Love your wedding story. So special! You looked so beautiful. Love what your mother in law did to the dress. Amazing work. Thank you for sharing your story.
You’ve become a very intimate part of my morning. Just you and me and several thousand of your UA-cam family. My husband passed away 11 years ago past August, so sharing your family with me means a lot especially when I’m feeling alone. Please know you’re so much more than entertainment, you’re a joyful bundle of goodness.
Chana, you were a beautiful bride. You're so correct, your mother-in-law is amazing! I love the outtakes at the end of your videos, they're so funny! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us!
I love you and your family! I am a 77 year old grandma from Oklahoma, USA. I most usually watch you on my TV. You have a beautiful smile and such pretty eyes! No wonder your husband fell for you! And he is also sooo handsome! 😊 May God continue to bless your lovely family!
Your MIL did a fabulous job on your dress, it is absolutely beautiful as were you and your husband.....you still are.......loved hearing the different traditions for your wedding. Sounds wonderfully exhausting! All in a good way. Thank you for sharing. Cheers from Canada....
You looked so beautiful. Your husbands’ happiness shows in his eyes. I was awestuck by seeing what your mother-in-law made from the 10 yr old used halter topped wedding gown. She is a very talented Renaissance Woman - your gown is the most beautiful modest style gown i have ever seen. There are several religions that prefer modest gowns and they could use yours as a gorgeous design. I also noticed your mil’s dress ( at least i think that was her feeding you wine) that aqua gown was also stunning. When my family (10 siblings) have had weddings its very similar in everyone contributing-“ many hands make light work” (and delicious food) So glad you shared such a joyous occasion with us.
It is a very Christian wedding gown. It was Queen Victoria who set the fashion for white wedding dresses. Seems incongruous at a Jewish Orthodox wedding.
This was so lovely! My partner is Ashkenazi and I am converting through the Conservative movement, but am half-Syrian so when we do get married I want to incorporate some Sephardi and Mizrahi traditions into our ceremony and reception. I loved seeing the kaftan your MIL sewed!
This perhaps the third or fourth time I have watched this because you shared your day so beautifully. Thank you, Chana. Beautiful bride/Handsome groom. Delightful traditions.
My three year old son watched this video with me, and when he saw the first picture of you with your veil he said, "She's an ice princess!" Then he saw a picture of you and your husband and said, "Oh.... they are getting married. Are they getting married?" So cute!! Absolutely beautiful photos. It is so fun to look back on a wedding day. ❤ My husband and I are celebrating 16 years this November. I will have to pull out my wedding photos. 😊
What a lovely bride! And I can't help but notice ten years after your wedding day, you are still glowing with love, it's all over your face and in your happy eyes! So very nice to see!
Chana, this video made me so emotional. It was the happiness on your faces and the sense of community which reminded me of home. I’m from India but live elsewhere now. Back in the old days, weddings used to be like this where the entire community would come together to help celebrate the occasion. Also, it is so interesting to see similarities in different traditions. Such as the henna ceremony, it is such an Indian thing as many Hindu communities (not all) do that as well. The tradition of the bride circling 7 times that you mentioned sounds so much like how Hindus do 7 circles (both bride and groom) around the fire to pledge their allegiance to each other. And not to mention your MIL sewing skills, I could not tell that the dress you wore was a halter neck!! Thank you for this beautiful video Chana and I hope you keep smiling and spreading joy always. 🙃☺️
I have always loved wedding dresses with long sleeves! And yes to small weddings, marriages and funerals are huge events here in Ireland with hundreds of people typically attending but I find them overwhelming as an introvert.
Chana, I am crying real tears! First, because your husband reminded me of mine when I met him..same coloring, etc. I miss him so much. But, on to the happy stuff..what a BEAUTIFUL wedding, and, what a gorgeous couple you were (still are)! I share so much in common with you; I'm also an introvert who doesn't care for big parties or lots of people. When you speak on that topic, I find myself nodding in agreement. I've always felt Jewish in my heart; you were so wise and courageous to pursue your dream. I've been looking forward to this video; thank you SO much for sharing your wedding with us. Many blessings to you and your family..wishing you a very long and happy lifetime of love together! Rosemarie 💖
I think it’s amazing how close knit Jewish families are and how your in laws did all the catering and your MIL made your dress modest and made the other lovely outfit (don’t know how to spell it 😂) I think people could learn a lot from your way of life! It’s so true when people say it takes a village I would feel so blessed to be able to raise my kids in such a tight knit community full of like minded people, hopefully one day🙏🏼❤️
@@jaroffireflies I forgot to mention that my best friend wore my wedding gown. She got married 1 year and 1 month after me. I too am not sentimental about objects, just people! 💞
What a lovely bride you were! Many brides today do not see the simply beauty in a modest wedding dress. My son was married in the Phillipeans to a wonderful girl there. My daughter in law honored my request for a modest wedding dress. Needless to say I believe (as my son does) she is worth more than rubies!
Thank you for sharing this amazing celebration! You are a stunning couple who radiates pure love. I have to say, I choked up at the picture of him looking at you during the ring ceremony. What beauty! While I am Jewish, I did not have a traditional wedding (the good ol' courthouse was enough for us). I absolutely enjoy watching Orthodox ceremonies. They stir something deep in my soul. Thank you again for this glimpse into your life.

Your mil did such an awesome job with the wedding dress you could not tell that is was altered at all! It's just so amazing that your in laws made the entire wedding, what a special family!! You were such a beautiful bride! Your husband is a very handsome man too. And, the two of you seem to share a genuine respectful love. God bless you both.
Chana you did such a wonderful job explaining it all, loved your hair and make-up well done doing it yourself on such an important day! Also your mother in law did such an amazing job turning a halterneck dress into a modest but beautiful bridal gown, it sounds like you have married into a family of formidable women. Thank you so much for sharing your story and wedding pictures 🥰🥰🥰🥰
So I'm going to watch back about you being a convert. It does explain a blue eyed Sephardi, but here is my first surprise on your channel. :) I started following near the birth of your 4th child. Oh my goodness, your dress is lovely, your flowers are beautiful. I cry at weddings. When you started your pictures so did my tears. Your wedding was beautiful. Lol the outtakes.
Thank you for sharing! You and your husband make a beautiful pair. The love shines through you both. I love how your MIL jumped in and did so much for you! I loved my MIL and she became a 2nd Mom and a best friend. I miss her everyday.
Omgosh where do I start? First off, thank you so much for sharing your wedding with us. What a stunning couple you were on your special day. Your MIL does amazing sewing, just beautiful. I can’t even imagine remaking a garment! You both seemed so happy as you both seem today….and now with a family. I think the only thing that surprised me was not being allowed to touch until your wedding day!
Oh my, you looked amazing (no surprise there). I never thought your hair was that dark☺️ what a lovely story and your mom in law did a wonderful job with the dress and probably everything else. A big family like that must be lovely! I can imagine the emotional overdrive after all the wedding happiness and then in a pop you are married. Thank you for sharing.
Wow! Im so glad i found your channel. Im new to the homeschooling community and also sephardic jewish. Thanks for sharing such beautiful videos...I've seen 2 more recent ones and im hooked. Can't wait to see more. Have a beautiful day Chana ❤❤❤
I find it stunningly beautiful that the first time you touched your bridegroom was when he welcomed you to the wedding hoopa. The height of romance. It also exemplifies the high esteem that you had for one another before entering into the marriage. You must have felt quite cherished. May you always feel so cherished!
Super interesting to learn about wedding in different culture. You looked absolutely stunning in your wedding photos. Both of you and your husband looked so beautiful. I love the ways you story tell. So enjoyable!
"My family loved it." The fact that your parents fully enjoyed your wedding is a testament to their goodness. They went along with all the traditions that had become so important to you. Your husband was walked down the aisle with his family. You were also walked down the aisle with his family. The separate standing for men and women ... the separate eating for men and women, etc. I'm sure it was a lovely event and your parents genuinely loved it ... but I have to say ... your parents are an impressive display of grace and goodness. Your in laws sound like amazing and accomplished people. I'm sure, if the situation were reversed, all set around your parents' family tradition, they would have been equally gracious. The caftan was gorgeous. I would have wanted to wear that as a wedding dress!
Thank you for inviting me into this private part of your life. I feel like I have a new friend. With all my heart I wish you and your beautiful family the very best.
Thank you for making this video! I might make one about how ours went too. I'm baalat teshuva. My background is Ashkenazi, but my husband is half German Ashkenazi and half Iraqi Sephardi. Our household traditions are Ashkesphardi and so was our wedding. My husband did not wear a kittel, but I did circle him 3 times. We definitely did see each other for the week before the wedding and even the night before because we lived in NYC and got married in TX. Travel made hiding from each other impossible. Traveling for the wedding brought us closer to my family and also made it easier to keep the guest list small. We got married on Tu BeShevat. We did fast, but we scheduled the wedding for noon and had a dairy lunch, so the fast was very short. That was also good because my husband was recovering from appendicitis and I was recovering from meningitis. (The month before our wedding was a wild ride and the fact that we had gotten civilly married before either of us got sick made the hospital visits way smoother.) Our wedding had fewer than 50 people. Our chuppah was made from a big table cloth with a tree displaying all 4 seasons on a bamboo frame my uncle made. Ever since, we've used that table cloth for Shabbat meals with guests. I picked a dress that I could wear for other occasions later and realized two days before the wedding that it also had pockets! My mom is Reform and she was the only person who actually lived in the city where the wedding was. She'd never been to an Orthodox wedding. I had never been to an Orthodox wedding! But she was instrumental in making it happen. It ended up being a really great time. Neat tidbit: we were also the first couple to ever have a chuppah in the particular city where we got married, so there was an entire rabbinic back and forth to figure out how to spell the name of it on the ketuba. We set the official precedent for Hebrew spelling of the town in question, so yay us!
The both of you looked very clean on your wedding day! Your outfits were very traditional and acceptable with in the religion. It was very nice to see how you both started out.
Sounds and looks like you had a beautiful wedding. WOW your mother in law is amazing seamstress. You can’t tell your wedding dress was originally a halter top type. Your Bouquet was gorgeous!! My wedding was 23 years ago and was a surprise to me and my husband lol. We went to his family’s house for a week so I could meet them before he left on a 6 month deployment and we were told on Friday Sept 4 th we were getting married the next day. We said ummm ok. Well here we are 23 years later. By the way your husband is very handsome.
Hey darling, Im in tears right now. cant put into words how i envy you for your journey. Kinda speechless, so ill end up saying you inpired me a lot, you're so sweet and special
I was one of the special people that was there. It was amazing and I loved every minute. You are such a blessing to me and Kay! Love seeing all your videos.
Congratulations Chana you got a really beautiful wedding but now you have built a precious and blessed family. Thanks for all that you shares with us.I love when you shares any details because I can imagine the whole story .Regards from Panamá, Shabbat Shalom 🤗
Yay! I love wedding stories, they always make me think of my own wedding 🙂 You two were (and are!) such a sweet couple. As a fellow introvert I had lots of the same feelings about a wedding. But honestly, I was so caught up in actually getting married and being so happy to finally start the rest of my life with my husband, that I hardly noticed the people. Outside of the food and the flowers (the parts my mom took care of!) my wedding was pretty DIY and nothing was to fancy and that helped with my nerves too. I’m not typically a formal gal. The most fun thing about my wedding was probably that my cow was my ring bearer!
So beautiful! I loved that! I'm Mormon/LDS and we usually have to do alot of altering, etc, for our wedding dresses to be modest as well. I just loved this video! Thank you!
Omgosh!!...What a beautiful bride & groom you two were. You looked like a beautiful princess!...You are blessed beyond words to have such a wonderful religion and family. I had to LOL when you said, you invited 10 people and your husband invited the other 250 people. Lol ❤️ 😆 🤣....May G-d always bless you and your beautiful family.
Such a lovely wedding. Your Mother in law did an amazing job making your dress. Very appropriate and pretty. You both looked happy in love and thank you for sharing.
I had to pause to say how you handled your husband's family all showing up and all that craziness without having a nervous breakdown.... I could not! I'm an introvert too and just hearing you talk about it and imagining it, I would have been hiding in the closet! Lol
Beautiful! Even though my wedding was chassidish, we also have similar customs to Sephardim! (I still had to do a yichud room, but I had to cover my hair afterwards at the reception.) Also had a friend do my hair and makeup last minute because we weren't sure who could do it the day of, since mine was also a total corona wedding. Loved seeing your photos and hearing about your story!
Oh wow I didn't know ya'll did that about the hair covering! I remember they almost didn't;t let us do the wedding at the shul because it was an ashkenazi shul and they said we had to do a yichud room. We obviously refused lol I think the compromise was that we went into the rabbis office for a few minutes lol
@@jaroffireflies it really depends on the chassidus but in general most women wear a wig at the chuppah to already have had their hair covered throughout the wedding (though I chose to put on a white tichel after the yichud room!) And yeah the yichud room thing is very interesting halachically and hashkafically!
@@tammyleigh21 the groom never gets a rind related to the ceremony. Most Orthodox men do not where a ring though many may choose to wear one to work, etc if the need arises to let it be known they are married.
What a stunning bride! You look so happy and glowy in those pictures :) Also, it's always so interesting to hear you speak some yiddish words as they are so similiar to German, like ,,badeken'' which is so similiar to the German Word ,,bedecken'' which means to cover something. I've also heard you say something along the lines of ,,shlepping'' in another video, which is basically the same as ,,schleppen''. You should visit Austria someday and see how many German words you understand just by hearing them :)
@@jaroffireflies if you had grown up in New York City like I did, you would have learned and used many of those words. Almost everyone over a certain age has integrated them into their vocabulary. 😊
I also found it super hilarious that sefardi weddings have something called a "bedecken". You can be certain that is not what it was called in Morocco.
What a BEAUTIFUL caftan!!! Thank you for sharing about your wonderful Sephardic wedding experience. You & Mr.Firefly were beaming and looked SO happy. I love hearing about different cultural customs within Judaism.🌺

Beautiful wedding! I love that you explain the differences in customs! Love Bella at the end. "Just announcing the mail man and protecting the family momma!" --Bella
What a happy and handsome couple! I have been to a couple Jewish weddings but they were for couples of different faiths - in fact, my son's best friend from high school, who is Jewish, married a girl who was born in China, so while their wedding was more of what I would call a "regular" ceremony held outdoors, their reception was a wonderful mix of Jewish and Chinese traditions. It was probably one of the most fun receptions I've ever attended. It sounds like your day was one to remember as well - and I am SO impressed with your mother-in-law! Thank you for sharing.
@@jaroffireflies It was. He wore a tux and she wore a white bridal gown for the marriage ceremony, then changed for the reception. The bride wore a stunning long red skirt and a red jacket embroidered in gold that had been made in China and the groom wore a long tunic in green/gold with gold embroidery that I think was also made in China. During the reception, they had a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and they did the Jewish dance where the couple is lifted up on chairs. It was quite a party!
I used to be "addicted" to random trash on UA-cam. Now all I want to do is learn more about other people's faiths and lives and it's helping me to personally find a new relationship with my faith and seeing that life is not all about what you don't have!
I've had my henna done many times in Texas, but I live close to Irving. :) So it's easy to find. What I don't have is a marriage mindset after my divorce and a succession of attacks on my life that made me learn six different world metaphysicsics on extreme veganism.
You looked lovely and your dress turned out fabulous. I to an a convert but of Ashkenazi heritage from Texas. Your video was great so Thank you for sharing

You have such a pretty complexion. Thanks for sharing your wedding story.
So I am really a blonde but I dyed my hair brown starting in my 20s :)
I love hearing all this. I’ve always wanted to be part of this kind of culture. Very meaningful. And hello from a fellow Texan introvert.
Wow! Im so glad i found your channel. Im new to the homeschooling community and also sephardic jewish. Thanks for sharing such beautiful videos...I've seen 2 more recent ones and im hooked. Can't wait to see more. Have a beautiful day Chana ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! And welcome! I’m so happy you’re here ❤️❤️❤️
I find it stunningly beautiful that the first time you touched your bridegroom was when he welcomed you to the wedding hoopa. The height of romance.
It also exemplifies the high esteem that you had for one another before entering into the marriage. You must have felt quite cherished.
May you always feel so cherished!
Thank you so much for your kind words :)
Super interesting to learn about wedding in different culture. You looked absolutely stunning in your wedding photos. Both of you and your husband looked so beautiful. I love the ways you story tell. So enjoyable!
Thank you so much Joanna!
You both looked soooo happy. We can truly see it was meant to be
Aw thank you 💜
What beautiful photos...you both looked amazing! 🥰🥰 Your mother-in-law did an outstanding job with your wedding dress, and the kaftan was stunning!
Thank you so much!!
Beautiful wedding, beautiful bride and an amazing family!
Thank you Corinn!
Your wedding just fell into place. Obviosly it was meant to be. Your dress was beautiful. ❤
Thank you!! 😊
Mazel tov 🎉 And welcome to the tribe!!!
Both my and my husband's families are really amazing :) We are very lucky
Thank you for inviting me into this private part of your life. I feel like I have a new friend. With all my heart I wish you and your beautiful family the very best.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for sharing your story!
I just watched this a second time. Beautiful couple and beautiful traditions!❤
Thank you!
Are ALL Orthodox Jewish women so beautiful? I mean, your beauty comes through your words, actions, the way you present everything.
The both of you looked very clean on your wedding day! Your outfits were very traditional and acceptable with in the religion. It was very nice to see how you both started out.
So glad you enjoyed this :)
I recently stumbled upon your videos and they are wonderful! As a non Jewish woman, I love learning about all of the topics you cover.
Hi Christine and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here!!!
I love learning about every religion and you are my favorite source to learn about orthodox Jewish traditions.
Wow what a story! Thank you so much for sharing and thank you for your kind words :)
Hey darling,
Im in tears right now. cant put into words how i envy you for your journey.
Kinda speechless, so ill end up saying you inpired me a lot, you're so sweet and special
I was one of the special people that was there. It was amazing and I loved every minute. You are such a blessing to me and Kay! Love seeing all your videos.
Michelle! 💜💜💜 So much love to you!
Congratulations Chana you got a really beautiful wedding but now you have built a precious and blessed family. Thanks for all that you shares with us.I love when you shares any details because I can imagine the whole story .Regards from Panamá, Shabbat Shalom 🤗
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate you!
That’s so fun! Thanks so much for sharing about your wedding 💜
So beautiful! I loved that! I'm Mormon/LDS and we usually have to do alot of altering, etc, for our wedding dresses to be modest as well. I just loved this video! Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching! I’ve seen some morman wedding dresses, y’all also wear modest dresses for your weddings :) very cool!
Lol
You were radiant on your wedding day. The dress was beautiful
Thank you Amy 😊
You made such a beautiful Bride, the joy on your Husband's face is just wonderful.😊🏴
This was fascinating. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was surprised that the bride doesn't give a ring to the groom! Does the groom ever have a ring? Xxxx
Ashkenazi here
@@jaroffireflies it really depends on the chassidus but in general most women wear a wig at the chuppah to already have had their hair covered throughout the wedding (though I chose to put on a white tichel after the yichud room!) And yeah the yichud room thing is very interesting halachically and hashkafically!
@@tammyleigh21 the groom never gets a rind related to the ceremony. Most Orthodox men do not where a ring though many may choose to wear one to work, etc if the need arises to let it be known they are married.
P.S. Chana, the caftan was gorgeous, as was your dress. Kudos to your amazing MIL.
Rosemarie 💖
Thank you :)
Oh yes it’s so similar! I don’t speak Yiddish, I just know a handful (or more) or Yiddish words that I hear people use all the time :)
@@jaroffireflies if you had grown up in New York City like I did, you would have learned and used many of those words. Almost everyone over a certain age has integrated them into their vocabulary. 😊
Yiddish is primarily a Germanic language.
Thank you so much!
your mother in law did amazing job on the dress..your wedding look very nice.
Your wedding was so beautiful. You were both looking so joyous! Thank goodness for your in laws. Such an incredible day!
You looked amazing! I wish more girls would do their own makeup, it was stressful over here when my daughters had someone over to do it. Your parents & inlaws are lovely - MIL sooo talented!! Belated Mazel Tov!
Thank you!
You all look so happy at your wedding. I can clearly see the love between you two. I hope you have many more happy years together.

Beautiful wedding! I love that you explain the differences in customs! Love Bella at the end. "Just announcing the mail man and protecting the family momma!" --Bella
LOL That Bella barks at everything :) She keeps us on our toes!
Beautiful pictures! 😍 Thank you for sharing your story and your wedding pictures. Blessings
I bet that was fun to see a mixture of cultures!
WOW! She did such a fabulous job on your kaftan. This was so fun!
How lovely! I just love the story of your mother in law!
She’s amazing right?!
@@jaroffireflies You are definately blessed to have her.
Indeed
I used to be "addicted" to random trash on UA-cam. Now all I want to do is learn more about other people's faiths and lives and it's helping me to personally find a new relationship with my faith and seeing that life is not all about what you don't have!
This was so fun to watch! I think this is the first time I’ve seen your husband’s face in a video. You looked so beautiful and happy!
Glad you liked it!! My husband has been in a couple other videos, but just briefly :)
Thank you so much for sharing such a special day in your family's life. It was absolutely beautiful. Yes, your MIL is an amazing seamstress and you can tell it was all done with love. Have a blessed day!
Thank you so much! Yes, my MIL is phenomenal!
Beautiful wedding! I have learnt to love my fiancé’s big family too, took me a few years to get used to but it’s truly a blessing. So different from my own culture, our families are both Portuguese Catholics but still interesting to learn about! Take care 💕
Thank you! Your extended family sounds fun too :) I wish mine lived closer
You were glowing on your wedding day! You looked gorgeous! 💗 thanks for sharing your wedding story with us! I love learning about different cultures and customs 🥰
Thank you for your kind words! I’m so glad that you enjoyed and learned from it ❤️❤️
I ended up here following the August 2023 Q & A and the story of how you met your husband. This is exciting!!😃
Hope you enjoyed it! Thank you for being here!
@@jaroffireflies Yes, I sure did. Thank you for sharing. I am not Jewish but really enjoy your channel. Have a great week. 💙
@@martinelanglois3158 hope you have a great week too!
The way he's looking at you while doing the ring! *swoon*.
Also your makeup looks *amazing*, I can't believe you did it yourself. So beautiful!
