  • Detailing and preventative maintenance to your exterior is key to keeping your Tacomas paint and exterior lasting past a normal useful life of a vehicle. In this video I go over my routine to keeping it looking like the day it came off the lot.

I would NOT use a silicone squeegee if you don't want fine scratches on your truck. The less you can touch the vehicle to dry the better. I have black Shelby and everything can cause swirl marks if you don't know what your doing, just my experience and option. Also black is worst colour for showing everything! I'm glad my Tacoma is silver!

Perhaps one of the nicest black tacos I've seen!
When I picked up my 23 taco, I ended up going with a ceramic coating and PPF on the front fenders, hood, and grille. Its made cleaning a lot easier and keeps the truck cleaner longer between washes. Down side is this costs a good amount of money.
Looking forward to seeing how you go about maintaining the undercarriage of your truck.

Looks great! Personally I wouldn't paint correct too often, maybe every 4 years. Correcting the paint removes clear coat each time, depending on how much cutting you're doing with the compound and pad combination. Every paint measurement I've done showed me that tacomas have 3-5 mils total thickness. Not sure how much of that is clearcoat

I agree… I’m pretty much done compounding at this point… the paint/clearcoat on these trucks is so thin that it’s borderline ridiculous.. and I’ve had to be very cautious when compounding and polishing.. at this point, doing more could be a result of more harm than good.. At some point many years from now, I’ll probably just get the whole entire truck repainted with a much thicker clearcoat.. but that will not be for a very long time.

Truck looks amazing, especially with the long bed. I own a 2015 white 4 door long bed TRD SPORT upgraded to TRD wheels and skip plate.

@@westcoasttaco our trucks are almost the same for mods but you'll win when you put the Mag SC on yours. I have one but my boat needs a new engine and they cost the same. So that's next years mod for my truck.

Nice looking Taco!! Black is beautiful and almost got the Nightshade but opted for a red 23 Limited (to get all options) instead having had a black truck prior and yea it takes a LOT of weekly maintenace-it shows how much you care for yours!! I would also not use a squeegee; agree that its better to use a leaf blower for most of the water then towel dry-I use a Liquid8r and have been able to dry (after hitting with the blower) my Taco, wifes HLander and daughters Rav in one use. Not pimping it, just honest advice. Also recommend cerakote for hard plastics-will last for months; a little pricier but well worth it. Will check out more of your vids!

Wow another great video! Wanted to ask another question if you dont mind. What additional cleaning methods would you do if lets say you didnt have a buffer wheel/was worried about damaging the vehicle? Thanks and no rush to anwser! Loved this video tho.

You can always do it by hand but it will take a lot longer and you probably won’t achieve the same results at least for the polish or compound… the wax should provide the same results with just doing it by hand. If you are buying a used Tacoma I would personally recommend getting the paint “corrected” by an auto detailer and then having as much PPF put on the truck and then have the rest of it ceramic coated. That way you’re providing the max preventative protection to the paint.

Dilute 2oz your fav smell laundry soap with water into 20 oz spray bottle use as interior cleaner. Ozium spray just sprits it when you get out of the car. Carbon black for dudes. Trust my 2018 still has new car smell today in 2024 Wash mits are cheap or costco microfiber towels. Strip wash with tide laundry soap 3oz in a bucket of hot water. Rinse wash each panel with new towel. Never tranfers dirt.
Rinse thoroughly. Light pressure hand dry with microfiber or bathroom towels lets be real.
Fold microfibre inro 1/4 and use nu finish liquid wax. Buff. Then hit it with turtle wax ice seal n shine. And use meguairs or turtle wax soap for standard washing. Member kids its a truck. Dirt is natural sunblock and every time you clean it you scratch it. I only wash my tacoma 5-6 times a year. It looks new
