    What I've learnt from project panning is never to get a back up👍 tastes change, something new is released of better quality/more innovative/up to date or such, no additional stress to finish original and start to use back up before expiration date.
    Great video👍

    Project pans have definitely helped me understand how long it truly takes to go completely through an item. My first project was a skincare one and so many products I said "I think I only have 3 uses left" on items I chose out, and soooo many of them I had 10 or 20+ uses left LOL!

    About saving high end products for a special occasion...life itself is a special occasion and using the "good stuff" is a way to celebrate life and yourself. So use the good stuff before it goes bad.
    I do a PAW, which is a palette a week rotation (I use Wheel Decide to choose which one is next). I also do Turning shade where you cycle through your palettes in groups of three. Again I use Wheel decide to help me chose...first palette is used the first week, second palette the second week, third palette the third week, and the fourth week you incorporate all three palettes. I also do a pan that palette for the year...so every week I have from three to five palettes to work on, so you have the variety without the boredom. A weekly makeup basket is another way to rotate through products . Last thing that I do is a Lipstick Roulette...I draw one out, use it that day, then the next day repeat until all of your lip products have been gone through. This way you make certain that the lippys are still viable.

      I’ve done the same thing with my lip products because I have SO many. I have a gallon-size ziplock bag of lipsticks and one of lipglosses. Once I use one I put it into a new bag and I have to go through everything in my collection before I can go back and use one again!

    I’ve been project panning 5 eyeshadows this month and it makes me realise how much I use.
    When I was using 200 different eyeshadows, for years I didn’t pan anything. Now I’ve panned all 5.

    I like to pick a pallet for the year to pan and I focus on one eyeshadow color each month. I roll in 2 lipsticks every month, one dramatic and one work appropriate. I then just have a rolling pan of all of my other products.

    Project panning is so much fun, plus it really helps me understand my makeup usage. There are some 3-4 days in a week that I don't use makeup at all. I started little by little, I am doing moisturizer, perfume, body creams, mascara, eyeliner, eyebrow, setting spray. Love this videos so much.

    Kelly, I have to say you’ve really inspired me! I really wanted to focus on using the items that I already had and rediscovering old favorites that might be languishing in a drawer. I found your videos and you’ve been a huge help. I now do a monthly makeup basket, and I have managed to use up a ton of products! And it’s really exciting to build my basket at the beginning of every month. I put everything I need in there: a dry shampoo, a face wash, an eye cream, you name it. All of my skin care and hair care and beauty products for the month. And I have gone through so many items already! It’s really exciting to finally finish off the last quarter of an inch of hairspray that you’ve had for three years. 🤣
    Thanks for the inspiration and ideas. I’m enjoying this so much more than I even expected!

    I think project pan makes sense for people with a larger make-up collection. People who just have one make-up, one bronzer, one blush, and so on... have no problem with finishing them. So having to buy new products is just another expense for them and not something they have a feeling of achievement. I really like your project pan and I think itś great that yu try to get use out of your collection but on the other hand I can´t get rid of the feeling that a project pan really is kind of a cure for a luxury problem (having collected to much make-up). So I get it when people who simply use their make-up (like me, although I still tend to have a few more products than I need) withou having a huge collection don´t understand the need for a project pan.

    • @leannschaffnit7376
      @leannschaffnit7376 5 років тому +1

      I have to agree with this. Most parts of my collection just have a couple items (bronzer, blush, concealer, etc) the only ones I have a large number in are highlighters and eyeshadow palettes, but that's because I love to play with them and experience variety. I have no desire to pan any of them

    • @KellyGooch
      @KellyGooch  5 років тому +25

      I disagree! EVERYONE has something to gain from panning, regardless of their collection size. Even a panner with a smaller collection has knowledge to gain through this journey. Project Panning should never be a race to finish something up! However, it teaches participants how long it takes to finish items & helps you understand your preference for different formulas. Also, panning is not limited to makeup. So even someone with a small makeup collection, could focus on panning household items. I definitely understand where you’re coming from but I think everyone can benefit from panning. xoxo

    I don't have a very big makeup collection, but of the stuff I have I definitely own more eyeshadow than I realistically use or need. One of my palettes is completely untouched. With my other stuff it shouldn't take long to use up, but nevertheless I have a project pan makeup basket. I definitely need to make the most of my collection and wear more eyeshadow. My project is rolling in the sense that I'm not replacing the products until I use them up, but I'm allowed to use other things that aren't in the basket.

    The people with the largest hoards, like 50+ lipsticks, etc. could learn how long it takes to go through an item if they pan it. BUT, as far as getting the most out of their collection, I think putting products in rotation would be better. Like if they made themselves use a different lipstick everyday until they cycled through the whole collection. They could have a bunch of products go untouched and spoil if they focused on one item for too long. Project Cycle!

      Yes!!! I just used up a perfume that was starting to turn and I’m really proud of myself. I’m trying to use up fragrances because it’s the worst feeling when an expensive bottle of fragrance that you didn’t use enough because you were “saving it for special occasions” turns funky and then you have to toss it. I’m trying to make it a point to reapply my fragrances more during the day, and if I have a couple that smell nice but maybe aren’t my favorite to wear anymore, I use them as air fresheners. Why not? I’d rather that then have them go to waste on my dresser. 😍

    I do not have a large enough collection to justify several project pans right now. I am doing Christina Chang’s #HPProjectPan right now to use up a few cream products that I don’t love, but don’t dislike enough to want to declutter.
    I also have way more eyeshadow palettes than I need, but they are all different from each other, and I love them all, so I wouldn’t declutter any of them at this point. The last 6 months or so, I have been doing a Palette of the Month project, where I use one palette each day for one month. I can pull in other palettes, but I use at least one shade from that palette each day. I haven’t ever hit pan on an eyeshadow, but I am really excited about the progress I have been able to make with previously unused palettes. I have tried to film a video for the last two months talking about it, but I just can’t seem to talk about it the way I would like, so I suppose I will try one more time next month and see!

    I would LOVE doing it but I feel imma neglect my other products in my HUGE collection. More then half of my collection is barely used because the past year I’ve been in a high risk bed rest pregnancy and before I got pregnant as well, now I’ve given birth to my preemie (8wks early) 3 months old, I’m divorcing my abusive husband and I rarely wear makeup. I’m dying to try it out. Lol did I just say the story of my life in a comment regarding project panning😆.
    I’m trying to put makeup these days to make me feel better, but when I do I don’t have time to do full look or use products half as much as I used to. I’m still buying makeup here and there and it’s my guilty pleasure and I know one day imma return back to how I used to be because it’s my due hard passion. I love collecting, using and discovering new products new looks etc.
    any advice?

I think i am going to try doing it quarterly. and hopefully that will keep me from being like eww i dont like this anymore feeling. Also i think because i see so many project panners that try to empty it completely and IDK why but that just puts me way off.. I like the idea that you see any pan at all its now okay to disguard and move on.. again that was my mind set and i need to realize that i dont have to do it anyone else way nor do i have to watch those or follow those IG that empty it completely since i dislike that style
