I do this more than I care to admit. With clothes, perfume, makeup, all sorts of things. Alot of times things go bad or out of style before I've had a chance to use them up. I am also learning life is a special occasion, celebrate it.

It’s crazy how long it takes to finish up pretty much any makeup product. Even if I use a product every single day, it usually takes two or more years before I finish it up.
Same for me. I realized that I'll never purchase another blush and contour, bronzer - I have so many eyeshadows I can use as blush, contour and bronzer that I'm set for life.
The only thing I actually repurchase is primer, setting spray and makeup remover. Everything else takes its sweet time

I love all these videos that are not just focused on buying more stuff. 🙂 I’m noticing that I continue to buy and barely use and still look for the next new thing.
I do the same. I want to be more conscious about using up all my product.
I love that you are using past data to make realistic panning goals plus refreshing your panning set quarterly to keep it fun. I am a data analyst in my day job so this combination of goal setting + tracking + regular updates tickles my work brain lol.
It is great to hear your approach for this year! I have adapted my panning style to using my most expensive up first coupled with those that are starting to show signs of aging. Once they are in, they stay in until they are used up completely. I usually have between 25-30 products. There is no timeline which I prefer because there is no pressure and I still continue to enjoy all of my collection not just a few. I heard a similar sentiment several years ago from someone that was about 40 years my senior. They said, use your most loved perfume now, don’t save it because you never know when your last day is. I have adapted that throughout many aspects of my life.
Mary from GlitzyFritzy has a monthly rotating basket of products she uses. She tries to use up everything, and at the end of the month she decides whether to keep the product in the basket for another month and whether to toss it or put it back in her drawers for a later date.
That CT cream shadow might also be great as a bit of glowy cream blush type of thing 😅 I use mine in the shade Jean as a cream highlighter and it’s pretty!

I havent finished one yet but I feel like the Tower 28 glosses move so fast. And they aren’t that small but it’s great for making me feel accomplished lol!

I tried to project pan this year and failed miserably😆 I might try in 2023 but start small. I 100% agree with not saving expensive products for special occasions, not just makeup but fragrance, skincare etc. Everyday is special❤
You could always sanitize the lipstick with alcohol or remove the top part of it where the cat hair is.. to be honest though, I would probably do that if it was a high end lipstick
So excited for your Project Pan next year, I love your idea for the structure of it! I always used to try to pan my oldest products but I've been letting myself pan newer products recently and have been having a lot more fun, so I'll be continuing with that next year. I think I'm going to work on panning a single shadow for the first time next year too!

Great logical approach to a topic that is mostly driven by emotions! Thanks for the inspiration and the reminder of not saving more expensive products for special occassions. Time to bring out my full face of CT products and start a joyful project pan process without time limit. An add-on is that my vanity will look inspiring and luxurious. 😉
I love how refreshing your approach h is to panning this year! I think when we have a lot of joy and less pressure it means we can be successful and have a better mindset! I shifted my focus this year and took a little less pressure and focused on a lot of usage goals and gave myself a break on certain categories. I have had so much success this year and have touched everything I own now. I need to do this as see what I want to work on right now I already have so many items that will roll in so hopefully that means that I can really see things move next year - excited to follow you along on your panning.

I feel the same about eyeliners as you do…not panning any specific one. I just have 4 that are at the halfway mark so hoping to go through all of them next year. Lol 🤞🏼
I’m also putting my CT cream shadow in my plan to pan but I have the oyster pearl shade im excited to reach for it for my everyday looks. the texture is my absolute favorite

I use my lip balms as moisturizers. I had 15 of them. I need to use them up somehow
This year has been a very successful for me as I finished quite a bit of complexion products, so I think next year I'd like to start to focus on eyeshadows. I already selected 3: a creamy one to set my eye primer, a mid-toned brown for my transition shade and a dark brown for my brows. Those are colours I wear everytime I do my makeup, so they won't be a chore for me.
I've just been doing a casual panning, no records - just trying to use things up. I'm about to refresh my seasonal focus products for winter and considering setting up a proper project pan.

I’m planning on doing a project 10 uses project pan rather then a rolling project pan which lasts all year which I’ve been doing for the last 2 years . I’m bored of that now and I have a big makeup collection I want to show everything equal love 😊
How funny, just this morning I started to choose what to pan next year... quite a task since I've worked on reducing my stash to a basic one over the last couple of years and I'm running out of categories with more than 1 or 2 products! For instance, I now only have 2 highlighters, 1 powder, 1 foundation... Luckily I managed to pull out 5 items in the end.

@@R.L.Maverick 👍 truly I've got a mixed selection. It only depends on the quality (nowadays affordable doesn't mean bad) and the way things work on me. But it's taken me time and unfortunately lots of money to get to this conclusion 😳!
@@isabelcode.hello50 thank you for the reply. I agree, I care more that it is a good product. I will say though, that I have reached the point that I have to ask myself, ‘would I use this over…that’ and if I can’t say ‘yes, most likely’ I don’t buy it. It’s really helped me to put things into perspective and slow down spending. For example, am I going to use this Elf Bitesized shadow over the ND Biba palette…probably not. Then for me, it’s a waste of funds, even if inexpensive. Great discussion!!! Thanks for the insp, lol!

Next year I want to use up an Hourglass lipstick, some Bite lip products, and a Chantecaille blush/highlighter duo. I only have a handful of high end products and these are the oldest/most likely to turn. I also want to use up 6 pans of eyeshadow. This year I finished 5 eyeshadows and I will have at least 6 with enough pan that I can finish them in 2023. My largest categories are lip products and eyeshadows. Every year I try to hit 1 pan in an eyeshadow palette that I owned in the year prior and 1 pan on a single. (I own less than 15 palettes, though, so this is pretty manageable).

I am so excited to start project panning again next year! I'm starting out by following along with Christina Chang's Harry Potter project, and then I'll probably hunt around for some other themed projects I can participate in. I just bought a really pretty planner to mark everything down in. I'M READY! lol 😊
I finished the kosas powder in 6 months it goes fast once you hit pan. And it’s a waffle pan if I remember correctly. Excited to start my 2023 project pan.

I’m on holiday after 3 long years without any. I use way more makeup than I’m at home. Bought more already but I’m so excited to use up the older ones. Hope to at least pan my nyx banana power, 2 brows pencils or maybe hit pan on a blush within 3 months. 🤞🏻🤭

I just hit pan on the Kosas cloudset, I was thinking I never would, and it's not a shiny pan so I honestly prob had paj for several days before I realized. I also panned the Kosas Revealer concealer, if you pull out the stopper it keeps going and going lol
I'm probably going to be more conscious of using my Charlotte Tisbury eyeshadow now!
I wonder if that CT shadow can be used as a blush? Idk what the formula is like but it might be more exciting that way.

kosas concealer takes me about 4-5 months, but i absolutely love it! im on my 5th tube lol
I’ve decided to do a “pan that palette” next year with the it’s freakin bats palette. I’m a little nervous but I’ve got a pretty good amount of pan in it and I use it almost daily. I don’t necessarily want to finish every shade but I’ve had it since 2020 and the mattes (which could already be finicky) are definitely starting to act differently (I don’t think they’ve gone bad but I can tell they probably will be by 2024)
That's the problem with "clean" products. They go bad quicker because brands don't add preservatives so I am always weary of buying face products that are "clean"..
The colourpop foundation went way slower than what I expected.
The Charlotte Tillbury flawless filter took me a very long time. I did have the full size though.
I want to pan or use up my cream blushes, highlighters, and bronzers, and I'd love to make a dent in my single cream shadows. I found 2 dried out expensive cream blushes so I don't want to waste more.
Does anyone else remember being so sad to hit pan? Simpler times, sigh.
