I know so little about this that it makes every little detail interesting. Thanks for going through that.

Thanks for watching Don. That's how I am. I'll watch stuff I know I'll never do just because I find the process interesting.

very good. being at camp ground a lot and working on RV's I see lots of mistakes you pointed out. locking keys in with engine running is common. a lot of trucks /SUV have auto locks . they not supposed to lock until you go into drive . but with miles on and corrosion The door lock can lock when just closing the door. and all doors can lock. In out car I took out a fuse to defeat this feature. After girlfriend locked keys in at store loading trunk. And their was a switch inside rear door that prevents people in back seat from getting out. we never flip leaver but bumpy roads do. All ways a good idea to test breaks and set them right away. some are electric and connect threw harness wiring. some times al them pins do not connect. I keep a big tube of dielectric grease . Being a electrician I always have lots on hand. Code on aluminum wiring and more . The extra step I do is check lights before pulling out. part of safety first. no Break lights is vey bad or running lights in low light .fog or night. 73's

I locked my keys in my truck at lot while just doing light work on my farm... quickly learned to always keep the window down... it didn't help that the dog would jump on the electric lock button all the time either...

I lie surge brakes over electric breaks. Most of my towing has been boats. Good video! 73

I don't know that I've ever towed a boat... clearly not often enough to remember.

I don't like surge brakes. If you are in a curve they may not brake at all, or there will be a delay and it will push the rear of the tow vehicle sideways. On electric (or air) brakes If the trailer gets a little squirrely you can often just give a little trailer brake to straighten it out.

In addition to plugging in and checking the trailer/towed vehicle lights, I also have to make sure my crank up TV antenna is cranked down.

I'm not a big TV person. I think I've only put it up 3 times - once to connect it t my ham radio and see how well it tuned on 6m, once to verify that it went up and down and then we got stuck for a night with no cell coverage and no clear view of the sky for starlink and wanted to play. I could live without it and the noise it makes in the wind.

HOOK UP! You need to hook your Safety chain Hooks from under and up to hook em Up

Why does that receiver hitch look like a partial F-Coupler! #IYKYK! ;) Nice video on the connection!

Its a pretty beefy hitch, yeah. That was my thought as well!

@@livingforalivingRV The styling also lends itself to looking like an F-Coupler too! Rad for any traveler who knows!

We bit the bullet and bought a travel trailer. Those bars went on awful easy. Did you reset the hitch for the new truck and trailer? A trick I learned was after hooking the ball use the jack to lift the truck and trailer to where the bars push right in.

I didn't make any adjustments for the new truck+ old trailer. I'll be doing that on the new trailer for sure. My first thought is that the truck can tow 26,000lbs and the trailer in its current completely dry configuration is 4000lbs. There just isn't any "force" the trailer can exert on the truck through those bars as "weight distro" - on the old truck+old trailer config, they were difficult to get on for sure.

I suggest never having anyone direct you backing up.
