Easy Abstract Animation With Geometry Nodes (Blender Tutorial)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2023
- In this Blender tutorial We will be building an abstract animated loop. We are going to begin with Building the base in a simple geometry nodes system. After that we will make duplicates and make them animated in a random way. Then we will begin lighting the scene and adding a dynamic material to finish it off.

your tutorials are a delight, sir !
Thanks for all your crazy good tutorials!!! helps a lot as a beginner...
and i hope u never stop your cat from playing along ;)
Love that fabric shop look
this thing is awesome, inspired to try make some similar stuff :)
This was a fun one!
awesome tutorial!
Keep on keeping on Ducky!
The "other way" to do the rotation as you state at 9:55 is to use the Delta Transforms. In object property's within the tab Transform there is a sub tab Delta transform.
I need to try that! Thanks
@felixr1306 Just tried it, and it works beautifully! Thank you for that suggestion :)

wooooow! looks sick as hell! can you make sort of an abstract smoke animation?
I have one I made about a year ago, should still work in the current blender version
Very very cool
Thanks
whassup ducky, i don't think it's the first time you suggest there being a better way of rotating the animation except this one that you used here, but there are other ways(like adding another geonode group, before/after the mograph group, that sets it up the same way the empty object parenting does)
i assume that you said that because other people might've asked/it might look ugly for some people... but i think that's just the way it is, thanks for the tutorial man.
I am also a blender artist 😅
Nice
I am beginner 🥲
Thank you for your amazing tutorial! 😍 Question! How can i have other shapes or objects instead of cylinder or cube, a more complicated object? 🤓
How do you get the material to apply randomly to each object within each instance versus to each collection of instances? When you select by the object it selects all the instances together…
7:42 ducky admits defeat
Hello. Thank you again for your work and my training))) I have a question about the lesson: - How to correctly and correctly insert a logo or a small text into this design? With a simple addition of text, something awkward turns out and a lot of objects and beauty disappears.)))
You can do all that in a single node tree with join geometry.
I tried that but I found the duplicating to be a more enjoyable experience, but you can certainly do what works best for you
Wow
Thanks
Wow. I wants to make it toooo
Sweet!
is it possible to apply a rigid body for these cylinders? so they could react on other meshes
do you have a course of some kind to learn how to make procedural materials like the ones in ur asset pack Im all for saving time but I'd like to learn to do it myself
Nice one. But you tried too hard to make it easier. It could've been easier to setup & moidfy if only you've made a group inputs for cylinder radius, depth and noise parameters. All this copies of geo-nodes make it too complicated to debug resulted animations.
Hotkey for changing interpolation is "T", with curosr on a timeline with selected keyframes.
Also there is a way to animate Z rotation of an object and rotate it afterwards. It's delta rotation. But the empty method is much more intuitive.
@Ducky 3D,,, Request a tutorial on the blender rigid body physics simulation,,,,,
Hey, while animating I see that in the first couple of frames there is easing and kind of the speed of the looping animation doesn't match, at frame 240 ends fast and the first frames it accelerates, already checked automatic easing and played with the controls, using linear interpolation still doesn't get the desired effect? Any help !
Keep the awesome content, Ducky!
make sure that W parameter has keys -1 on 1 frame and 0 on 240 frame. Also check both Noise Texture nodes. i had the same problem cause i set keys from -1 to 1 (but it has to be 0)
How do you make a “light catcher”, so that I can add it to live footage.
(Im trying to make a scene with a flamethrower simulation. But I can’t find a way to “catch” the light for the render like you would do with a shadow catcher to add it to my live footage.
Any ideas ?
So it seems like in this solution, its not actually grabbing a unique color for every cylinder of the same diameter like in the render at the beginning of the video. The object info "random" socket is only outputting one value for all cylinder of a certain diameter? Just pointing it out. Going to have to look up different solutions for getting a different color on each cylinder.
Wouldn't it have been more robust to copy and modify the initial tubes to get the thinner inside tubes from WITHIN the geometry nodes, rather than creating a whole separate geometry nodes set for each size of tubes?
On a 3080 using cycles this took me 4min 10sec to render a single frame with the settings you showed. Is there a good way to improve that render time without losing too much quality? This geometry seems really simple yet takes so long to render.
it depends on your settings and your resolution. as for me, 1080x1920, 150samples with denoiser, it would take roughly 30-60 seconds per frame. How do you setup your render settings?
@@mdhafiz00 Yeah I can get around the same amount of render time like you, on a 3070 with the same resolution and 512 samples. Render settings matter but also the kind of materials being used. Maybe Megan Bess got a more complex material that requires more computing or perhaps the settings under Preferences > System isn't optimal.
make sure you render with gpu , not cpu
you can also set max time for each frame. if you set 1 min for each frame u will not lose too much quality. this hack saved me a lot of time
Please I need help in choosing computer parts, I found ryzen 5 1600 plus RX 580 8gb for the same price as ryzen 5 5600g which one should I choose, thanks in advance

How does ur Outer most cylinder layer has different color for a few. Mine has the same color for all Outer layer cylinders, how can I change that?
Is there a way to use your own mesh instead of a cylinder?
Dunno if you still need the help but you can use the "Object Info" node instead of the cylinder one, just make sure to pick the obejct you want to insert with the eye dropper.
@@spoopypoon Thank you.
i found this tutorial exceptioally hard to follow without pausing or rewinding
what command is used to hide plane object????
h or just uncheck the eye icon in the object layout at your top right corner while on the layout

I'm a beginner learning Blender, I always look forward to the latest tutorials from your channel.
@@cyntiamelisa3 I'm sort of a beginner too.
Blender's got a kinda steep learning curve but with a couple of tutorials you'll be getting the hang of it.
you forgot the intro , right?
I'm just curious, why most of awesome designer always have cat.
Boy, mine will not loop. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Copying your values exactly.
did you ever find a solution?
