  • Most Auto shops in San Jose prefer to replace parts and panels.
However, some customers prefer to keep the original parts and paint.
Today, watch me save this panel by removing the Dent using the PDR method.

Easiest decision I'll make today - Subscribed. This is the 4th or 5th video I've watched in a row.
Another example of a master of his craft sharing knowledge on UA-cam. Thanks!
I have various dents in my vehicles that I've lived with for years, stuff like this gives me the motivation to try it myself. Worst case, my '98 pickup still has a dent.

First time to your channel. This video popped up in my suggestions and I clicked to watch. Once I did I was hooked on your content so I had to sub. I'm retired now due to medical reasons but back in the day I did a ton off collision repair. I gotta say "You're an Artist". The way you finesse the metal back into shape. A lot of folks can't read the dent and that's key to fixing it. Love the content on your channel.

I don't do PDR, but I used to do a lot of rust repair. Back in my day, that panel would have been beaten out, filled and painted for under $1000. I can't do what you do, but I could still do an acceptable repair with a hammer dolly and puller for a lot less than a panel replacement.
I have pieces of chain embedded in the floor of my shop. I would weld tabs to the dent then attach a clamp and pull with a come along, pull back ram or a floor jack anchored to my floor chains. It was simple and cheap to do and yes it was back in the 90s.
That said show me your magic.

Another amazing job. If you were closer I'd have you repair the door on my X5, but it's a drive from MN. -- I just need to get motivated to strip my door inside to get it done!

Great video! I had a similar dent just above the rear bumper. I tried PDR but it failed, however I was using Amazon home style pdr equipment and it resulted in more damage than fixing anything. Finally I paid a body shop to do it right and it did come out perfect! I guess that is why they get the big bucks.

Yup. While this kind of work can be done by a professional, with years of experience. Tackling it by yourself without that experience can make things go wrong very quickly. There’s a reason you pay others to do things you don’t know how to do 🤷🏻‍♂️

They practice a lot on old metal panels before they start working on real cars. That's why they can do a better job than you and me.

@@DentDiscountPDRBodyShop I heard somebody once mention that doing so sends vibrations through the metal which softens it up or makes it more pliable. Do you know anything about that or have you heard that?

*edit* touch up paint helps but is nothing like the original material coating.
