OMG, I literally just added a comment before reading this. It’s a story from when I was younger. You simplified it so well. I could not agree with you more!
I don’t want to Jack the comment section. However, Anna made a comment that instantly struck me. I sadly lost my mom and brother young. (My dad still provided me a loving, healthy, upbringing) The point for bringing this up is, I used to go on pages and groups for people who lost a sibling suddenly/tragically/without warning. A young lady shared a story that I have continue to live by. She named it “wear the dress “. She stated that her and her sister were going to be in their uncles wedding. They had these beautiful flower girl dresses that her sister always begged to wear. She wanted to wear it to the playground/school/riding her bike. Lol. Her mom would tell her, no. You need to save it until the wedding. (Which I do understand) Heartbreakingly, her sister was struck by a vehicle and lost her life. Her sister was buried in that dress, and it was the only time she ever got to wear it. This young lady said from that moment on whenever she wanted to do or wear anything, her mom would say “wear the dress”. I know this is a sad story. I just really wanted to emphasize the importance of wearing what you love. If you feel like getting dressed up and want to go grocery shopping in a ball gown and full make up, do it. If you bought an expensive bottle of perfume, and only wear it for “special” occasions, spray away. We have a weird habit of saving our favorite things, instead of wearing them. From the bottom of my soul, I pray you all live long, healthy lives, as I am sure you all will. Yet, life is still short. Celebrate every day for the blessing it is. My children are now teenagers. However, they would go to school dressed as a Power Ranger, go to doctors appointments in Darth Vader costumes, where a necktie and a blazer over their sweatsuits to soccer practice, etc. 😂 So wear what you feel good in. If that dress makes you feel amazing, wear it to the pharmacy. We all deserve to feel happy, confident, and beautiful, everyday, not just on special occasions! Sorry for such a long comment.
I am 67 years old. My body has changed A LOT over the years and it is a constant project to be accepting and love the body I have right now. I appreciate the idea that we should accept who we are and dress with confidence for the body we currently have. So, thank you, Anna!
It's such a constant struggle isn't it! But I feel like if if we were on our death bed, we would regret all the times we hemmed and hawed about some imperfection on us and didn't just enjoy ourselves 🙈❤️
Love Anna, would sure like to go shopping with her, I swear I'll treat her for lunch! She makes a lot of sense, & love all her outfits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For your Part 10, mistakes I've made: Don't just always buy black shoes and belts and jackets because "black goes with everything." It took me a long time to figure out that it doesn't. There are outfits that look all wrong with black shoes. If I had things to do over, I'd make sure to have a few lighter neutrals in the mix as soon as I had more than one of anything. Take really good care of the clothes you have, whether you paid a lot or a little. A wrinkled designer blouse with missing buttons doesn't make you look well dressed. Quit procrastinating on hemming the skirts and pants legs to the right length. Trinny Goodall's Closet Confession videos show what it means to respect H&M purchases as you would a Stella McCartney piece: they're cleaned and hung OCD-impeccably. It's usually hard to tell which pieces in her outfits were inexpensive.
I can relate so much to a lot of these. A major one is buying things without considering if/when I would ever wear them - I bought so many occasion, evening pieces simply because they were pretty - full-length silk dresses, heavily beaded dresses, etc - that just sit in storage bins that I open only when I get a wedding invitation. I’ll never be able to wear all of them. I also bought so many synthetic fabrics that I’ve been replacing over the past few years with quality staples in natural fibers - cashmere, merino wool, organic cotton, silk, leather, linen, etc. I started shopping excessively in my 30s after spending most of my 20s in college and law school and traveling, so when I finally had a proper job and started making money, I guess I tried making up for lost time, lol. I’m a lot more careful now and think more about quality and not being wasteful. Right now I’m guilty of saving the designer bags I spent years obsessing over and which I purchased for ridiculous sums of money and carrying them only on “special occasions.”
These are fashion "mistakes" that we all go through in our younger years. I prefer to call them "experiences". Most of us can totally relate. It brought back plenty of memories..💕☺
I just learned about not needing to wash my items every time I wear them. I’ve done it if I just wore an item for a couple of hours but I just give it the old sniff test. 😂 I love my skinny jeans because I can wear my tall boats with them since even straight jeans bunch up at the top. Just recently discovered your channel and enjoy your style (even if it’s not mine) and your humor. ❤
Thanks Anna. Some very important tips! Washing: I have a handwash cycle on my washer which I LOOOOOOVE. (I used to actually hand wash a lot.) I wash other things on delicates and put almost nothing in the dryer. Cold water, medium or low spin. I have pieces that are 30 years old and are back on trend. It's totally worth it. Playing dress-up: I love doing this. I just spent a couple of hours culling for giving away and discovered some sensational outfits by combining things I never thought to combine before. It's really worth doing. I kind of go down a fashion rabbit hole and make it so much easier to get dressed in a hurry. And yes, plan!!!! Start with your shoes if you are gonna be on your feet, walking or dancing, or standing at a party. Outer Layers: I live in Toronto which, although warming, is cold for a good 6-8 months a year. I have an embarrassing number of coats and jackets, scarves, hats, gloves, boots.... I think of my outer layers the way I think of my "indoor" clothes. They too are outfits! If you think baby belly is an issue, brace yourself for menopause. That said, I'm 72 and I refuse to fall into the "old lady" trap of capris or leggings and ugly tunic tops. I'm with you on highrise. I belt. (I have a belt wardrobe that I have collected over the decades.) I accent my waist as best as I can. People comment on my waistline! Haha. It's an illusion. Basics. Yes. Yes. Yes. Thanks again!!!
Diamonds are forever and always appropriate for ALL occasions---This is a lesson I learned late in life. I just let myself sparkle any time of the day! Happy Camper here!! 🎇
I am almost 70 years of age and I still love playing dress up with my wardrobe and do this very often. It helps me avoid last minute frustration when putting an outfit together before walking out the door. I also discovered by taking a photo of finished look, it gives a more realistic perspective than just depending on the mirror image. In addition, I found that putting an index card on certain items in the closet, listing items to pair it with, is a helpful reminder of what looks best with this particular item. Listing items that complement that item including shoes and accessories, really eliminates a lot of confusion. Planning outfits for the week takes a lot of pressure off, although, oftentimes I will resort to something else at the last minute. My planned fashions for the week are more of a suggestion as opposed to a hard fast rule. I have so many clothes, that by utilizing these two practices, I am more likely to wear a more variety of items. It is so easy for me to resort to the same few outfits over and over, neglecting or forgetting about the many other great treasures in my closet. Hi, my name is Mona and I am a clothes-aholic…🥴
Ooooh, I like the index card idea! My wardrobe is slim at the moment, but I’m getting a dream closet soon and that’s going to change! Notes are always helpful. Thx for the tip!
I love that these are general things we learn as we grow that transcend trends. One mistake I've made in the past (and sometimes still make now) is not making sure this thing I'm about to buy will go with more than one thing in my wardrobe. And at the other end of the spectrum, I found that a capsule wardrobe was SUPER-boring after a while, and really hard on the clothes. Happiness is somewhere in the middle!😆
I can relate to all of this! I’m nearly 63 and still find myself wanting to buy things for the life I don’t lead, nights out, fancy occasions etc. I’m also making myself use my good stuff and wear my ‘going out to lunch’ clothes anytime. I live a very quiet, casual life but still like to look put together. This was a good reminder video.
I love planning my outfits! I'll do it days or even weeks in advance. My best friend decides THE DAY OF what she's going to wear and always laughs at me 😆
Love this video. In my own fashion journey, I would add to my list: wearing colors that really are not attractive for your skin tone. I have a friend that looks fabulous in orange but it completely washes me out.
Best thing I've learned from watching your videos and some of the other UA-camrs: get an idea of what you need, and start shopping and buying from that list. That has been *so* helpful. The capsule wardrobe videos have been such a game-changer for me. When I went back to work at age 60+, I had no idea how to get dressed to go to work these days -- what exactly *is* "business casual"? I've learned so much. Now I'm the one who gets complimented all the time by colleagues -- and students!! -- for my outfits.
I’m retired. I have a fancy lacy long top to wear to dress up events. Don’t do that much anymore. Now, I use it as a fancy housecoat. And I feel fabulous darling. 😁
I wore a wool mini dress to Lowe’s. I was there to buy lumber to redo my closet. At first I had on my sweats I was working in, but decided to get dressed! I looked so damn good and felt good too. I now make it a point to “over dress” when I go to Lowe’s/Home Depot.
I played dress up yesterday and came up with the coolest most chic outfit to date! Had a baggy pair of trousers I was going to Declutter and then found multiple ways to style them! ❤❤❤
Such a great video! I give a name to styling clothes in advance…Practice Wears… while I worked I tried my my clothes on for the week every Sunday night…it truly made a less stressful work week…I still do my practice wears for any special occasions and highly recommend this😊
I'm not quite as organised as that, but I do like to always have a 2 back up outfits - 1 casual & also 1 smart outfit.. ( That is always laundered & any buttons fixed & ready to go at short notice.) It was a god send, just recently as I had a smart event & the dress that I planned to wear looked awful..( 2 small from the last time I had worn it.) So I wasn't totally in a panic, even though it wasn't the outfit I had hoped 2 wear..👗
Oooh, Anna. I'm so glad you encourage "playing dress up" in our closet. Some of my girlfriends do it too but the ones who don't would say that I have too much free time. 😅 I like to think that my time is well spent on the things I enjoy.
My mom has stressed the night before outfit planning for daytime since I was a kid. I am glad she did. She goes as far as her week on Sunday with undergarments etc...I am not at that level lol. But the few times I had to make an outfit the day of has been stress I am glad I dont usually deal with. Also I am learning I am allowed to change styles and stop buying the items that no longer work for my body or lifestyle.
@ANNAREID29 definitely saves you so much stress in starting your day. And the go-to outfits are also great as backups if your outfit you planned failed or you had a rough morning mishap 😆!
I love your mom taught you this young. I just started doing this about 3 years ago and it truly improved not only my style, but my days. I no longer stress in the morning trying to find something, iron it, etc. I put aside two hours every Sunday, I check my schedule and the weather for the week, I then mix and match different things until I have outfits/shoes/bags/accessories picked for every day, I then steam/iron everything and hang them on one of them small hanging wardrobe things. Lol. (I got on Amazon for $35) Now every morning I go right to that and everything is waiting. My day starts easy which impacts my mood and the rest of my day. Thanks for sharing your story. I definitely wish I was taught this younger. You clearly have a smart, caring mother.
Thank you Anna! Your personality and humor is a bonus to your videos. Hilarious about the strings riding up your face when you spoke 😂 Can you please share the ABCs of where and how to start dressing to your style?
I need to do a video on this! It’s a lot! But one of the biggest places to start is going to your closet and pulling out the items that you always wear when you want to feel beautiful and comfortable and see what they have in common ❤️
I too have made all those mistakes. I love the one about "saving" things for a special occasion. Then they go out of style before I have worn them enough. Thanks for your videos!
When I saw old photos in my 20s I noticed I only used to wear ugly pullovers and jeans when going to university or cute tight dresses that were not comfortable when going out in the evening...I'm 33 now and I have radically changed my style, pteferring cute and comfortable outfits 👍
I plan my outfit the night before and it works out wonders for me. And playing dress up and coming up with new outfit ideas has been a game changer for weekend looks.
Thank you. I have made all of those too. I am retired now and rethinking the casual clothes. I’m in Florida too and tank top flip flops and Jean shorts. Now filling in basics , I have some go up outfits and searching for cute casual clothes. I watched other ladies but I find you help me the most. ❤
Boy oh boy did this video really hit the mark. Thank you thank you thank you. Practical advice we all can use. Plan your outfit. You bet. I put my outfit out the night before to eliminate the panic of what do I wear today. The turtleneck turning the collar IN was genius and I feel looks much more polished. You go girl.
I have a large hook on the outside of my closet door and when I worked, at night I would put out my outfit for the next day, including my jewelry. Now, I still put out an outfit for a special night or occasion or something I know is coming up. It’s a good habit because then I know I have everything I need and there’s no surprises last minute.
So many of these mistakes I made. No basics in my wardrobe. Just all fancy, going-out clothing. I have many more basics to layer and combine with a eye-catching pieces. Great video!
Dear Anna, I used to make many of your mistakes too, nice to recognize and fix them as you get older. The focus also changes and you have a better connection to yourself. I am very glad that I have you by my side with my current mistakes and can always learn something. Thank you so much (and wearing extra earrings today for special occasions 😉 ). Greetings from the 🇨🇭
I’m a fairly new subscriber and I find your videos very helpful. you’re very relatable and authentic. Thanks for advocating to being comfortable in one’s own body at the same time staying fashionable. ❤❤❤
Great video Anna....and oh my god, I still I think make the first fashion mistake: buy a lot of "going out to party" clothes and not enough good quality everyday clothes!!
Anna, i love your tips! I am late to see this vid as i have been at a baseball tournament. I like many of the women who love you, am in my mid sixties. I still am learning and ditching old bad habits. My mother taught me to save the good things for a special occasion too. I now wear the good stuff on dates with my hubby while i can. I have always been an outfit planner. I always pull out the pieces the night before, including jewelry and undies. I recently had 2 funerals to attend. I was able to pull great outfits out of my wardrobe that looked great. Thank you!
Omg, you have just described everything I do, and I have just discovered recently that I don't have any clothes for day to day, that fit Thank you for the helpful tips 🙂
I’ve made each and every mistake you touched on🤦🏼♀️…I love that long green dress with the black boots on you! So gorzhe! Love your channel- only gets better!
This was a great video, Anna, thank you. I can definitely say that I don't have enough decent, everyday clothes but I'm working on fixing that. I also have this problem of trating some clothes and jewelry of mine like they are museum pieces and I don't wear them like I should. It doesn't help me where I live in Southern California. Not too many people I see really dress consciously for everyday wear. Gymwear is everywhere and men wear long shorts and sandals no matter what the weather is. My work means scrubtops and comfortable pants similar to scrub pants but they're stretchy. So there you have it, I'm uninspired by what I see around me. Your videos bring inspiration. I'm going to try to wear my museum pieces a few times each month I hope, it's a start!! :)
I love playing dress up with my clothes - and if I find something that really looks good I'll take a photo of it. When I travel, I do this so I remember how I was going to put certain things together (when you're packing the minimum amount of clothes). The coat thing is interesting - I don't work, so don't really need a dressy business coat, but living in the Boston area, my main criteria is that it be warm! Hard to find really stylish and warm. I think the thing that has taken me longest to get on board with, is ignoring the size on the label, and just buying something that fits, and is comfortable (slow learner!).
I live in Texas. I tend to wear sleeveless shirts and shorts or jeans. I’m a comfort over fashion with 4 kids from 9-3. I tend to wash clothes that stink or I cleaned in. Word of advice, have a selection that you clean in (don’t mind if it is raggedy), have another for special occasions that can be dressed up or down, and a everyday outfits. I don’t buy oversized clothes. I can’t stand something that makes me look like a barge like maxi dresses. If I don’t like the look then I’m not wearing it out. If I can’t please me then I’m not pleasing anyone else. I’m a full hourglass so showing off the waist is always a plus for me. Know your body type before shopping around.
Here is something I learned as I got older, I live in Wisconsin. Nice coats, a matching hat, matching scarf and most importantly, gloves that match and best if the gloves are leather. I have spent time now on making my outerwear more stylish and elevated. Oh yes, boots!
Great video, Anna. I'm guilty of so many of those mistakes. Why have I not considered cost per wear and invested in better quality clothing? Thank for the great advice! XXOO ❤️
So glad to know you're in your 40s I absolutely love you and your ideas and thought for a moment that maybe to were too" young" for me with your fashion tips and your not!! I'm 53
In my 20s I used to “be on” all the time, I mean head to toe on. Even when I went through a depression I would be dressed to the 9s. I remember running errands and a friend asked me to stop by. She was doing a photoshoot at her house and she asked me to take a photo with her. I had on a black stressless drew, heels and my hair and makeup were done. It was totally unplanned but I stayed ready! Then the psych meds I was on caused me to gain weight and I didn’t know what to do. I started to cover myself and didn’t always wear flattering clothes. I’m now in my 40s and I’ve learned to dress comfortable, cute casual. My feet and ankles aren’t what they used to be after years of running around in heels and doing distance running. So yes cute and comfort must be aligned. Thank you Anna!
Great video, I did the same thing at that age . I went from being very conservative but in style to not knowing what quite look good on me because I was a bigger size I made all the same mistakes and I’ve learned a lot and I can dress 100% better now and I’m 67.😊
great video, love it! funny ... in the mid 80s, sebastian hair brand came out with an eyeshadow palette that was about 14"x14" with almost 100 colors - all extremely vibrant and saturated. i would get read to "go out to a club" and think, how many of these colors can i wear at once?! lolol, ha those were the days, thanks for the reminder. second comment, hahaha i still purchase things and hold them, i've even done it to the extreme, waiting for a *special* occasion to wear the fab dress or fab shoes and then ... maybe only wore it once because it was off trend or the weather changed slightly {i'm in florida too}. thank you for taking time to make these videos. :)
Hi Anna! I definitely made most if not all of those mistakes in my 20's, 30's and even 40's. It makes me laugh (cringe) to look back through old pictures. I wish I knew then what I know now...of course that applies to more subjects than just fashion!! Have a great week!!
The decades-long drought here in California finally convinced me to stop washing my clothes after every short wearing. My clothes now look just as clean, but a lot less worn out and faded. I do a lot of spot-cleaning, brushing, steaming and airing with a fan on, instead of just automatically chucking everything into the wash. My ex one time re-laundered (on high water level) and machine dried a single, clean shirt because it got wrinkled when he changed his mind about wearing it and didn’t hang it back up! No wonder we all needed to reform our water use. (For this problem, I just spritz the wrinkles with some water and put it in the dryer for a few minutes, or put it in the dryer with my next wet load. But, more lately, I stopped tumble-drying clothes altogether, unless I deliberately want to shrink something, lime cotton pants to be hemmed. Might as well save gas and electric, as well as water).
I always play dress up with my clothes and I love it! I also take pictures or have like a “list” with combinations so when I’m in a rush I just pick something from there 🤭. And everytime I know that I have a party or a dinner coming I think about my outfits and try them on so I don’t make that “I was in a rush and just thrown something on me” mistake 🤭
When I was in my 20's with zero money .. I purchased a rain/trench coat for cooler weather. I thought it was so versatile because it had a heavy lining that could be removed ~ and while wearing it one day, I recall two gals making fun of me (within ear shot) for wearing it when it wasn't raining.
Great video! Just found you lately and am playing catch-up. Really enjoy your fun personality and great fashion tips. So many of these mistakes resonated with me as I was guilty of the same ! 😂
One regret I have from my 20s, was not have much fashion sense: Early 20s---Instead of a purse, I often lugged around a backpack even when I wasn't in class! I worked at Eddie Bauer, where we had to wear khaki bottoms and denim tops, so I wore these pleated khaki pants (yikes!), and to top it off, I paired it with a button shirt without even bother to knot the front. I also didn't pay much attention to classics, and gravitated towards funky items such as tops with ladybugs printed all over (lol!) or green lipstick. Later 20s---Wearing flipflops when I wasn't around a beach or pool. It might have been the style back then, but just no! Wearing sandals after Labor Day. I still ignore this rule, depending on the weather, but I was wearing those at a job interview. Only giving myself enough time in the mornings to shower before work, so I would throw on a shapeless turtleneck sweater with grey trousers. Bonus part was sporting a jaw-length bob. Yeah, I probably looked so chic (sarcasm).
I asked in a previous comment where did you get that beige and grey (or olive green) bomber jacket with the black stripe? It looks fabulous. In a previous video you referenced every else but that jacket.
Looking good takes work... people with style didn't get there by throwing things on at the last minute..... they actually cultivate their look over time
One mistake I made alot in my twenties was "fantasy shopping" I would buy things for " what if" situations, or I would buy something that was totally not me and I wasn't super comfortable in it but it looked good, I read somewhere that shopping when you're ovulating can cause you to buy things you normally wouldn't because sexy time hormones
I love watching your videos. I watch a lot of fashion and makeup for mature women content and have found that many contributors say the same things, which is to be expected, right? I have to say that I would rather hear fashion content from you than just about anyone because your personality and sense of humor are so fun for me. I love it when you sneak in an occasional family picture or video, especially when it is comical, but I am taking a long time to say that you do an awesome job and I am glad I found your videos! On a side note, in some videos I have seen you wearing a chain belt with, I think, three strands of chain going across the front. Is it by any chance something that is still available? I have looked on Amazon and found something similar but thought I would check with you just in case you have a source for this belt.
Thank you so much! This is such a sweet comment I really appreciate it ❤️❤️ Here is the chain belt I have rvlv.me/Ns6EJq I love it and it's super high quality but here is a dupe on Amazon: amzn.to/3EnwQVC
I can relate to so many of these! I used to go wander around Nordstrom when I was making a moderate wage; knowing in my heart I couldn’t afford anything there lol. I do love investing in shoes, will by something a little trendy here and there, but mostly invest in comfortable, cute shoes. Love curating a wardrobe of clothes that make me feel happy, can get ready fairly quickly and mixing in sparkle or the special occasion pieces too. Thanks Anna for the memory lane walk and helping me know I’m making better choices at my age. Btw your makeup looks beautiful today! You look great! 💜
I just found your channel and subscribed! I have a question. I recently heard that the trend of tucking the shirt or sweater in just at the front of the waist is going away. Is that true?
You’re so cute I don’t know why I died laughing when you said I can focus on my makeup then so I can make it look like I didn’t get hit in the face with umm aah a bus. So chipper and cute. Haha you’re adorable and I felt that.
So many great tips! I go through my wardrobe when the seasons change in NJ. Gives me the chance to “try on and play” with my clothes. I work in a medical group at a military base. Long stressful but rewarding days. Planning my outfits for the week is crucial for me. Also, I’ve been getting away from “saving things for a special occasion”. My mom passed away almost nine years ago. She had so much stuff (jewelry, shoes, perfume, clothes, etc) for those special occasions. Life isn’t a guarantee to get to those events. Use the things that bring you joy. ❤🎉
I can proudly say that I haven’t been guilty of all of them. 😉 But of some for sure. I am absolutely still guilty of buying clothes that I love and do look good in but have no occasions to wear them to. Goes for shoes as well! The dress-up is a great idea. I should get into that.
Yes, I found out early on that I was long-waisted. I cannot buy a regular shirtwaist-style dress, the waist is like an empire-style on me. I have a few dresses that are shift-style, very few. Mostly I go for separates. We find out these things as we go along!
I am new to your channel and I am alot older than you, but I still get alot of ideas from you and enjoy your channel, especially your sense of humor. I am like you about washing my clothes every time I wear them, but the reason I still do is because I am afraid of cootie germs being on them. I fight getting sick of step of the way. If it's a heavy sweater I will hang it outside to maybe air the cooties out, but I may be just fooling myself on that one. I guess I sound like a fanatic.🙄
I've definitely been guilty of the shoe mistake - putting all my effort in my clothes and then ruining the look with ugly, dirty, and/or scuffed shoes. Now I have fewer, better quality shoes that I'm motivated to take good care of. My super biggest mistake, especially in my 20s though, was buying whatever was on trend no matter how badly it suited my body shape and colouring. I'm wayyyy over that nonsense now :-)
When very young is the time to try out silly fads. The only down side is fast fashion turning the occasional garment to an addiction with the help of Tik Tok and social media in general. Many young people are growing up never knowing what quality looks and feels like.
@@marye813 That is SO true. Another influencer here on YT gave some great advice a few weeks back - go to stores you can't afford and try things on anyway. You'll get to know what quality fabric looks/feels like and what good construction and finishing details look like. If nothing else, it can really help you decide which blazer to buy at the consignment store or which investment piece is worth your hard earned savings during the end-of-season sales....
Wear the 💎 Diamonds! Use the China! We are not guaranteed tomorrow ✨️
This is so true! ❤️❤️❤️
OMG, I literally just added a comment before reading this. It’s a story from when I was younger. You simplified it so well. I could not agree with you more!
I agree 💯 ❤lol be prepared though I have lost two Diamond earrings and a ring 🤦🏼♀️
Right!!!! So do I....but it lasted decades to get to that point.
Totally agree 👍👍
Thank you for sharing this heartfelt message. Wear what makes you feel special and amazing. We are not promised tomorrow.
Thank you for sharing this! That is a very sad but important story ❤️❤️❤️
Totally agree. Why do we wear the ' ugly stuff " and save the good stuff. We then end up wearing the 'ugly stuff" more. It makes no sense!!
Thank you, Laurie 💖!
Absolutely!
I am 67 years old. My body has changed A LOT over the years and it is a constant project to be accepting and love the body I have right now. I appreciate the idea that we should accept who we are and dress with confidence for the body we currently have. So, thank you, Anna!
El mío también ❤️🇦🇷
It's such a constant struggle isn't it! But I feel like if if we were on our death bed, we would regret all the times we hemmed and hawed about some imperfection on us and didn't just enjoy ourselves 🙈❤️
Love Anna, would sure like to go shopping with her, I swear I'll treat her for lunch! She makes a lot of sense, & love all her outfits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For your Part 10, mistakes I've made:
Don't just always buy black shoes and belts and jackets because "black goes with everything." It took me a long time to figure out that it doesn't.
Love this!!! I totally agree about the black shoes / belt there needs to be some variety! ❤️
I often like brown belts for that reason. Brown leather belts look good and classy with most of the clothes, also softer than black.
Yes, diamonds go with everything!
These are fashion "mistakes" that we all go through in our younger years. I prefer to call them "experiences". Most of us can totally relate. It brought back plenty of memories..💕☺
Lol experiences… I like that! ❤️❤️
Si experiencia 👏👍💯🇦🇷
I just learned about not needing to wash my items every time I wear them. I’ve done it if I just wore an item for a couple of hours but I just give it the old sniff test. 😂
I love my skinny jeans because I can wear my tall boats with them since even straight jeans bunch up at the top.
A good washing machine makes a difference in how clothes look and how long they last.
Man I really love that last sentence because I can completely relate to that! ❤️❤️❤️
Siempre positiva 💯🇦🇷
YES about playing dressup!! This is such a game changer for getting dressed in the morning! Best Saturday afternooon activity!!
My best friend decides THE DAY OF what she's going to wear and always laughs at me 😆
Oh man!! You are probably a very organized person too! That is amazing! ❤️❤️❤️
OUFITS lindos ❤️🇦🇷
That’s amazing! I love that you decided to figure it out and took the time to do so ❤️❤️
I’m retired. I have a fancy lacy long top to wear to dress up events. Don’t do that much anymore. Now, I use it as a fancy housecoat. And I feel fabulous darling. 😁
Busted! I always “save” some clothes for that “special occasion” - I need to stop doing that! Thanks!
We’re all guilty of that! ❤️❤️
Qué bueno 👌💯🇦🇷
omg I freaking love it when that happens 🙌 That's amazing!
Such a great video! I give a name to styling clothes in advance…Practice Wears… while I worked I tried my my clothes on for the week every Sunday night…it truly made a less stressful work week…I still do my practice wears for any special occasions and highly recommend this😊
That’s such an amazing habit to be in! ❤️
I'm not quite as organised as that, but I do like to always have a 2 back up outfits - 1 casual & also
1 smart outfit..
( That is always laundered & any buttons fixed & ready to go at short notice.)
It was a god send, just recently as I had a smart event & the dress that
I planned to wear looked awful..( 2 small from the last time I had worn it.)
So I wasn't totally in a panic, even though it wasn't the outfit I had hoped 2 wear..👗
Ugh, I completely relate to so many of these. Sadly, I did this almost into my early 40’s. Especially number 1.
Girl same! I know the feeling! ❤️
Oooh, Anna. I'm so glad you encourage "playing dress up" in our closet. Some of my girlfriends do it too but the ones who don't would say that I have too much free time. 😅 I like to think that my time is well spent on the things I enjoy.
It is very well spent! That sounds "unnecessary" but it is sooo necessary! lol
I love that your mom stresses the importance of that! I’m trying to do this with my daughter as well ❤️
@ANNAREID29 definitely saves you so much stress in starting your day.
Hay que arreglarse 💯🇦🇷
@@marieseiden924 es verdad 💯🇦🇷
I really appreciate that your fashion mistakes are more about mindset and behavior than actual items or outfits.
Thank you Anna! This was a great reminder on the mistakes we have all made at one time or another.💜
❤️❤️❤️
Mucha gracia 💯🇦🇷
You can wear amazing jewelry anytime, as it makes you feel so special. This is a great video, thank you.
Hard to imagine you not looking good in anything-you’re so lovely! Thanks for all the encouraging and tips!
Thank you Anna! Your personality and humor is a bonus to your videos. Hilarious about the strings riding up your face when you spoke 😂
Can you please share the ABCs of where and how to start dressing to your style?
I need to do a video on this! It’s a lot! But one of the biggest places to start is going to your closet and pulling out the items that you always wear when you want to feel beautiful and comfortable and see what they have in common ❤️
@@ANNAREID29 Thank you! Love that nugget ❤️
Thank you, Gail so glad to hear this! ❤️❤️
I also cut those thread loops for belts and those silicone or ribbon holders off tops, too. Great vlog Anna!
I totally agree on all points! I play dress-up ever weekend!
Anna your absolutely right! The French have it right, less is more, quality vs. Quantity! You are so fun to watch, love your honesty and humor!
I’m 33 and I completely understand what you are saying, love it! Love your channel ❤
Oh, my goodness! You named EVERY fashion mistake I've ever made. Brilliant!
LOL we are not alone! ❤️❤️❤️
Greetings from the 🇨🇭
Yes!! Please Ms Anna...a part II it is!
(we need reminders...lol)
Thank you again !
helene :)
Your videos are my sunshine! God bless you, Anna!
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love your t-shirt!
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes! I definitely play dress up and make my outfits, you are so right
🙌🙌🙌🙌
Useful tips. 🥰
❤️❤️❤️
I’ve made each and every mistake you touched on🤦🏼♀️…I love that long green dress with the black boots on you! So gorzhe!
Love your channel- only gets better!
You absolutely nailed it with this video!
Excellent advice. I’m still making some of there😱
I love playing dress up with my clothes - and if I find something that really looks good I'll take a photo of it.
You’re so right about excessive clothes washing. Just think how much water (and our clothes)we could all be saving by washing less.
Exactly! So many benefits to not washing after every wear ❤️
Thank you Anna!
This is a wonderful video, so relatable and great advice (in the comments too!) Thanks for making it and giving some much needed perspective.
XXOO ❤️
Glad you liked it, Pat! ❤️
Bravo! The beauty of aging is knowledge & experiences & confidence.
Totally! ❤️❤️❤️
❤Thanks for the tips. Sometimes it’s better to know what to avoid first❤
You are rocking those white jeans!!
Comfortable and cute shoes, yeah👏
I made all the mistakes you made, too
So glad to know you're in your 40s
I absolutely love you and your ideas and thought for a moment that maybe to were too" young" for me with your fashion tips and your not!!
We really do get wiser with age! 🙌🙌❤️
I can totally relate!
❤️❤️❤️
great video, love it! funny ... in the mid 80s, sebastian hair brand came out with an eyeshadow palette that was about 14"x14" with almost 100 colors - all extremely vibrant and saturated. i would get read to "go out to a club" and think, how many of these colors can i wear at once?! lolol, ha those were the days, thanks for the reminder. second comment, hahaha i still purchase things and hold them, i've even done it to the extreme, waiting for a *special* occasion to wear the fab dress or fab shoes and then ... maybe only wore it once because it was off trend or the weather changed slightly {i'm in florida too}. thank you for taking time to make these videos. :)
Loved this video! I made a lot of the same "mistakes" back in the day!
It's kind of nice to know how far we've come 🤣❤️
Oh, Sweet Anna! You are maturing. All good stuff. Imagine how wise you will be when you become a grandmother.
Hi Anna! I definitely made most if not all of those mistakes in my 20's, 30's and even 40's. It makes me laugh (cringe) to look back through old pictures. I wish I knew then what I know now...of course that applies to more subjects than just fashion!! Have a great week!!
It's fun / embarrassing / a great memory all at the same time 🤣
The decades-long drought here in California finally convinced me to stop washing my clothes after every short wearing.
Ah yes love this! Also, we've all experienced the partner who doesn't know how was do our clothes 🤣🤣
Great suggestions. I’ve definitely had that shoulder loop go up my face😂😂😂😂
Haha!! We all have 🤣🤣
Great video! Just found you lately and am playing catch-up. Really enjoy your fun personality and great fashion tips. So many of these mistakes resonated with me as I was guilty of the same ! 😂
One regret I have from my 20s, was not have much fashion sense:
Early 20s---Instead of a purse, I often lugged around a backpack even when I wasn't in class!
Aw I'm so sorry! That jacket is sold out everywhere! 🙈 But it's by Ena Pelly and if you google the brand, there are other coats just as cute ❤️
Where did you get the black , green, and cream fleece?
GREAT video...and I'm decades older than you are! Your advice is applicable to ALL ages!!!
Si en ocasiones 👌💯🇦🇷
Thank you so much! This is such a sweet comment I really appreciate it ❤️❤️ Here is the chain belt I have rvlv.me/Ns6EJq I love it and it's super high quality but here is a dupe on Amazon: amzn.to/3EnwQVC
Thank you for the belt reference.
Thank you, Autumn! And glad you liked this! ❤️❤️
This is so true! Love this, Tiffany ❤️
@@ANNAREID29 Awww. Thank you.
I can proudly say that I haven’t been guilty of all of them. 😉 But of some for sure. I am absolutely still guilty of buying clothes that I love and do look good in but have no occasions to wear them to. Goes for shoes as well! The dress-up is a great idea. I should get into that.
Yes, Melanie! Grab a glass of wine, some good music, start playing dress up 😄❤️
Aww.. Hi from Boston!!!! 😊
Hi!!! Boston has a piece of my heart ❤️
You look great! I'm 73 and even though I've lost weight, there isn't anything smooth on my body! Lol
LOL well if it makes you feel better...but maybe you could just use a spray to get rid of germs? ❤️❤️
Loved your video as always ❤️
Thank you so much!!
I know that’s stock footage but I love that white mesh jacket that model is wearing! 😆 Also, love your videos!
Thank you! ❤️
I'm wayyyy over that nonsense now :-)
Same!!! ❤️❤️
You are hilarious Anna! You always make me laugh! Cheers from Oz 🤗🤣🇦🇺❤️
Oh thank you!❤️❤️
Guilty of many 😜😜😜
Thanks dear.
