As a motorcyclist for over 50 years I bought my first scooter (xmax300) in Jan 2020. It's now my go to two wheeler even though I have 3 other bikes in the garage. I wish I had overcome my prejudices about scooters a decade back, it's just so comfy and relaxing to ride and economical too. If i only have one bike in the garage it will be a scooter.

yeah its funny how one knocks scooter until one gets on and rides. once i thought i'd never be caught on one...lol
but the xmax with roughly 300cc runs well and pulls the hills with ease.
love that twist and go throttle too.
but like the saying...better late than never and its been worth the trouble too

I have owned both the Yamahas and the Forza 350. In terms of appearance, I prefer the Yamaha. The Yamaha is less agile and feels heavier. But for practicality, more comfort and luxury, I choose the Honda. The Honda's engine is also a bit more powerful. The automatically adjustable windshield is really useful. But the most frightening thing for me is the seating position. It is much more pleasant on the Honda. The saddle is less wide and the height is lower than that of the Yamaha. I also have more room to stretch my legs. for the show take the Yamaha, for comfort, luxury and long rides the Honda.

I appreciate your plain talking. Many reviewers seem to have a conflict of interest that they do not declare up front and present a review that will please their masters. You offer a rare insight as you buy and sell your own bikes and do not care what anyone thinks. Keep up the great work👍

glad you enjoyed it and your correct-how could one take notice of some-one who is sponsored on the item they are reviewing.
thats why i dont ask for coffee money-patreons or any other sponge tactic to try and get money of a viewers.
this crap you hear them say the money helps create the content-the only thing it creates is more money for them to spend...lol
i watch a few and they mention donations to help keep channel running -then they show several new bikes.
now i dont blame the creator totally - i blame the idiots and i repeat idiots who give them the money.
these are probably the same ones who would walk past some old guy laying in the gutter asking for coffee money but feel good giving it to greedy sponging youtube creators.
ive been asked a few times if i take patreon or donation to keep content going but quick answer is-i wouldn't lower myself to gutter level like the others
apart from that ...all is good!

Can't beat the scooter warro, great bikes so so practical. I have few bikes in the garage I always go for the scooter 1st and himalayan 2nd. Blessing no chain to oil just check the belt in 10,000 miles. Keep up the good work matey. Hope you not struggling with the heavy rain and floods in your area.

i actually enjoy riding the scooter 2nd time around. untill you get on one and ride -they are much better than one would expect plus all that extra storage under the seat too.
im not sure how long it is for a belt change. i think the tappets are to be checked at 12,000 so i suppose a new belt too.
rain is about and a bit across some of the roads but nothing like victoria.
next clip up will be xmax300 on the coffee/and ride run

Really appreciate the honest feedback about the different scooters you have owned and reviewed , saying what you think has been helpful in my decision making - I’ve had my xmax for a short time but so far am really happy with it.
Can you give some more comments about why you changed the rear shocks, what performance did it effect and what has been the result of the change (why is it different to the original).
    Thanks again.

where i live there are heaps of bumpy hilly roads and the forza 350 was shocking and my tests in my history proved just that but very few viewers ever them. just couldn't get the views/looks.
xmax 300 was fairly good in the front end but banged up a bit over the rear. so second time around i ordered those vss rear shocks.
they work better and i suppose one could buy better but they are good enough for me as i don't rely on the scooter as main ride as i have 4 other new bikes.
thats why i can give what i think is good honest advise on bikes where other cant or won't!
now if your on good roads and you feel the ride is fine...don't waste your money and ride on. you don't need them....stay stock!
i was on good roads today but then i went dirt track riding in the local forrest the vss shocks handled it well.
i was actually doing my next ride and cook clip so i took the xmax stright into the dirt forrest tracks.
wheel size is not too crash hot in there and i notice the drawback immediately but then again who buys a xmax to ride in the forrest when he already has a good dirt bike...lol
but i wanted to find out -so in it went! don't buy one to ride dirt its far better on sealed stuff!

well i did go off-road but i don't think i would recommend it....lol front wheel is a bit small and in one section of the dirt i got caught up in a wheel rut.
a much bigger front wheel like on the klx150 i just bought with 21" front would have handled it with very little effort.
the xmax with the 15" front and wheelbarrow tyres not so.
apart from that its a good fun scoot to ride-nice power and i really like it -so all is good on that side.
      all the best!

Apart from the charm of old Vespas and Postie bikes Id never thought Id get a scooter until recently. I was looking at this particular scooter but ended up with a low km second hand Aprilia 300cc scooter for half the price. Its very nice to ride. Im 6ft 100kg and it feels like a regular bike. Love your review and the previous scooter review. I bought a Honda ADV350. It was between that and the Xmax. I have put 10000kms on it and have few complaints. Don’t like the sound much and the suspension unloaded is on the harsh side. Fuel consumption is not as good as I had hoped for.
The big pluses are the handling and stability. It keeps up with traffic even on 130kmh limit French motorways.

Great review Warro. Not sure if you know this but even though it’s not available to us here in Oz, there is actually a Xmax 400 model which is a proper 400cc. With that engine, it would definitely be a Forza killer and perhaps a no-brainer when it comes to deciding between the 2 scoots.

must admit thats pretty true indeed. only a dead set ...idiot...lol would want to spend several hours making a you tube clip for say if one gets lucky a return or $3 to $5
i am truly living the dream!
if my mum was still alive i am sure she would be extremely proud of me
today on the scooter ride/cook i pulled up in the forrest to boil the coffee.
prior to leaving the house the wife gave me a vanilla slice and its in the upcoming clip. i like vanilla slices.
so i dont go out much so asked her the cost. she said $4.50
on my way out to do the clip all i was thinking. my xmax 300 clip must be good!
i will require 1500 views just to break even and pay for the vanilla slice. plus the coffee on credit.
not many would know that...but i do!
pressure is on the next clip to hopefully perform.
i also made one mistake in the scrub today.
i should have cut the vanilla slice in half and split my losses at 750 views and save the other half for a different clip.
but the slice was that good i...to be totally honest i just ate the fu//en lot on the spot...lol
that mistake alone cost me 750 subs. so hard to believe but oh so true.
so the lesson i learnt today......don't go into the local forrest or you'll get a big surprise!

Warro, thanks to your help and always answering any questions I purchased the new Xmax 300 with the digital display over the Forza 350 (like you) today. The thing that made me go for the Yamaha was the front suspension which you showed us viewers - the idea of the more robust motorcycle suspension is where I think the confidence and fun is at. The other main reason was the solid screen that doesn’t rattle and the smoothness on start up. I personally prefer the Honda brand, but Yamaha is a close second. It ended up being a 2 week wait for the dark petrol colour. The ice fluo was is stock. I chose to wait. To be honest I actually prefer the Honda dash over the Yamaha digital dash - but not much in it. Thank you again and I look forward to the much awaited review on “our” 2023 model.

    • @ridewithwarro
      @ridewithwarro  Рік тому +1

yeah the power screen on the forza is more just a gimmick and even on high is no better than the xmax on high. both could do with a deflector there plus its a sloppy fit on the forza too.
once you ride the bike with digital dash im sure you'll like it...very easy to read.
i would have gone dark petrol myself but that one wasnt due here i think till end of april.
if you had gone honda you'd be looking immediately for rear shocks to compensate the thrashing you back takes on rough sealed roads. the xmax is far better there.
if it wasnt id bought another honda.
some-one asked me why i dont buy the forza 350 adv. its not here at the moment but i did buy the adv150 and that was the worst riding bit of junk id been on in 64 new bikes.
didnt bother even doing a review. rode it roughly 100 klm and after that refused to risde it till i cashed it.
pity too it was a very good looking scooter in all areas except very poor suspension just like its nephew the forza 350

    • @florme6494
      @florme6494 Рік тому

@@ridewithwarro yeah I looked at both the forza adv 350 and adv 150. Shame here in Australia we don’t get those options. Well, according to the Honda website the adv150 is no longer available. The only down side with both was wind deflection. I generally like to ride scooters more in winter, and motorcycles in summer.
I’m getting my Xmax from just north of Sydney and the consignment said end of March. Who knows, that may well blow out. Certain dealerships I believe do get allocations which is what I assume happened in this case. I agree that the digital dash will more likely be easier to read, I just like the analog look of the forza speedometer and rev counter. Personal thing and I completely understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
One thing I would love to hear your opinion on that not many speak about, is that the forza’s windscreen has no wind release channels (due to it being automatic) making the wind push you in the back doing high speeds on motorways. I assumed the xmax won’t do that. Have you found that the case?

    • @ridewithwarro
      @ridewithwarro  Рік тому

@@florme6494 i didnt notice that issue on the screen of the forza. all i noticed was it had very good power and top brakes after that the xmax beat it up badly.
i have no real loyality to bikes. i buy on averge 6 new bikes per year. so i just tell it as i see it and the xmax is the best scooter for the money.
still have not got my gps working but lets put that down to an age related rider who hasn't worked it out...lol
when i did the test between both bikes i thought if i bought a set of performance rollers i could probably equal the forza in pickup.
i got the rollers but never installed and never did it on the second bike so maybe its 3rd time lucky here.
in my brake tests i said honda was better but i really tested them hard...lol
not shown in test but both bikes disc got that hot they smelt bad and i had to wait and ride slow to let them cool down. it was a pretty savage test indeed but i bought them to test not love...lol. ...so there not brembos...lol

    • @ridewithwarro
      @ridewithwarro  Рік тому +2

lets make it more interesting. a classic 500 classic 350 reborn and xmax 300 which i now have upgraded to the 2023 model with digital dash and gpd function.
the xmax 300 is easily the best ride. better power too than all 3 and better storage.
a 500 is virtually flat and vibrating badle at 130 kph. the xmax will run up to and cruise that quite easily. 350 reborn is vibibg at the 120 kph mark and virtually flat.
so we will get rid of the 500. the other two are far better.
the xmax is the best ride but a more boring ride and does everything it should but doesn't give you tat feel good ride experience.
      so if i had one choice of all 3 i think first choice 350reborn 2nd xmax300 3rd classic 500 which i would off-load immediately and buy a 350 reborn.

easy fix i thought so next day got on the phone and rang 9 dealers i think. finally found a new xmax in melboune so i had something to put them on..lol rest is history.

Hi, I did 15000 km on my Forza and i am up to 1000 km on my xmax and i think i prefer the Forza for various reasons but need to do a few long journeys on the Yamaha before i make my mind up, in any case i will keep it for a year then probably get an ADV 350 which should have the good points of both bikes!

    • @ridewithwarro

always good to have choices i say. i had the adv150 and my thoughts -it would be the worst bike i have ever ridden suspension wise in 56 new bikes in 10 years. a real heap of crap which unfortunately looks nice but thats about it.
in fact it was that bad i couldn't bare the thought of making a clip on it...lol plus i asctually refused to ride it...period...lol
back to the maxi scooters. i actually owned the forza 350 and xmax 300 both 2021 plated in my yard and rode them back to back over 10 tests.
that always beats owing one and buying another to compare past rides.the mind plays games.
my thoughts -nothing beats getting off one brand new bike and stepping straight on to another brand new bike especially if you own both at the same time and one immediately know which is the better bike/scooter.
like i said in my tests -honda power and brakes-yamaha suspension in the front end and far better ride.
i had issues lately when i did the honda cb500x tests. i had new 018/019/021 and 022
i actually had guys telling me how there 018 was the better bike and i was totally wrong.......
      yeah sure,,,lol in their dreams!
most of all don't believe what youtube testers riders say. most are full of crap-chasing views and subs and probably couldn't lie straight in bed...lol
the bigger the channels the less they like to offend or speak the truth!
well thats what i think but i struggle to get 2000 views per clip but at least i call it how i see it.
best of all very few people buy some bike and will admit to any one its a lemon.
i honestly don't care. bikes are just bikes to me. i like them but don't love them like when i was into quality cars. and i always tell it how i see it.....why?
simple answer! if i'm not happy with the crap i buy i just sell it and re-group and buy another.
to sum up for me to say the xmax 300 is the better bike has incurred a loss of $7000 selling both previous scooter and re grouping and buying again.
no big deal as i've done far worse but the xmax 300 i think is still the pick of them
if i find a better one- my guess is you will see it here but so far ........ZERO!
to sum up the tmax 560 would be far better regardless but $20k for a newy or $15k for a used its something i'd have to think about more seriously.
either way all the best and enjoy the new toy...great scoot!

if i was heading in that direction i wouldn't take any notice of youtube test riders and actually try and ride one myself.
the adv150 i had had showa suspension. some say its the best around!
i find those test riders mis-handle the truth so much plus dont offend just grab views .......most are in it just for the money anyway
plus a good channel of high views at $3 to $5 per 1000 views ...big money involved if they toss them out.
in fact i'd say i will have a good chance to make a few bucks on this clip.
      if i score 2000 views...bingo its $6 for me
gotta say i am living the dream!

I have been riding a Yamaha Aerox 155 on a daily basis for two years in northern Thailand. It's blighted by poor suspension but at the lights, it sets off so well. However, I've decided I can't get on with the feet-forward [even slightly] stance of the scooter. It's okay for just nipping to 7-Eleven and doing a lap of the rice fields in our village, but no further. I'm going to get a Suzuki VanVan 200 for the other local work, saving my bigger bike for longer jaunts.

I bought one new in March 2021, best investment I made, use it mainly to commute to work, ride 50% hwy and 50% local city 60 km everyday. Get between 380 to 410km from 10 litres depending on how I ride it. I bet I could get 450 if I ride it easy. All those that I know give me a hard time because it's a scooter, little do they know, yes agree the rear shocks and front brakes aren't great. But I don't think it needs anything else, it's not a supersport. Would you be kind and share what rear shocks you have and how much. In my case, I had a SH300 and, although it was a very good scooter, I found it boring. I ended up selling it to buy the Triumph Scrambler 900. The sensations of a motorcycle that you carry between your legs, with its manual gearbox, are much more pleasant when you use the motorcycle for leisure. Another thing would be to use it as a "tool" to move out of obligation. Greetings from Spain!

I've rode a few scooters over the years, but never owned one. I've been riding motorcycles since 1964 and have owned several, but never a scooter. Currently we ride a HD Tri-Glide due to my wife's health condition. She has battled cancer eight times, had 12 surgeries , maxed out on chemo, radiation and cyber knife treatments. She is currently on immunotherapy treatments and will be every 28 days for the rest of her life. The radiation she had in 2011 ruined the blood flow to her hips and she had to have a total hip replacement, that didn't go well. Two months later she had brain surgery to remove some cancer that was causing seizures which left her like a stroke victim. That's why we went to a trike. We thought if she had a seizure on a two wheeled motorcycyle it might cause an accident injuring both of us and possibly others. On a trike we felt like I should be able to pull over and tend to her needs.
Well, since she is no longer having seizures I want to get back to two wheels. I am old (70) and don't care anymore what others think. She has to have a smooth ride and the Tri-Glide rides like a dump truck. I installed new progressive shocks on the rear and run 20psi in the rear tires. That helped a little, but it still rides like a dump truck. The Tri-Glide is so hard to steer that it flares my arthiritis up in my hands so bad that I can't sleep at night for all the pain. So it must be time to look at scooters.
I was looking at a Kymco X-Road 300i but the reviews say that at speeds 60mph and about they have a lot of vibration. Then I looked at the Suzuki Burgman 400 which has a lower seat height that would help my wife to get on the scooter and help me too since I am short and only have a 29" inseam. But the Burgman has been around for a long long time and geting a little tired looking.
So now I'm looking at the Yamaha Xmax 300. Every revieiw I see talks good about the Xmax. My only problem would be the taller seat height. If my wife can get on one without knocking it over I might buy one. She has to get on before I do since she is crippled and walks with the aid of a walker.
I like your video on the Yamaha Xmax 300. It is a very good video for anyone considering on buying a Xmax 300. I thank you for a job well done. Ride safely and enjoy every journey.
