this is the coolest thing ive seen, definitely do an update for us on testing the difference in temps between this and a stock ps5 perhaps! I wonder if framerates stay steady with this build considering my stock ps5 drops frames in Warzone. Looking forward to more content 🔥 🙌🏽
I did have thoughts of doing this, but I could not find a case that would support both a ATX motherboard and a MATX motherboard (PS5 is MATX). All of the cases I found only supported a ITX and ATX. Thats why I put it in a case just by itself
Thank you! So all of the ports that would be on the back of the PS5 normally (USB, Ethernet, and HDMI) are all still there and fully functional for plugging into. The ports you lose when doing this are the front USB ports and the power switch/reset button. As long as you have a controller that is synced with the PS5, all you do is turn on the power switch and then press the PS button on the controller and the PS5 boots up like normal. When you are done, you will need to do a full shut down on the PS5 so that way you can flip the power switch that controls everything. This way your fans, RGB, and water loop pump dont constantly run.
I already have a watercooled 4090 build. But i have a ps5 slim just lying round for casual play and was curious if i could actually make a baby pc out of it. Welp looks like i found my new project.
@@PidgyPCs yea i saw they aren’t producing it anymore, but i did find one in stock on a Portuguese website. I have family there by pure luck, gonna see what i can do there :)
@@PidgyPCs don’t get me wrong this water cooled ps5 is impressive, but as far as being prepared for a game like gta 6, top of the line specs is necessary and that would be PC but since no one wants to wait for gta 6 to drop on PC, the next best thing is the ps5 pro, but props to you for your creativity
@@Casiot I get that completely! I honestly dont know if I will just wait till GTA6 drops for the PC or if I will buy it for 1 of my consoles as well so I can play it before the PC release. Just have to see the time frame of release. Appreciate it for sure though!!!
As someone who watches a lot of content on UA-cam, you need to work on thumbnails man! You 100% shouldve had an awesome picture of the water cooled ps5 as the thumbnail instead of just you and a ps5, only clicked because I saw it on twitter Just wanted to give some advice from a yt addict 😎
This looks really cool, but may i ask how it affects the PS5's performance? Obviously the temperature will be lower, but will it run faster or something?
Unfortunately no. The performance will stay the exact same due to consoles being locked at a certain performance. The only benefit this gives is lower temps for the system and a quieter operation.
So in order to make the PSU work, a 24pin short cable was installed with a jumper attached to it. This way all you have to do is just turn on the PSU and give everything power. In terms of whats in the build, I have all of that in the description of the video 🙂
@@PidgyPCs all good. I’ve watched. Was only curious about the connection for powering it up. Sucks that having to use a bridge and then manually turning it on and off.
@@AusRED5 So you can wire it with a on-off switch as well so that way you can turn the PSU on with the push of a button, but I couldnt find a spot on the case that would actually look good. So I just left it as a flipping of the PSU switch
@@PidgyPCs right…. I understand that thought but it’s hard to explain here but on my PS4 build. There is a way to power on and off that will switch the PSU off like on a PC. There is a blog about this and I’ve made my own version of it. But due to the way EK has built the PS5 block using the PCI E cables. I’m not sure how to translate the PS4 cable idea to the PS5. Anyways.
Appreciate the offer, but I dont have any plans to water cool another console at the moment LOL And yes, that is the ASUS ROG Swift 42" 4K OLED monitor 😁
So I will be honest that I don't have the slightest clue about how to get benchmarks off a Console. In terms of temps, aside from mounting a temp probe to the die itself and monitoring it outside the case, there isn't a way to track the temps. Coolant I can kind've guesstimate what the actual temp on the system is. For FPS, I don't know of any software that is console compatible that will allow me to see what the FPS is before and after. Cant really do a before at this point unless I buy another exact model PS5 to test. What I do know is that the coolant temp does not exceed 35°C. In the past when I have seen that coolant temp, that means the component its going over is in the high 50s / low 60s for temps. From all the data I have collected in regards to the PS5 as well as other people who have done this mod say that there is no performance benefit aside from a cooler running system that is also quieter. That I can confirm. But for the performance side of things, it doesnt matter if its stock or water cooled, it will perform the exact same.
@@PidgyPCs I can understand how that might be a fine line to walk. I have every bit of faith that you will get something that works for you and the viewers.
The PCB wouldnt work for this waterblock. The waterblock is only compatible with the model prior to the Slim that was released between October of 2022 and November of 2023
So the PlayStation 5 PCB when its mounted in the waterblock, the ports for the wires/ribbon cable are un covered and on the back side of the block. The wires were long enough to reach the disk drive on the side of the case :)
Nuts, bolts, and washers from the local hardware store LOL. A 6/32 bolt is just big enough to fit through the hole of the disk drive perfectly without modifying anything. Only thing I had to do was bend the tab just slightly on the back side so that way the disk drive comes on and off easily
