@@Section8Spectre I'll stick to my half glass full outlook thank you very much. Not to mention Disney's already done some pretty dark stuff already. Everything with Vader in the comics. They brought back the zombie stormtroopers. Lord Momins body possessing mask was also deeply disturbing especially with that one hallucination he gave Vader with young Anakins face forcibly melded with his mask.
@@rhymenoceros3303 again, all be done before in Legends to a greater and far better degree by the geniuses at both Dark Horse comics and in the novels. Just taking what has already been widely accepted by the fan base in Legends and pulling what they like from it to get fans excited. Don't forget how quick they were to throw the EU away and say it meant nothing and fire everyone at Lucas Arts, but wait, when they realize that no one likes Disney presents Star Wars, they have to go back to the material the true fans love to dust it off and roll it out to try and appease the fans. No sense arguing about it because Disney has already ruined this franchise, and anyone who is onboard with their direction is not a fan at all.
@@Section8Spectre Oh no the whole "ruined" the franchise argument again. You know I was there when they claimed that the Prequel Trilogy "ruined" the franchise and now look at how fondly those films are looked at these days. Your argument about them pulling stuff from old EU, just to get fans excited is a deeply cynical one and baffling. People want to see stuff from the old EU return, so how is it a bad thing when they do? And you have to understand that Disney didn't want to be shackled by 40 years of lore that may I add was cherry picked by Lucas himself on what was canon and what was not. They have every right to go in whatever direction they want, they own the franchise. Have they done the best job of things? Arguably no but they've only had the license for four years now and they have added a number of worthwhile things to the franchise so far. Battle of Scariff. All of the stuff in the Vader comics. A better emphasis on how the Light and Dark side are not inherently good or bad. Sure it still pales in comparison to old EU but that's a given when your comparing 4 years of lore to 40 years of lore, much of which was made by a variety of teams and writers. So its ok to not be a particular fan of the current state of Star Wars but that doesn't justify berating others for having faith that they'll get their act together eventually. And don't go acting like Legends was some great work of god or something. I miss it too but it wasn't at all perfect. Best not to let nostalgia and cynicism blind you buddy. At the end of the day though, whining about it and calling others "not true fans" isn't going to change anything. If you want Disney to do better, tell them that, show them that. The boycott of Solo was the right direction (even if the film itself was actually pretty good) it got Disney to step back and reevaluate their strategy. But don't go around acting holier then though or like you know better. Be civil and present your arguments like an adult and not a petulant child.
It’s scary knowing that the Empire built a Prison Colony around The Maw where Abeloth herself resides. I wonder if any of the Rebel POWs there sensed Abeloth’s presence before Rogue Squadron busted them out. I mean it would probably feel like living in an Underwater Colony with a Megalodon Shark living right outside the walls.
That's what ruined it for me. Why is the mother of the Mortis God's an unnatural horrible monster whose power is stolen. It sounds like an exaggeration by the father about his bitch of an ex-wife.
She was kind of wasted idea in my opinion. An Eldritch abomination with no star wars spin or twist. That's the issue with a lot of the old EU. It's X thing threw up on star wars. Example: The Yuzzhan Vong= Warhammer 40k threw up on while having sex with Star Wars. They're there cause people were bored of killing imps and wanted something new to shoot.
Something interesting about the Centerpoint station and Corellian system... Each planet of the Corellian system had smaler version of Centerpoint's "repulsor beam"... maybe those were part of the system to keep Abeloth locked, too...

People really just like the idea of Grey Jedi because it introduces a third option to a scenario where you’re given the choice of A) be a celibate lawful monk who shuns emotions and relationships, or B) be a sociopathic masochist who believes suffering is the key to ultimate power. Plus, there’s a misconception that Grey Jedi are basically the best of both worlds in terms of powers, and you also just get to be a chill badass with a lightsaber. (Truthfully, I don’t know what defines the Gray Jedi officially, or even if such a classification properly exists in Legends of Disney canon. I just know what a lot of people want Grey Jedi to be, and that’s something that let’s them more easily insert their head canon (likely Mary Sue) OC into the lore and have them fit in somewhere.)
Justin Stimson honestly? I found her power levels to be ludicrously narmy. I don't know why, but I honestly found the T'landa Til "priests" from the Han Solo Trilogy to be scarier. Maybe the connotations of a cult getting its worshippers addicted to something (the pleasure waves they used as a mating call) before selling them into prostitution or slave labor was what bothered me, but something about them just always made me squirm.
@@Sunsaparilla de nada. The whole trilogy is worth the read, but The Paradise Snare is the novel that involves the T'landa Til the most. Still, the whole thing is a great look at Han Solo's pre-Rebellion days, so enjoy it.

Thank god someone is making a video series on Abeloth finally! The other videos on Abeloth around youtube are either too short and leave you wanting more or just not of quality.
Remember that Jacen Solo’s flow walking and tampering with time was a crucial component to Abeloth’s escape. The stations repaired and adjusted her prison, but altering the flow of the Force is what’s said to release her.
First of all, love your intro including the music of HOME, Resonance is an amazing song. Secondly, your videos explaining big parts of the once-canon EU of Star Wars kinda creeps me out and I love it, baffles me that this stuff used to be canon, a part of me hopes that it’ll make its way to the current canon one day.
I’m working on an Abeloth cosplay for the same reason... lack of imagery for her... my first attempt at prosthetics went well so I’m excited. Thanks for Doing the video! Her character is so underrated it’s insane she was a beast!
It is absolutely frightening to know how close to Abeloth the Empire and Rebels were all throughout the entire Galactic Civil War and yet miraculously, did not come across her till after the War...
In my Star Wars rpg campaign, the players recently released Abeloth without realizing what they were doing. The entity is different in my games, as I got rid of the 'pool of knowledge' shit because I thought it was silly, and instead it's just an ancient evil looking to spread Chaos in the Star Wars galaxy (Actually, you'd know the reference, I'm doing a crossover with 40K and in my version Abeloth is actually Malal).
I feel like Abeloth was the writers having to make an even bigger and badder adversary because they didn't know how to make a better climax after the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion and Jaicen falling to the dark side.
i wish people would explore more towards the vast open ness of the star wars universe, focus more in its worlds, races, culture and its folk lore, imagine an open world game/movie instead of focusing the light vs dark side or rebellion vs the empire cliche story line, i want it to focus more on this lovecraftian esque story, or going on an adventure into a vast alien world.
I'd like a video on Abeloth's weird force graveyard, and about Jacen's vision beyond shadows. It was weird hearing that Jacen's fall was motivated by his visions of the Throne of Balance, whereas Legacy showed him as falling because he say future visions of himself killing Luke
#askeck Can you do the Gray Paladins from coruscant nights? They're a Jedi faction that used blasters and other weapons one was so good that she was able to send one of her own bolts straight up an enemy's blaster barrel. They also believed in using the force as little as possible so they focused on other skills like martial arts and military tactics like guerrilla warfare, urban tactics, espionage, and infiltration.
This is the kind of stuff we need Star Wars movies to be about. Screw Rays origins I want to watch a coalition of sith and Jedi take on an eldritch horror.

I tell you what, picking up Fate of The Jedi as my first Star Wars EU book series, in tandem with the X-wing series, though starting with Wraith Squadron and reading Aaron Allston's books before Stackpoles, and then piecing together the Yuzhan Vong series by searching for the books in different libraries was an awesome introduction to the Star Wars EU. Lots of mystery and piecing the story together, which just made it fun.
Abeloth is an amazing character with a great story. I so wish she and the books were still canon. These books showed Luke a a very strong Jedi with heart, never backing down or running to hide. The new Star Wars makes me cry with how weak they have made the main characters.
God those books were incredible..what a great time I had with those series. Legacy and Fate of the Jedi were some of the greatest SW novels ever written.
I liked NJO a little better, but there was still lots of good stuff going on. I may... never fully get over the WTF ending of Invincible though (Daala = chief of state? whaa...) no other candidates, clearly...
chris sonofpear1 ya dude me too! I was like really!? Have they not forgotten the atrocities she’s responsible for and her crusade against the Jedi? I never forgave her and always hated her, and then her actions against the Jedi and use of the mandalorians sent me over the edge. In the end they got her out of office thank god
Yeah, that was... odd. Annoyed people on the Jedi Council forums too, no end. You'd think the Mon Cal would be VERY alarmed. And there was that senator G'sil, for one, right there...
I officially need to see Abeloth animated somewhere or at the very least, a cameo or something, even a moment. I know Disney probably won't do it because they're super hesitant with something THIS scary, especially given the shit they'll know they'll probably get if they fuck it up, but goddamn, she would make for a more effective villain/storyline than anything we got in the sequels.
You need to build a playlist of this cuz I plan on making an art piece about this but it's very hard to find references and you are very good source of it
I want to see more on her life and the force artifacts from before she became Abeloth. What makes these things so terribly dangerous as to create such a powerful and far reaching presence.

More like Cthulhu living outside the walls

Abeloth has always been cool to me. This eldritch horror freed from the Mortis gods' chains and bent on chaos.
That's what ruined it for me. Why is the mother of the Mortis God's an unnatural horrible monster whose power is stolen. It sounds like an exaggeration by the father about his bitch of an ex-wife.
Abeloth is honestly my favourite thing about legends, I always found the idea of her intriguing
@@slyfer60 All it takes is a damn good writer with a clear gasp of the overarching workings of the Star Wars universe to make it work!

Each planet of the Corellian system had smaler version of Centerpoint's "repulsor beam"... maybe those were part of the system to keep Abeloth locked, too...

That scene in It (2017) where pennywise opened his mouth really wide made me think of Abeloth
#AskEck Has there ever been a time when the Sith, during the Rule of Two era, were in danger of extinction by accident? Such as a Dark Lord falling down the stairs or choking on a piece of food.
This is an excellent question. There's a rumor saying Vader almost choked himself and his master in a BDSM session to death. But Rogue One interrupted them. That's why Vader was so angry much of the time. He didn't like interruptions.

Then you maybe say, well Im a god, I just erase all bad things for them and constabtly do their bidding.
Then they start to forget you. Religion and the concept of god is starting to seem like a stupid fairytale and you just stand there and dont know what to do. Will you still work your ass off so that they dont have to suffer anything but get no praise and instead everyone makes fun of you? Or will you only help those that believe in you and get called a tyrant by the rest?
Or will you help no one and by that proving them right that you dont exist?

I am looking forward to this series. Before the release of The Mandalorian on Disney+, I would love to see a series of videos on Legends Mandalorians compared to canon Mandalorians.
which era of mandalorians.
stefan lunsmann the whole history of them legends vs canon
I still can’t describe how scary the concept of just the Maw is and abeloth
"The empire was evil"
From MY perspective the GALACTIC REPUBLIC was evil
Yeah, but the empire are just space racists sooo...
Cansifer no was the republic as they saw people like Jawas and other species as “lower species” infact the republic was actually extremely racist as dozens of planets believed that aliens were to blame for their shitty lives. And the empire actually made laws against racism against aliens. I’m telling you that they were strict and terrifying but they kept order
Then you are lost!
If you worry about racism you should probably investigate brainwashing and propaganda... you're a victim.
This should have been the sequel trilogy main antagonist not Snoke or rehash Palpatine.
Naw, should've been the Vong.
Then Kylo.
THEN abeloth.
Disney ruined it all!
They should make one last trilogy in which shes the main antagonist
I've heard of Abeloth before and she creeped me out and the art I can find I love. I'd love for stuff about her in canon.
I would love to see more art for Abeloth! She looks very terrifying, and her strength is no joke. The idea of her is nearly Lovecraftian

@Wolf Alpha 900 sounds gay
Sith: Forced us to kill friends by using some sorta brain deal implanted before our birth.
Seems evil to me.
@Stannis Baratheon ahsoka became a grey jedi in rebels and she kicked the inquisitors ass, she also fought vader. She lost to vader tho.
Watch out for space-tentacles is probably the best advice I’ve ever had
I've watched enough hentai to know where this is going

Justin Stimson honestly? I found her power levels to be ludicrously narmy. I don't know why, but I honestly found the T'landa Til "priests" from the Han Solo Trilogy to be scarier. Maybe the connotations of a cult getting its worshippers addicted to something (the pleasure waves they used as a mating call) before selling them into prostitution or slave labor was what bothered me, but something about them just always made me squirm.
@@nicholasfarrell5981 interesting. I've never heard of that. I'll have to check it out. Thanks
@@Sunsaparilla de nada. The whole trilogy is worth the read, but The Paradise Snare is the novel that involves the T'landa Til the most. Still, the whole thing is a great look at Han Solo's pre-Rebellion days, so enjoy it.

I am so happy you made this, I wanted to know more on Ableoth
In my Star Wars rpg campaign, the players recently released Abeloth without realizing what they were doing. The entity is different in my games, as I got rid of the 'pool of knowledge' shit because I thought it was silly, and instead it's just an ancient evil looking to spread Chaos in the Star Wars galaxy (Actually, you'd know the reference, I'm doing a crossover with 40K and in my version Abeloth is actually Malal).
I’m subscribed to many of the top star wars explained UA-cam sites and I have to say your videos are by far the best audio and best voice quality.
I feel like Abeloth was the writers having to make an even bigger and badder adversary because they didn't know how to make a better climax after the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion and Jaicen falling to the dark side.
That thumbnail art made me jump when I clicked on the link. It’s the only depiction of Abeloth that actually has done so. Kudos to the artist
i wish people would explore more towards the vast open ness of the star wars universe, focus more in its worlds, races, culture and its folk lore, imagine an open world game/movie instead of focusing the light vs dark side or rebellion vs the empire cliche story line, i want it to focus more on this lovecraftian esque story, or going on an adventure into a vast alien world.

I think DnD is gonna have a chat about the use of "Aboleths" lol
Hp lovecraft glaring from the side: OH really?
One of my favorite tales. Wish there was more on the first time she was imprisoned
This is the kind of stuff we need Star Wars movies to be about. Screw Rays origins I want to watch a coalition of sith and Jedi take on an eldritch horror.

I'd pay money to see a good movie about this character!! Out of everythingI've heard in Star wars legends this would be the one I would want to see.
Always felt Abeloth could be brought back into Canon as a counterpart to the Bendu, being more chaos orientated. Could be an excuse to redo the Vong again as his fucked up followers
I love that you use footage of Malgus for your videos, you should really do a lore video on him if you haven't already. The guy has an interesting arc.
Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi were my introduction to the old EU.
Abeloth as the big bad put the rest of Star Wars in such context
I tell you what, picking up Fate of The Jedi as my first Star Wars EU book series, in tandem with the X-wing series, though starting with Wraith Squadron and reading Aaron Allston's books before Stackpoles, and then piecing together the Yuzhan Vong series by searching for the books in different libraries was an awesome introduction to the Star Wars EU. Lots of mystery and piecing the story together, which just made it fun.
We know how terrifying Abeloth is because she transcended the star wars universe and found a way to destroy it from the outside as Kathleen Kennedy.
Abeloth is an amazing character with a great story. I so wish she and the books were still canon. These books showed Luke a a very strong Jedi with heart, never backing down or running to hide. The new Star Wars makes me cry with how weak they have made the main characters.
"nothing contains a more terrible being then the maw" scp foundation: never have I seen such lies before

chris sonofpear1 ya dude me too!
Just imagine: a star wars horror movie about this
I officially need to see Abeloth animated somewhere or at the very least, a cameo or something, even a moment. I know Disney probably won't do it because they're super hesitant with something THIS scary, especially given the shit they'll know they'll probably get if they fuck it up, but goddamn, she would make for a more effective villain/storyline than anything we got in the sequels.

Yes but massively scaled down. It is (to my knowledge) IMPOSSIBLE to kill a chaos god, only weaken them.
@@somen0body417 In theory, you could **temporarily** kill a chaos God by killing all their mortal worshippers. Even then, it would only take ONE chaos cult to rediscover the lore, start worshipping, and thus resurrect them.
