1,100 Sq. Ft. Flagstone Patio

  • In this video I put together a 1,100 sq ft flagstone patio. First I laid retaining walls and covered them with stone veneer. Then I started laying the flagstone. The stones were imperfect and a random pattern so it took quite a long time to cut and lay each stone. Once I finished laying all the stone I grouted the joints with mortar and cleaned the job site.     Nice job. I'm in florida starting a stucco company been mixing by hand for so long finally thinking about a mixer. How many cubic feet is that unit? Looks awesome.

    You should not be using type s for your flatwork. Spec mix makes a paver bonding mortar that is silica based instead of lime based. Has 5000psi rating compared to 800 psi type s. I’m in Minnesota and this is what the industry leaders are using. Also using tremdrain which is like schlutter board on top of the sub slab.

      Type s is higher than 800. But yeah, typically we don't use lime for flatwork in an area that freezes
