I did a test run of a project pan to see how it is like. I'm surprised to say I feel confident that I am able to go on a no-buy and try to downsize my makeup stash. I love makeup but I don't personally want to spend as much as I did before. I am guilty of going into the consumer cycle.
I only started panning in 2020 but I have become obsessed! Like you said it is addictive. I found it motivating to start with a lot of mini products (like things I got from Ipsy) since it’s easier to finish those and made me excited to work on full sized products! I also like to keep a journal specific to project panning/makeup inventory. I’ve always been someone who needs to write things down and it’s super helpful!
Nothing curbs makeup purchases like project panning imo. I've been panning for about 4 years and this year I decided to take a break from it. However, I feel like my purchases this year were way more than I may have if I was panning. Needless to say, I'm going back to panning this year and am so excited for it.
I tried a rolling 5 pan last year and enjoyed it, but I lost steam towards the end of the year. I might try a seasonal/ usage project to see if that’s more fun. I was thinking 14 uses on 14 products by Valentine’s Day to start.
Can’t wait to keep using up items into 2022 and slowly curating my collection down to my favorites. This year my favorite panning hack was to crush up and mix powders together to change formulas to work for me better ex. a covergirl pressed powder was too mattifying and heavy and an hourglass powder was too sparkly/glowy for under my eyes; mixed together it was actually a favorite until I panned it. PS this is like your perfect red lip!!
I did my first project pan this year because I realized that I was buying too much and most of them on impulse. So I went on no-buy from Jan to Jun and used just what I had. I picked ten items, mostly those kind what I normally wouldn't reach for. Really an eye opener of what I think that looks pretty but isn't really my thing when I actually apply it on my face. Will continue doing project pans because I still have some categories where I have too much products. I also want to do seperate project for nailpolishes. I rarely wear nailpolish but for some reason I own 10 bottles of it.. So next year I will try to use them as much as I can and in the future settle owning only one or two bottles.
I absolutely love this video and your message here. You are the very person that inspired my own project pan. I really want to get usage out of the things that I buy. Trying to pan a blush is probably one of the most highlighting (for me) of truly how long it can take to pan an item! This has absolutely taught me what needs to be on a low buy (blush, eyeliner, highlighter) and what I go through quickly (bronzer, face powder, skin care). Thank you for sharing you methods and inspiring others!!!! I truly enjoy the content on your channel and the mix between newer and using up what you have (the frankenbronzer!!! Wow, lol). Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Personally I just take monthly pictures of my project pan items and put them in a designated folder. It's fun to be able to compare them and I save the pictures for finished products too
I've been panning for almost 2 years now and I love doing it. I also have just learned new tips! I don't have yourtube or even social media, I will do my own progress in a different way, thank you for that! Like they say, learn something new everyday! Now hopefully this will give me motivation for next year!
Great timing! Definitely feeling like I have plenty of items in my collection that aren't getting enough love and I think a usage based project pan sounds right up my alley! Also your makeup looks incredible in this video! Loving the soft shimmery eyes with the bold lip and your base looks flawless!
I just want to share that I got inspired by some of the panning content I watch ( like some of your videos) to repurpose a face powder I have that's just about a shade too dark for a bronzer! Gives a super subtle effect that I love and I can't stop using it now 😄
I'm toying with the idea of doing a makeup project where I try to use everything in my collection 3 times throughout the whole year... Just to make sure I'm cycling through all of it. That doesn't sound like a lot but there are some items but I might count each eye shadow pan. Might adjust to two as the year goes on ha!
Agree 100% in posting to social media for a project pan. I started doing this just for myself. I have an IG. I did end up tagging a few things and I have a small following (only 79 people), but I don’t really do it for anyone else, but it is nice to get a few encouraging comments occasionally. Most importantly to me is when I pan something I comment on the pic what I thought of it so if I forget there is a record for me to go back to. I will also tag the brand and I’ve had one or two brands comment back to me. Never thought that would happen. lol...
Thank you for this video...I have bought a few things based on hype. I'm definitely starting a small project pan next year because I just have too many lipsticks 😅 they are my weakness.
If this isn’t true, I don’t know what is. I have 34 lipsticks, I have to use them up/more. I have so many j don’t know what I’m doing with myself. I decided to go on a a no buy and just start panning.
i started to project pan in 2018 on my instagram. i had a 10 product non rolling year long PP (i didn’t know you could roll stuff in 😂) and then a pan that palette. since my year long was non rolling i did a lot of season projects in the second half. i have learned that first year of panning that i don’t like a pan that palette 😂 did it the entire year for 2018 and never again
That was really a detailed and super helpful video! 😊Thank you very much for that💕 I would like to start my first project plan next year. And your tips help a lot! ☺️I am really looking forward to it!!! Best regards!💕
I've watched this 4 times, I'm so interested in trying this,. My biggest problem is the amount of make-up i have is outrageous and i can't find where to start. I when i say outrageous I'm talking 3000 makeup items. 800 are eyeshadow palettes. Many many things in my collection have never been used. I've thought about doing a massive declutter , but then i get fomo.. ugh any advice? I got so excited i used up two powders and a concealer so far this year. So i think panning would be fun. Just kinda lost on where to start
Have you tried a project 5 uses? For eyeshadow palettes ( the way I do it is anytime I use a shade in a palette I mark that as a use and once I meet my usage goal I go to something else) Also samples are an awesome place to start tryna use up... I have a big collection and like to rotate my things ... My best advice would be to look for more videos of project pans and then work out what would work best for you.
Oh and if you are anything like me and like to switch up what you wear for makeup everyday maybe put multiple palettes in a project 5 uses ... ( and if you're feeling something different dont be afraid to switch it up ) in the end its still less than what there was 😊
@@flawedfabulous you're welcome, and declutters are so hard I find... I been slowly decluttering my stash of beauty products and its not easy especially when I discover expired products thats the kicker for me ... I wish you luck on working on using your collection 😊
This video is Awesome ❤ I want to Start a Project Pan to enjoy My Makeup even more, Thank you for taking the time to educate us about Starting A Project Pan🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍
I know this video is old but it's giving me the motivation to start planning the lipsticks I never use. I got overwhelmed seeing all the lipsticks I don't use but used to love, so I thought maybe doing a project pan would help. Wish me luck!
Thank you for a great video once again! What resonated with me was #5 reason for project panning. I'm getting to know my makeup again. I do not have single cream blush. All six are solid powder. Learning to use what I have in hand. Also a question to the community out there: Do you find yourselves using more of a product (or should say more heavy handed) to use it up or get to pan? Something I've noticed I do. 😳
I've found myself being a little more heavy handed in some cases, or if I have just had enough of a moisturizer I might just use the last of it as a hand cream. If I really don't like a lotion it turns into foot cream
Thank you for your tips! I started project pan in 2021 for the first time and really enjoyed it, but I got some new ideas from you) Really liked this 10 uses system, because sometimes hitting pan or finishing up seems overwhelming. Yes, most people who project pan also end up implementing some sort of low-buy or no-buy, or start being more mindful with their makeup consumption as a result of project panning. I don’t view panning as an excuse to excessively buy more stuff, and I don’t think that’s how most panners view it either.

Great video! 💜. Next year I’m doing multiple project pans- Each month I use one product from each category, then I add 5 items from my deck of panning, then I have several year long projects like 22 items (any beauty product) in 2022, A to Z products, and partners in cream. I’d love to finish my nail polishes , lipsticks, skincare , and ( samples ) for now . Eyeshadows , I sold the most things that I don’t use . I’d love to be very picky to buy next year . I’d love to ask you about lipstick ( because of Covid ) and wear mask , all the time . How do you progress ?
I pan out anything I can recycle first. Items I can reuse, like for jewelry storage, or mirrored compacts will be last, after cheap plastic or cardboard singles. I deconstruct the materials, remove magnets, etc. I am on a low buy year, so I passed up the Bath&Body works sales, until I have nothing left from them.
Hey and happy new year 🎉 I just found your video and love the guide how to do a project pan. AND I love your makeup. I don’t know your channel, is there a tutorial for it? I would love to see it ❤
I just started and actually it makes my makeup routine faster since I’m not spending so much time on thinking of what to use with what since I have a accumulated so much this year. I felt so bad about it but now I feel like since there’s a goal here than it’s possible to use these items up. Live this video!
I love your full coverage looks these days! You look amazing! :)please list what your wearing in your description! This foundation looks soo good on you!
Never had a lot of makeup, not used a lot of makeup, but the last few years i have used more. In 22 i panned two eyebrow pencils, one pressed big bowder, one eyeliner and one lipgloss. Before christmas i bought new makeup and donated (to a relative) what i had for a little more motivation for myself. And planning to pan it all. These are my staples. Like the powder foundation i chose, lipglosses, eyeliner, browpencil and eyeshadows. I will not buy any new makup until they are empties. Like if one pallette is empty i can buy a new palette. This for me is easier than having plenty of makeup. I now have the makeup i chose for this year and i committ to it.
I was listening to this video, choosing which products I wanna to hit pan/finish up. Picked up Soph x Revolution Extra Spice and started to play with it and once I hit the second time the shade Cookie Dough I hit pan. MY FIRST EVER EYESHADOW PAN.
I am continuing with my panning journey. I am going on a no buy. I'm not going to buy anything unless I absolutely run out of the product. That means if I use up a concealer, I won't buy another one unless I do not have a concealer at all. I have to downsize my foundations and concealers. I have too many of everything.
Anyone downsizing their makeup? new makeup or used makeup? Send it to me I'll use it send back the empty bottle and I'll feel better finishing your pan 😁
I did a test run of a project pan to see how it is like. I'm surprised to say I feel confident that I am able to go on a no-buy and try to downsize my makeup stash. I love makeup but I don't personally want to spend as much as I did before. I am guilty of going into the consumer cycle.

I also do a lot more reapplying of like lipstick and gloss, even just sitting around at home
Haha yes I keep reapplying some lip gloss at home just trying to pan this super old one… 😀
When I first started I was more heavy handed, but now it’s leveled out. The only habit that stayed was touching up my lipstick more
I'm going to try this for 2024! I have bought a lot this past year or two and need to stop spending and really use what I have
You’re makeup looks amazing! Loving the look

My reason: i want to buy new makeup but don’t want 10 of the same thing
Revisited this video for more inspiration. It’s one of the best to get one into panning.
Love this makeup look on you, especially the lip color!
I started doing a seasonal protect pan. Keeps me from getting bored 😉
I love your full coverage looks these days! You look amazing! :)please list what your wearing in your description! This foundation looks soo good on you!
A grwm will be up on this look tomorrow!😊
Going to start my project pan next year. I’m hoping to use up most of my small collection. 🤞🏻
Yay!! Good luck :)
Your eye look is AMAZING! Thank you for all the wonderful content you create.
Thank you so much!
MY FIRST EVER EYESHADOW PAN.
ahhh congrats!!!
I am continuing with my panning journey. I am going on a no buy. I'm not going to buy anything unless I absolutely run out of the product. That means if I use up a concealer, I won't buy another one unless I do not have a concealer at all. I have to downsize my foundations and concealers. I have too many of everything.
Sarah thank you for this video - I never understood about project pan - I see tons of project pans on UA-cam
I would love to see you do a pan that palette! 😳 I am tempted to try one for the first time myself
This eyeshadow look is insane!! Tutorial request!
Thank you for the information. I want to try this next year. 🤞😊
This is such a beautiful holiday look on you today!
How do you take the stopper out of a concealer? So you can use it up, when you can’t reach all the concealer.
I use a pair of tweezers! Showed a demo in this video: ua-cam.com/video/1lnZiuI5DKE/v-deo.html
