feel it first, I did have a few things that felt rough and almost hard (have very sensitive skin, I hate tags and labels on clothes, they always make me itchy). But the fun thing is that I love sales and if not suitable I am almost always able to remake or adjust it so I hardly return anything. I do love the kids clothing from Hennes, lovely prints and bright colors, my son loved their Halloween series and was pretty good for such cheap stuff, he even donated his clothes after 1-2 years wearing it to another boy who was having the time of his life with bats, pumpkins and mummies (Like Burton said, for some of us every day is Halloween). I love that coat!!!
If u r looking for nice cream sweater at H&M look for there premium clothing. I just bought one before Christmas in cashmere cream sweater and I m in love. It’s a bit more expensive but I got it for 40%off. I want it in more colors now but they don’t have that.
I actually really liked that blazer - I might visit H&M and try it. . . But THANK YOU for talking about "fast fashion" being as much about behaviour as it is about purchase price. Most of us buy the best clothes we can afford and take care of them - they're mostly made in factories in the Far East anyway. It's really annoying when well-off women commentators talk about women who shop in lower-priced shops as though we're destroying the planet and they aren't!

I alway swap belts with dresses and pants. H&M does have nice basics and some casual dress things. Take your time and shop. Don’t be afraid to return things. My sweaters go to cleaners or hand washed dried flat. I shop on line. Lots of items not in the store.

Although H&M Canada may be a whole different ball game lol. I’m on the hunt for a longer slightly fitted white shirt I kept thinking it was thundering here😅 Thanks for another fabulous fun video! Xo 🇨🇦
I think the pink and red sweater would look really good with an electric blue shoe as a "cool" bright counter to the "hot" tones of the pink and red. My favourite was the wide aqua stripe top.
I walked into a H&M in Central America...eeeuuuwww. Thnk boodness I am able to get Norstrm clearance end of season super buys here in out door market super cheap. I have an amazing wardrobe. I have bought camel faux leather pants , a fushia blazer and a creamy riding blazer long in all season fabric...these I love. I plan to buy a couple of white/cream blazer this Spring from Zara. I just bought four super high quality name brand blazers muchmhigher priced brands than Zara one twee, a navy Austin Reed double breasted wool blazer, a lovely black and pastels tweed blazer and a gorgeous soft aqua wool blazer...just the most gorgeous thing $12.00 new each in an import market here..

I find that I either love or hate most items at H&M, but the ones I love are good. I get a lot of blazers there. I have always loved the look of blazers with jeans, leggings and boots, etc. I find blazers there with a nice weight and lining for under $20 all the time. And I have learned that if they look well made and I like the cut and color, TRY IT ON. Many of them run big and I will size down 1 or 2 sizes. Also, I like some of the heavier weight, oversized blouses, some great, fun, colors and prints. I find most sweaters to be cheap feeling and not wash well, and yes, most jeans are not good for a 50 yr old woman.... but i can't wait to get those black jeans you are wearing! Accessories, shoes and most bags are usually no-gos for me. I agree, make sure the accessories compliment and highlight the outfit. Thanks, love your videos. ♥

Hi Anna - I have a difficult time finding beautiful quality leather belts? Where do you find your belts? For example the black belt your wearing with the thin “plastic” beige shirt is beautiful! Thank you for the information!! ❤
Great video! How perfect this dropped today. I was just out thrifting yesterday and about 3 to 4 tops that caught my eye ended up being H & M. I left them behind because I thought it wasn't good. I just may go back!
The brown leather pants and blouse is gorgeous! Much livelier than with blackjeans.. I think there is not too much going on, it gives the outfit an edgy and individual twist!,

I love H&M but have the exact same issues with the pant sizing, it always seems off and unless I can go into the store to try them on have given up on ordering them. But I love their knit items.
@ANNAREID29 even following reviews it is so difficult to size! I agree, I have wasted full orders on awful sizing issues. Good quality pants/jeans, just easier to try on in person.
I do like some of the pants at H&M and I always go up a size for the best fit. I think for a few basics they’re ok too but an outfit should have some better pieces to elevate it IMO.
The wide leg pants that you are going to take back look really good on you. I didn't get a good look at the back of them. Maybe that is what you didn't like. Great video. Love your presentation on all your videos.

Girl I can't even afford H&M lol but I don't care what people say or think. I am recently loving Walmart's sale rack. I found some good quality everyday clothes for $3-$7 dollars only. It depends on the fabric and quality but those were $15 and up clothes that were reduced. I am sure loving it! bc I don't follow trends
I don’t ever shop at H & M because I never find anything I like 😩 I like Ann Taylor loft …but good video. I decided this year is going to be a no buy year for me. I have a small Capsule wardrobe.
Thank you! I’m glad this resonated with you! ❤️❤️❤️
Sheesh, how many times in my past did I buy something expensive and “ designer” and it didn’t look all that fabulous? Oh, A LOT lol great video Anna..❤Elle
Glad you liked it, Elle! ❤️❤️❤️
I think those wide-legged jeans look great on you! Steaming or ironing (depending on fabric and construction) can also make inexpensive clothes look a lot better.
Thank you! And yes that is an excellent tip ❤️❤️
H&M is one of my go to stores! They have such a fun mix of fashion styles and I like their slightly elevated looks. I also like shopping their more eco conscious items and participating in their garment recycling program!
Totally agree
H&M Online is where the gems are! The store experience is disappointing.
I 100% agree and I’m always annoyed at how wrinkled everything is 😀
Yess especially bc how often they reorganize the store so that even the Salesforce doesn't know where anything is
That’s so true but if you are looking for discount items you will get more in the clearance section in the store.
Agreed. Where I live, some stores opened their fitting rooms in late 2022 which made going to the store fruitless.
You’re welcome and thank you! He’s my little man dog 🤣
They really do have some great coats! I was really impressed with them too ❤️
So chic and effortless!

Would have bought that 😊

Love the lilac sweater on you. The red puffy sleeve blouse is really cute. I never shop at H &M , but that top is a steal at $17.
I felt like it was a gem too! ❤️❤️

That’s so true! ❤️❤️❤️
Those jeans look great on you! I love that furry jacket on you, it's totally retro and in for the whole texture that is going to be trending for a long while now. The blazer is great too.
Thank you!! ❤️❤️
LOVE the thunderstorms in the background!!

I am with you! You have take some deep breaths before navigating that store 🤣
I am 5' 8" and currently down by a few sizes - (tentatively excited!)
The problem is now approaching the idea of things like: tucking in a top, figuring out what jean size I am now- and at which stores to try- I hope that makes sense.
Great video! I love the pink and red striped sweater. I loved hearing the thunder storm. They are so relaxing to me.

I have the patterned dress. I wear mine open over jeans like a duster. Love it.

Please do a video on belts - you have great taste there as well and I never know where to look - they always seem so boringly arranged in the store and I give up on them!
Great video reminding us that having great style is in our hands by choosing fabric and cut - definitely can do it on a budget!

I would wear it everyday.
I really don't care what others think of me.
If my clothes give me joy I would wear them.🤪

I noticed a lot of interest in the subject of "fast fashion". I'd like to point out that you can return your used clothing to H&M for recycling. If you turn in a bag of used clothing, you get a voucher to use towards your next purchase. 😊
The change is in the way we shop! Even HM or Sheen will have to adapt their approach to being sustainable, if we change our shopping habits.👍
But speaking on sustainable shopping… would you consider doing a “What to look for, when you go thrift shopping?”

Love H&M!! I remember shopping there in high school in Germany, before they came to the US.
Yes! I first discovered them when I studied aboard in Austria in college! I was so excited when they came to the US 😀
That red top is a good style for you. I like it with the denim pork chop pocket pants. Looks good!
Thank you, Pat! ❤️

So glad to hear that!! I will get another video like that in the works ❤️

Thank you, Sue! ❤️

I agree about buying online it’s tough! Have to read reviews for sure ❤️
If u r looking for nice cream sweater at H&M look for there premium clothing. I just bought one before Christmas in cashmere cream sweater and I m in love. It’s a bit more expensive but I got it for 40%off. I want it in more colors now but they don’t have that.
I have not tried their premium yet but I will check it out! ❤️
Great video! Learned a lot. (Plus think of Julie Andrews singing 'favourite things')
I am soooo with you on that! No shame in buying cheap clothes, especially when you plan on taking care of them to last ❤️
Excellent! You are amazing! I like all of it, and the red top too. I will check out the store, although I’ve never had luck before.

I alway swap belts with dresses and pants. H&M does have nice basics and some casual dress things. Take your time and shop. Don’t be afraid to return things. My sweaters go to cleaners or hand washed dried flat. I shop on line. Lots of items not in the store.

Can you do a video on how to chose a handbag for your outfit? Do you need to match your shoes? or match your outfit colors?
I think the pink and red sweater would look really good with an electric blue shoe as a "cool" bright counter to the "hot" tones of the pink and red. My favourite was the wide aqua stripe top.
I get so many compliments on that sage / aqua striped top! ❤️

Well some are, some aren’t! I would just really inspect them first ❤️❤️
The tomato red linen top was your best price. Your face lit up. It looked especially nice with the dark wash jeans.

I love H&M but have the exact same issues with the pant sizing, it always seems off and unless I can go into the store to try them on have given up on ordering them. But I love their knit items.
I have to say, I completely agree! You’d need to order like 30 pair unless you knew exactly which ones to get 😫
@ANNAREID29 even following reviews it is so difficult to size!

I guess it’s not small because I have about 80 pieces. I have 25 pairs of shoes. I am retired now and I don’t need a lot of clothes I don’t even wear half the ones I have. I still love to see the new stuff out and these videos.😊

No shame in the big fluffy "Almost Famous" jacket. I have one from the Spirithoods brand and get compliments on it all the time. I live in a colder climate, but I have friends in Tampa that have the same jackets, you are not alone. Stylish people take risks 😉
Love the cream faux leather pants! And the pink & red sweater! And the furry jacket! I have a blush faux fur jacket from Lulu's that I LOVE wearing! I always feel like a rich lady! 😄
Blush faux fur sounds 🤩🤩🤩
Nice choices!! Great job again Anna!, 😊

Wait… I know we’re supposed to be focusing on clothes & style, BUT… you have a dog named Grover?! Gah! That’s just the cutest! I’m a fan of the blue Grover. Lol Glad you have a fluff ball to be scared with. 😅
Lol he’s my little man puppy! 🤣
Love the thunderstorm 🤩
I would have preferred to be eating cookies curled up in a blanket during that but the show must go on 🤣🤣
Thank you. Just a little hint..........the faux leather doesn't keep well and starts to peel in a couple of years.
