There legitimately are incel lions though. The dominant male will kill or chase away other young males, who often group together to hunt. It will be the greatest coming of age tale of our generation. Jake will be played by Kevin Hart and then The Rock.
The biggest issue with this film outside of the script is that it's hard to not make these realistic animals look natural singing and dancing. There was a magic to the animation play the original Lion King movies
Them being realistic also held them back in another aspect- character recognizability. Maybe it’s better in the movie (which I will never pay to see), but I was REALLY looking in the trailers and simply could not tell the difference between Mufasa and Scar. They look identical! "Fun" fact: they call it live action because, legally, they'd have to pay the artists more if it was called CGI. Its all a big ploy to not pay people what they're worth. Merry Christmas!
I enjoyed it more than the initial live action Lion King but found myself thinking I'd enjoy it more as a traditionally animated movie. The Bye Bye song from the villain lion had me laughing in the theater like "this is his his thing? bye bye? he really says bye, bye?" He looked so vicious and intimidating but "bye bye" took away that feeling for me.
The fact the director of one of the best films of the last decade is now making content™ for the Disney media machine gives me a feeling of weltschmerz. A word meaning a general feel of melancholy over the state od the world.
I respect that Disney wants to hire directors with more of a "Criterion-Collection" sensibility, but Disney fans don't generally...go for those kinds of films. Sometimes these sensibilities work fine together and other times it's like watching someone try to fit a square peg in a round hole. The problem is, directing opportunities for directors like Barry Jenkins are getting more and more rare these days and I don't blame them for trying to reach out to bigger audiences. Anyways, hope the paycheck from this gives him some financial ease to try and make the movies he really loves to make!
Let's get one thing straight here everyone. These movies OKAY ARE NOT CANON TO THE ORIGINAL ANIMATED LION KING UNIVERSE. People are seriously under the impression that Mufasa is telling the origin of these characters and are trying to connect to the good ones. It's not canon to the good ones. Scar and Mufasa have always been blood related brothers. Mufasa has always been royalty. Hell this movie is completely contradicting the last one.
Ya know what would’ve been am amazing? If the current/present storyline was the realistic stuff but the flashback story is stylized/cartoony cgi instead of hyper real meh art. Like at least then you have an identity for this film beyond “the las tone made so much we have to now”
this is the second video in a row that is also my introduction to the movie's existence. No wait i think Man Carrying Thing made a skit for Kraven before the review
At least it's an original story instead of a remake. I still didn't want it but the live action Disney that takes some risks and makes actual changes at least have a chance to have a reason to exist.
Oh god, they explain how pride rock became pride rock? Awesome! So, it‘s another „Solo - A Star Wars Story“ where they just explain everything that doesn‘t need explaining everything that doesn‘t need explaining, just so people go „oh, oh, oh, I remember that!!!!“ Cool. Great idea. After all, everybody loved that, when „Solo“ did it, right?
For some reason, I now have the idea of Littlefoot and the crew as hyper realistic cgi dinosaurs in a remake of The Land Before Time V: The Mysterious Island. And them singing "Friends For Dinner" with hyper realistic cgi Chomper.
Knowing nothing about this movie, I saw a review from another UA-camr and thought the white lions were an edit the UA-camr did as a joke to the whole Kimba vs Lion King thing. Then I watched another review and found out it was real
I saw another review say they felt like this movie was an experience to see what Disney was capable of with their CGI. Nonetheless, I don’t plan on watching this but it looks like another stale live action remake and really good point about telling the lions apart! That has to be confusing for kids.
1:07 money? Idk why does Disney do anything? (Disney the company at least. There are a lot of creative people doing good work who gets screwed by the mouse)
I like Disney's cycle: "Our animation is getting old, we need to modernize." "Our new animation needs to be for broader audiences and more realistic." "We can make a an anatomically correct model of any animal, but forgot how to animate."
Honestly, I thought this was a modest improvement over the 2019 film. At least they tried to have some decent looking shots instead of being a slave to realism.
I had this thought like, imagine everyone just stopped eating meat, and they only ate stuff that was grown in a lab, or like veggie burgers - I don't have a problem with that fundamentally, but seriously, how long would it _actually_ take for those facsimiles to not remotely resemble the flavor of their original meats? That's what I think of these movies, it's like a terrifying transitional glimpse into a reality that only recognizes the natural world as a distant, distorted memory.

Imagine they actually made an original story, with the classic animation... it would literally sell itself!
Man needs to take son to Sonic 3
"Fun" fact: they call it live action because, legally, they'd have to pay the artists more if it was called CGI. Its all a big ploy to not pay people what they're worth. Merry Christmas!
Wow…. That’s evil
Transformers one was not needed either, but yet did this prequel story WAY BETTER.
@twomo I'd argue it was needed, we haven't had an animated Transformers movie since the 80s.
I got to see your thoughts on the only good movie this Christmas
Sonic 3
Note to Disney - Please stop, regards everyone
Let's get one thing straight here everyone. These movies OKAY
ARE NOT CANON TO THE ORIGINAL ANIMATED LION KING UNIVERSE. People are seriously under the impression that Mufasa is telling the origin of these characters and are trying to connect to the good ones. It's not canon to the good ones. Scar and Mufasa have always been blood related brothers. Mufasa has always been royalty.
Hell this movie is completely contradicting the last one.
I really don't think anyone is getting their panties in a knot over the "canon" of the Lion King ffs 😂
Pretty sure most fans know this
Do the evil white lions have anything to do with Kimba? That's what we need to know
Ya know what would’ve been am amazing? If the current/present storyline was the realistic stuff but the flashback story is stylized/cartoony cgi instead of hyper real meh art.
Like at least then you have an identity for this film beyond “the las tone made so much we have to now”
I love how the movie was so boring he just started talking about other movies that he can’t wait to see
I'm also looking forward to the Bob Dylan film! It'll be my first time seeing a bio-pic about an artist I'm already a fan of.
i wouldent even argue its for kids, this movie is for spreadsheets
did not expect jake to wear a dragon ball shirt. also i think you are due for watching a good movie and i personally recommend transformers one
@regioxys Transformers One was peak and I will forever be mad it flopped
I am stuck in a constant loop of being reminded Mufasa exists and then immediately forgetting of its existence
1:57 off topic but I think with this sentence you somehow described how sadly ai movies will be if they don't regulate it
Finally, Man Carrying Channel!
Can't wait for Man Carrying Baby.
If you thought your kids were scared of mascots before wait til you go to Disneyland and see realistic Timone and Pumba running up to your child
this is the second video in a row that is also my introduction to the movie's existence. No wait i think Man Carrying Thing made a skit for Kraven before the review
Who is simba's kids, is it the girl from 2 or the kingdom hearts looking lion guard or literaly just lion sora
All of the above?
@ wait was sora adopted by simba in kingdom hearts at some point
got an ad for sonic 3, a movie i've already watched twice, on this video :)
Sonic 3 SWEEP
At least it's an original story instead of a remake. I still didn't want it but the live action Disney that takes some risks and makes actual changes at least have a chance to have a reason to exist.
They really just made the live action Lion King again and thought nobody would notice
Oh god, they explain how pride rock became pride rock? Awesome! So, it‘s another „Solo - A Star Wars Story“ where they just explain everything that doesn‘t need explaining everything that doesn‘t need explaining, just so people go „oh, oh, oh, I remember that!!!!“
Cool.
I listened to the bye bye song and ive been laughing for 10 minutes, might actually watch the movie because of it
A real Alice Through The Looking Glass kinda situation with this movie
Nah, I think it was a great idea!
Gonna take the family to see it~
We need Man Carrying Mufasa
I knew movie would be bad. Everyone eat crow.
Is it me or the fact the villains are outcast white lions is a slap on the face of Kimba the White Lion?
I assumed that to be the case.
So they are literally fighting Kimba the White Lion in this one?
In a nutshell? Go watch Sonic the Hedgehog 3!
Mu-false-a
The ads for this movie said everyone’s talking about it, but were not talking about it for good reason
I literally forgot it was coming out, it was just white noise to me like all Disney stuff the last few years.
Knowing nothing about this movie, I saw a review from another UA-camr and thought the white lions were an edit the UA-camr did as a joke to the whole Kimba vs Lion King thing. Then I watched another review and found out it was real
I sincerely prefer the Lion Guard cartoon’s origin for Scar. That was at least funny.
I saw another review say they felt like this movie was an experience to see what Disney was capable of with their CGI. Nonetheless, I don’t plan on watching this but it looks like another stale live action remake and really good point about telling the lions apart! That has to be confusing for kids.
rawr congrats on the new cast member
i wanted a cgi version of deviantart cat romeo and juliet
1:07 money? Idk why does Disney do anything? (Disney the company at least. There are a lot of creative people doing good work who gets screwed by the mouse)
I need your take on Netflix's 100 Years of Solitude
Can’t wait until you review Sonic
Disney Adults can not mention his name out of fear of the mouse knowing where they live.
0:06 I like her persistence.
I like Disney's cycle:
"Our animation is getting old, we need to modernize."
"Our new animation needs to be for broader audiences and more realistic."
"We can make a an anatomically correct model of any animal, but forgot how to animate."
Honestly, I thought this was a modest improvement over the 2019 film. At least they tried to have some decent looking shots instead of being a slave to realism.
yeah, thats the main positive i think this movie has
which is kind of an alice through the looking glass scenario
Then in 5 years we'll get a 2d remake when the remake and sequel bucket dries up
Something about sonic 3 idk what do you want for me
"it was fine" he said. Yea what is "Fine" compared to the Ultimate Life Form.
Finally Disney solves an ancient mystery: "what would a lion look like in real life?"
Disney forgot Cameras have been a thing for over 170 years.
Next spin-off channel: Family Carrying the World.
Don't mind me just a Sonic fan passing by to see how the Disney adults are able to cope.
Nobody but the shareholders.
