I just came here to say thanks for your detailed review. This is one of the reasons I bought XMAX 300 2019 just over a month ago. Really nice machine. It could have had a few things designed better, but overall it's a great all-round bike. Excellent for the city and good enough for longer trips out of the city. They could have added USB next to the 12V connector in the glove compartment for example. And those wind deflectors for your hands are no good really. I have ridden mine in temperature around 0°C and that was not fun even though I had winter gloves with goretex. The main issue I had with it were the headlights. In the factory they set them way too low so the beam was on the road maybe 20m ahead of me maximum. Go any faster than 50 on a dark road out of town and you can get in trouble. Adjusting it was not mentioned in the manual and is super inconvenient without some tool designed for it or partial disassembly of the front of the motorcycle. Other than that I am pretty happy with it. It also incredibly efficient. In town (a lot of steep hills in my area) I get consumption around 3.6-3.8L/100km. Out of town if I am riding calm (no highway around here) I can get it down to 2.3L/100km (speed around 70km/h).
Hi did your get your head lights adjusted else i know how...mine was way to high and everybody flash their lights at me haha...but I love that X max 300..great ride to me and i got a bad back and discusprolaps..I can only recommend buying it if looking for a maxi scooter
Excellent review. I have this scooter for a year now and I agree with every point you made about performance. It's practical scooter for every day use. A lot of storage space (2 full face helmets and +), low fuel consumption... 3 l/100km is my average. You can reach 350 - 400 km with one fuel tank (13 l). Thanks for the review.
Hello to one of the best European motorcycle chanel! I'm from Romania. Today I had the pleasure to have a ride test with the new, 2019 model of XMAX 300. I must tell you that I used for the last 7 years a Honda CBF500A (and when i was younger, I had a Yamaha Why). At the end of 2018, I started to have in mind some changes regarding my every day commuter. This changes was foccused on a new Yamaha Xmax 300 scooter, but until this days, I had no good weather to check it. After riding today this bike, I have to tell you that I can confirm this chanel oppinion: the Xmax 300 is gorgeous! I am 1.83 m, 102 kg. I rideed it with 150 km/h on the highway-it's maximum speed that it could reach. It's behavior is super and save, even on this limits. In the city is perfect, very handling and confortable. I wanted to check it also on bridges to test his agility and motor power behavior. It doesn't disappointed me at all. I accelerated also at the middle of a bridge and it has just react like a 600 cc motorbike. After my 2 hours of crazy driveing 50% on highway and rest in the city, the fuel consumption was just 4.1 l/100 km (the same like this chanel host). I'm recomanding the Xmax 300 also for highways! It's a perfect commuter and it brings a lot of fun to the rider! I salut you and keep doing good movie materials. Drive save guys! Ps: if you need something more agile and fun, choose this instead of Forza300
I use an X-Max 400 for shopping, in winter and when I have business to do in the city and sometimes for short spins in my neck of the woods. It‘s fun to ride, has some storage but for trips, faster rides and having fun, no question I prefer the Tracer.
The windscreen is adjustable between two positions, low and high. It’s a pain to change and you need tools. Yamaha have three screens, small sports, medium default, and high touring. I know it’s not ideal for touring but I have toured loads on mine and it’s been very good!
Lovely litte bike, very fun, reliable, practical and fuel efficient. I wish it had 16/15 sized wheels rather than 15/14 but other than that it's nearly perfect.
Hi Carger, what should you choose: x max 300, x max 400 or honda integra 700? Just for some city runs with my bags en weekend touring.. greetings from The Netherlands! Ps i love Sintra!!!
You are my favourite bike reviewer Cager and because of your Honda Fortza 125cc review, I bought one two years ago. I'd like to upgrade now to a scooter with a bigger engine capacity. I'm looking at either this Yamaha or the new 2018 Honda Fortza 300cc Scooter. I look forward to your review on the new Fortza.
I've driven them both recently on a test ride. The X-Max 300 was more fun to ride than the Forza. A bit more power.. but that could've been due to the Akrapovic exhaust and the sporty windscreen they put on the X-Max. Although I'm a Honda fan for years I'm going to get myself an X-Max 300.
Hi cager ! I saw your video at the morning. Pictures of the ambulance in which you landed. When did this happen? I made the same experience after an accident with an 2stroke kawa. 40 years ago. Please come very soon. You are the best and I wish the best for you !!!
Increase rear shock preload to help with the center stand scraping. Very few scooters to choose from in US market, this is probably the best one for the price other than the more expensive Vespa 300 GTS. I may buy one.
Best honest review I’ve ever seen you didn’t seem to know where most things were on the scooter 🛵 so you definitely hadn’t been couched into say things the about the bike
I got one of these a year ago with the "comfort seat" which changed the whole seating position of the bike then within a week i crashed and broke both arms. not joking. great bike though, got it repaired and ride it every day in south korea now.
You are riding a New Bike, that is Not broken in yet. After a 1000-2000 miles the bike should be broken in, engine and brakes both will function better after break in is complete.
The twin r3ar shocks is a function of the engine being directly linked to the swing arm. Theres no room for a single damper and spring in tne traditional layout
i keep watching your videos on the Xmax and Smax, i can't decide which one to get for myself, how well does the xmax ride in the city? what about the smax on the open road?
I bought the XMax 300 two weeks ago. I am VERY happy with it. Top speed is 89 mph. I should have gotten it earlier! I am very impressed with the "quickness" it has. It is lite and very responsive!
I know you dont like retro bikes much, but please try Kawasaki Z900RS when possible. I value your opinion a lot. Also as a scooter guy for commute great to see you did this review!
would you consider riding a maxi-scooter to the Netherlands? I'm going to get a burgman 400 soon and I'm planning to ride it between Denmark and England. my budget won't stretch to the 650, which I know would be perfect. Muito obrigado, Pa 👍
I’ve fallen in love with this scooter but I can’t decide which is best the 300 or the 400, what are your thoughts? Likewise have you tried the kymco xciting 400 and what you think I’d that scooter?
The 400 is a lot heavier but only has 5hp more. So there probably is very little difference in acceleration but at slow speeds it is harder to handle. On top it consumes about a litre more fuel than the 300
Olá Cager! Obrigado pelos excelentes testes. Experimentei a XMax 300 e confirmo que é super divertida. Porém, a transmissão das scooters aborrece-me. Obrigado!
So, Kymco Downtown 350 costs 1300€ less and Piaggio Beverly 350 costs 1100€ and both of them are faster than the Yamaha X-Max 300. And you can't say that the materials Kymco and Piaggio used on these scooters are not premium, they are very well built.

Martin Raven Hi Martin, what's the top speed?
Some say it will go 160. My top speed was around 150 km/h.

What is a confortable highway speed? Can it go 70mph cruising? And what kind of gas mi league at the cruising speed?
It easily does 70 mph cruising ,as my 250 cc XMax does .Gas milage is around 80 mpg.

Your handle bars wobbling at high speed is probably because you flat spotted your front wheel, been riding Xmax 300 for year and a half, no wobble.🛵
