You’re the first reviewers to say that Cynthia Erivo was the standout. I saw it yesterday and I agree 100%. Couldn’t take my eyes off Erivo. Erivo made me feel EVERYTHING. She was sublime.
@thehouseofoverthinking Hm, well Star Wars is natively film. I think you're able to have degrees of separation re: Oz. Books that became a movie, a book based on the movie, a musical based on the book. So on. Honestly, I think the only hope for Star Wars is a Flash Gordon-like serial playing between other films.
@myautobiographyafanfic1413 Yes, you're right. Oz has no sense of true canon, as even the original books are inconsistent within themselves. Of all fantasy worlds, it's probably the most open to evolution and unique takes. Star Wars is a different kettle of fish. I'm not a big SW fan so I don't know a huge amount, but I wish they'd stuck with the original expanded SW universe. The only sequel film I enjoyed was The Last Jedi, and that was solely because unlike the other two, it didn't automatically retread the originals.
Cynthia and Ariana were absolutely sublime casting choices as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. You need to have a strong onscreen chemistry to make their bond seem all the more convincing, and they both pulled it off with ablomb.
Even though the movie was long, i wish we spent more time with characters, becoming friends and learning more about them.but maybe we'll soend more time with them individually
I had no plans to see the movie, I was perfectly ambivalent about it. I was asked to go with someone else and I agree: it’s a slow build but the 2nd half of this movie is phenomenal. What a lovely, unexpected empathic gift of an experience
Yep can confirm its actually pretty good, and only a 1 year gap between part I and part II which means you'll actually still remember some of part I compared with Mission Impossible...
I remember seeing this years ago in London and thinking that the big flying set piece and song (I think it's the end of the first half) was the end of the show. I was horrified that it was only an intermission because I was ready to leave.
This makes me so excited to watch it now! I love the musical and the book and I was worried the film might not do it justice, especially since it was announced it would be split into two films
I'm not the slightly interested about that show, and the again race swap of a character, being a black girl being a witch, isn't really interesting. I've seen Blade 2 recently, it's much better.
you can't really "raceswap" most theater characters imo, theatre has way more colorblind casting, so if a show has been running for enough time, the character's probably already been every ethnicity
Jake giving the most ominous “okay” I’ve ever heard as Nadia reveals how much she enjoyed it 😅
Woman Defying Gravity
(Part 1)
Gladiator 2 is what's going to destroy this relationship.

I started crying just listening to her ending of The Wizard And I yesterday
I'm not interested in the film. But she's been impressive elsewhere.
@myautobiographyafanfic1413 It's great that Oz fans can have a moment. I just wish Star Wars fans could get such a treat.

nadia always positive and Jake that mise-en-scene film school negative Nancy :)

I live for these reviews
Did everyone forget that Ariana Grande started her career acting?
Seems like, yeah
Woman carrying baby (Jake)
Definitely superb casting

i think the flying monkeys were on her side, in the original, elphaba was the one who stood up for them while the animals were being mistreated

You at the end of act one: oh fuck, there's more?!?!?! 🤬
Me at the end of act one: oh FUCK🎉🎉🎉 THERES MORE 💚🖤💚
Both valid responses

The Woman carrying Person is bout to burst 😮😮😮
wickedddd 🤙🤙🤙
Quite the contrast. Digital movies. Amirite
FUUUUUUUCK
Did you see it at Cinemark Century Point Ruston?
When is Nadia getting a letterboxd?
I loved the movie but I thought the editing was annoying. I wish they would let scenes play out more instead of cutting every three seconds
Wait Woman Carrying Man, are telling me this film is “wicked”?
SHE’S WEARING GREEN FACE!!!
❤
are the "plankton farts and dies" jokes acceptable in this comment section?
Please watch transformers one
We've heard what you think about Ariana Grande.... What do you guys think of Areola Grande?

Blade 2 is really nice
Bro she's playing a green skin character how tf its a raceswap
@@TheIqram12 Agreed, Elphaba is not black, she's green
@@fyhwcu indeed
