It's like Ursula was made for Queen Latifah, for this moment alone.
And now noone will compare
I love that you can still hear Pat Carroll's laugh in the background. Queen Latifah did a wonderful job, and I am so glad they also included that small but iconic portion of the original.
Who needs Ariel's voice if you can sing like this?
Siren theory.
Queen Latifah stole the show!
Sebastien Soriano but she barely sang? It was just spoken in rhythm..
Is that zeref there
Is that ZEREF ?!!
2:09 “Then guess what gurl you’ll turn back into a mergurl same as you once were gurl, but dat tail’ll be mine” THE LEGEND JUMPED OUT
Too ghetto tbh.
It's spelled girl. In English anyway.
raykellerman1978 Ebonics* 🙄
Phillip YASS!! I felt all that!
raykellerman1978 Who do u think u are lmao
she legit just burned her hand on that "pretty face" part. That must have hurt like a mother. Kudos to her for not breaking character!
Chris Onareo time stamp?
Brittany Brooks 2:43
That's what i thought, i kept rewinding, to why is she reacting like that, but she pulled off and continued without any problem
Chris Onareo Wow I never noticed that and she improvised it so well like it was part of the performance. Nice job Queen Latifiah
Daniel Escobedo wow, she was so good I didn’t even notice👏🏽😍
Her performance was incredible! I love the way they wrote in that extra new verse that the original cartoon didn’t have. I had this on repeat!
I love how she acted the role not just sing it
fucking ariel just sat there.. performance had to be carried by THE queen
Queen Latifah was the best part of the entire show.
Meeka Anthony I totally agree!
When you didn't even realize she actually burned her hand until you read the comments.
Just shows how good an actress she is 👏👏
wouldn't it technically be the opposite, a good actress should easily convey she burned her hand? I saw it first viewing.
Oh I thought that was just part of the act, guess not?
@@solidkake8411 i was just about to comment this
Thank you I thought I was the only one who noticed that! 😅
Wait you didn’t see it the first time you watched it? That’s a little mad I caught on as soon as it happened I was like wait what happened there, but she played it off massively well
Her performance gives me chills. Wow incredible 🔥🔥🔥
😂😂😂
@@vim2339 🤡 haters gonna hate
We need to petition for Queen Latifa to be in the version with Halle
Halle Berry?
Miss Cleo no... Halle Bailey. She’s gonna be Ariel in the 2020 little mermaid movie
Ursula was made as an inspiration from the drag queen Divine so imo, Ursula should be played by a drag queen. Google ginger minj ursula singing
@@UngiftedRoses when I first read about queen Latifah doing this, I thought they meant the live action lol
@Nya Milan this all of this she'd be amazing
She got burned and stayed in character? They need her for the live action.
Edit: thx for the likes, I think there are many broadway actors and actresses that should be in disney live actions. They can sing, act, and dance and do plenty of talented things especially immersed themselves in the role as they do so onstage. Idk it's just my opinion but I think disney overlooks them.
I would be THRILLED! She did such a great job in "Chicago" & "Hairspray" too! I also loved some of her non-singing roles like "Last Holiday" & "Living Single. I do a lot of Ursula related content on my UA-cam channel (l can share links) as I felt she was the most honest villain & super sassy as well! Part of that is because she was based on a drag queen Divine. ua-cam.com/video/I8FXz3tqA0g/v-deo.html
This is me singing with my own voice, with commentary on how refreshingly honest Ursula is: ua-cam.com/video/J50pDHACAAg/v-deo.html
I didn't even realize that she got burnt until i read the comments :))) I thought it was a part of her act :)))
Exactly
Pero si ni hizo nada, en esta actuación, nada hizo... solo repitió diálogos.
She is gorgeous the best part of the show
Jessica Tellez I agree she stole the show
Yessss Queen Latifah was ✨FABULOUS✨ during this performance and in general!!!
she even sounds like the original she’s prefect for the live action
R.I.P we got Melissa McCarthy
@@phasemollasis6748 They miscast everyone for that shoddy live action
@@Laura-Yu I think the casting for Ariel was perfect
@@Laura-Yu agreed
Ariana grande as Ariel
Queen Latifa as Ursula
This would’ve been a smarter choice
@@gilbertmillers4865 ariana is Hispanic. Ariel can only be white.
Queen Latifa slays everything she does. Even in this mess of a show she killed the part
💯‼
Dylan Maes nope this sucked lacked the energy the og had
They should've used her for the remake too😩❤
@Unique08 LMFAO this killed me
@Unique08 STFU fish eye fool.
When I say that she stole that entire show. I mean it wasn’t even close, from the second she got on stage the show WAS HERS.

She said she was scared about singing that particular song but, I thought her performance was one of the best!! ❤
If you need a Ursula pick a Queen-she slayed this.
Queen Latifah is truly amazing. Lowered her register to create Ursula as her own. LOVE IT.
Richard Samuels she really did that truly shook
this is was real live action little mermaid IMO. So much more entertaining and better with practical effects instead of tons of CGI
Queen Latifah is so talented.. she is diverse & can play damn near anything..
My guess is she could do Shakespeare as well. She should do Central Park next summer.

When I heard little mermaid was going to be a live action movie this is what I wanted! Queen Latifah was my immediate first choice! I hope the live action is just as good.
Same.
I missed this part and told my husband that if it wasn't queen latifah, I wouldn't care that I missed it. He laughed and I immediately got mad lol
It will be patheticcc
me too. I had remembered that photoshoot she did with Annie Lebowitz as Ursula and thought she would be great. But after seeing this I can't believe how right I was.
This is the live musical Melissa McCarthy will act as this role in the big screen movie
If the 'bad guy' has such a beautiful voice, she didn't need little mermaid's voice.
She never needed it! She wanted to stop Ariel from being able to express herself. The whole point was to get her father.
She just wanted it so Eric couldn’t regonize her and later to trick Eric into her being the one he was in love ir
2:43 Didn’t realized she burnt her hand on this scene until someone mentioned it.
What a professional.
2:47 "Don't forget to underestimate the importance of body language" lol. She did just burn her hand though so fair enough
Oh gods I just realised that now ahahah
I actually heard ' don't forget OR underestimate the importance of body language ' I could be wrong tho, but that would make more sense.
@@shaniqueclarke9410 she messed up because she accidentally burned herself, the actual words are “don’t underestimate the importance of body language” but the way you heard it makes it make sense!
My boyfriend said "i havent heard queen latifah rhyme like this since her rapping days " 🤧🤣
logan morgan for real though! Thought the same thing. Got all nostalgic 😂
@@HeyTash frfr 🤣🤣
Lol....okay!!
She’s the best!Like who needs Ariel’s voice when you can sing like this? Her personality is right in her name! Queen👑👑👑👑
Queen Latifa is just mesmerizing in this scene!!! It's a very difficult song to begin with, but burning her hand and staying in character...wow!!!
I love when she sings “the boss is on a roll” . I was like damn right

I can only imagine how seeing a show like this as a kid would be simply mind blowing. Stuff like this is how you inspire the next generation of artists and creators. Super cool. Queen Latifah is awesome as Ursula!
She owned this...the audience clapped and ariels voice wasnt even taken yet. lol god she was good. DAMN
"and don't forget to underestimate the importance of body language"
Watching it for the umpteenth time, I noticed that too. Oh well, it's a lot of lyrics to sing live.
Bothered me too
She had burned her hand seconds before that kind and was in a ton of pain
Ugh, I know. That really got under my skin. I tried to remind myself that it's a live performance, and she may have gotten a little ahead of her tongue or something.
@MouseATX She didn't actually burn her hand. That was part of the "performance." That set piece is supposed to be a cauldron. It's not an actual, boiling, hot cauldron.
Ahaha
What I really enjoy is Queen LaTifah's smile after "Life's full of tough choices, ain't it"!
This is 1000 times better than the live action movie.
