EUROPE VLOGS ARE BACK!! We have always wanted to visit Lake Bled, ever since we saw a picture of it! Hope you had an amazing weekend everybody! If you are new here hit subscribe --> ua-cam.com/channels/3CxEBKx2l38nl1_SFsC2gg.html
I just looked some slovenia videos and I wonder how come all follow the same scenario (Ljubljana, lake Bled & Postojna caves) and nobody visited for example the birthplace of famous white horses namely stud farm Lipica and than the river of Soca? To mention just that two places.
sLOVEnia is the love of my life. I have been there like 7 times and still haven't seen it all. Close to lake Bled is a place called Vintgar - fairytale walk. I'll be sharing this video to all my Slovenian friends. It's very beautiful.
In case you decide to visit our beautiful country, there is much more to see beside main city Ljubljana & Bled. I really recommend you to visit small towns such as Bovec or Trenta. It`s surrounded by Slovenian national park where you can see bunch of waterfalls, castle ruins, beautiful river banks and so on. There is also many sport activities such as cycling, climbing, hiking, fishing and lets not forget the mountain lakes in the surrounding area. Fun fact, many of the scenes you see in the movie Narnia were filmed in Bovec/Trenta
Flying The Nest awww! Thanks! Lol yes! Me and my husband have gone in early fall and in winter one time when the snow was soooo soo bad we almost didnt make it there! Like no joke they had snow drifts plowex off the streets as high as the bus we were taking literally the most scariest ride of my life lol! It was night time as well when we were travelling and honestly the bus driver was driving a bit irratic lol! But we made it there! I have a very long story to tell behind the romance of this very special place for me and my hubby- but ultimately i should tell you he proposed to me there! :D how could a girl say no right? I'm an american who used to live in England for 8 years as my husband is a true Britt and we moved back to America in TN for 2 yrs now. My husband is definitely homesick for Britain so you never know if we will move back lol. We'll see, but traveling abroad from living in the UK which we did A heck if a whole lot was so unbelievably affordable and we miss it! Hope to one day meet you guys in person! Who knows? Maybe abroad one day? Lol love the vids and all of your amazing journeys remind me a lot of ours :D
Oh, thank you guys, for reminding me of the "Potica". I'm not from Slovenia but I used to know a Slovenian lady who talked about this Potica a lot. She actually advised me against ever trying to make it myself because it's a whole art and she kind of thought that I could not succeed in making this - but one day I will try!
Cafe is called Babji Zob (pronounced: Babyee Zoub).. it roughly translates to Ol'woman's Tooth... It's named after a sharp mountain that's in the background of some of your footage :) Just thought to throw in some trivia in there :P
Flying The Nest in the summer it was absolutely stunning. Sitting by the waters edge with the sun hitting each ripple. Watching people row across the lake! I hadn't even heard of it until I got there but was blown away! We unfortunately didn't go swimming Barr a few of us. We were told not to and there were signs saying not to swim which I found weird. The cream cake was absolutely amazing, even better than any vanilla slice I've ever had! Definitely want to go either in autumn when all the leaves have changed colour or in winter when it's snowing!!
I love you videos and I really enjoyed seeing Lake Bled in the winter! I was there last summer, and I would love to go back in the fall or winter. We actually stayed in the guesthouse right where you saw the boats for rent, and we rented those boats! But there arw lots to do around Lake Bled! If you go back I would recommend a visit to Vintgar gorge, it is gorgeous! And in summer you can take a bobsleigh ride down that ski slope! And also there is a castle above the lake, with beautiful views over the lake and an amazing restaurant!
How Stunning!! Amazing island...l have never heard of Lake Bled but looks so winter wonderland...❄ Thanks to my fellow Aussies for spreading the word..🇦🇺💜 Looks like most people in Slovenia speak english? 🤗
We can speak English.. Because in school we learn it (Popoular language is:)) But otherwise this is our national language, so we speak mostly every day. But like me the most commonly contacted in school talking during breaks sometimes also something after English because it is fun and ' ' Cool ' '
there are better looking lakes/places in most of the nearby alp countries. the only upside to slovenia is that it's much cheaper compared to those other countries. it's a cool place to chill but not much to do really
The lake bled is even better in the summer! Also, there's a second lake near bled called Bohinj (or something similar) which has "private beaches" all around it, so you can just walk, find some nice one and have a private beach for free
So nice to see that someone thinks all this is beautiful. I live next to lake Bled and im there every day twice for my rowing training. I think that most slovenians have the problem of not seeing the beauty at their doorstep.
Bled isnt dead its just winter from summer there is an giant amount of people and alot of korea peole. Btw my cousin works there and he rides a boat that we call pletna. And i am from slovenija
I just looked some slovenia videos and I wonder how come all follow the same scenario (Ljubljana, lake Bled & Postojna caves) and nobody visited for example the birthplace of famous white horses namely stud farm Lipica and than the river of Soca? To mention just that two places.
I am soooo happy that you guys are continuing with the Europe journey! Really enjoying your vlogs! Come to Turkey please! I would love to be your host and show you guys around!
So one can actually still rent those row-boats a the lake? Whoa that is some deep level childhood memories going on here. I was there with my parents when I was about two and a half, or three years old. Those are some of my earliest memories that I have. That was 40 years ago.
Thanks for visiting my hometown. Oh, and it's called potiCa, not potiKa. =P And Babji Zob means Hag's Tooth, which is a name for a caveren that can be seen in the background at the start of the footage when looking at the Lake.
Just adore you guys and your vlogs! Hope you’re having a beaut of a day! And if you ever come to Southampton I would love to show you Hampshire!! 😊💕 xxx
You guys actually missed the most famous viewpoint of lake Bled - one of the surrounding hills has that "perfect" view where you can see the island and all :) Its where most of the cool photos are taken from.
Great Video Jess and Steven. a very interesting country that I had not considered to travel to. Steven, you were brave to put the camera so close to the water on the boat. Imagine if you dropped it.
Very nice video, beautiful country. I live in Western Canada. All my life (40 years) I have worked with English engineers who came to Canada during boom times. It took me months before I understood the average Englishmen and years before I understood the ones with Cockney accent. Must say that every single word you two spoke was incredible audible. Wonder where are you from? With thanks from Canada.
Hey Paul, thanks so much for watching our journey and joining in! We absolutely love Western Canada - we have a whole series there you might find interesting! We are from Australia :)
I just love that you two love cream cake ;) if i would of know about your channel before i would defenetly show you around :) keep up the god work! and travel often :P
Hi Guys, very new to your channel, like 5 mins. We are due to visit Slovenia in May 2020 for a golfing trip from Liverpool, staying Lake Bled for a few days then de-camping to Ljubljana subsequently. Can you advise the hotel you stayed at and is it a thumbs up for say a 4 day stay. I look forward to following your travels and catching up on your previous travails. M. Have found it CUBO, it was on the napkins at Breakfast. Congrats on your recent baby news.
Flying The Nest it looks amazing in winter and since i live in Boston and we always get snowed in...i dont like walking in the cold and hate snow🤣which hotel u guys stayed at? seems convenient🤗
Flying The Nest Yes! I was going to say the same it is magical! And be sure to visit the castle as well! Soo soo worth it! And the view of the island as well!
fun story about the bell: there was a very rich couple living in Bled. the husband sadly drowned in the lake and the widow decided to take all of his money and made a giant golden bell out of it so they'll put it in a chuch and it'll be a reminder of her husband everytime someone rang the bell. but the boat that was suppossed to bring that bell to the island was sunken down by the storm. the widow gave all of her gold to make a new one and this one made it to the island safe. but the widow took her own life by jumping into the lake and drowning. the legend says if you rang the bell the wish Will be heard by the husband and wife and they Will make sure it is granted. but some of the people in Bled are to this day saying that in dark and stormy nights they are still able to hear the bell that was sunken down ringing from the depths of the lake.I'm sorry 4 all od my gramer mistakes, but ya know... slovenian girl... anyway... this legen sounds way better in slovenian but you wouldn't be able to understand it so...I'll be very happy if you would tell me what you think about this legend
That is spring time in most of Slovenia, but Bled being surounded by Alps is still cold in April...second half of May and June would be my suggestion, since it is not a full tourist season yet,but the weather is already nice,or between December and February if you want to experience the winter...
Hey! I love your vlogs! You guys are the best! Honestly though, if you can add a little bit of history when you visit places like this one here, it would be great. Now, I know you are not documenting, but a couple of tit bits or fun facts would be nice! Like, you focused on the oars when you got onto the boat. They enable a peculiar way of rowing and maybe that fun fact would have been worth a mention (would have costed you 10 additional seconds to say it) and would have sounded nice by just the way you say it (love the little giggle in your voices) Just a thought...

Flying The Nest does the song really have any relations to Slovenia 🇸🇮?
Nope! Does it need to? I enjoyed a song, found some inspiration from it and edited to it :)
Should have went up to the castle, the view is amazing

100%!
Hi
Awww 😊 Im So Happy You Liked Slovenia
Such an incredible spot!
Cafe is called Babji Zob (pronounced: Babyee Zoub).. it roughly translates to Ol'woman's Tooth... It's named after a sharp mountain that's in the background of some of your footage :) Just thought to throw in some trivia in there :P
Haha oh wow? No thank you for that Trivia!! We had no idea
Stunning wintry footage... Awesome sight from the drone...!
I think this might be part of my end of year trip...! (love Euro winter)
Oooh yes you should definitely add it to your Europe trip! Slovenia is s stunning country!
in winter bled is the best when the lake is frozen (rarely happens). otherwise spring or summer when everything is green.
It's a place you could visit twice
Flying The Nest How about every year for weeks on end in summer? A privilige of being a native :)
they are travelling around the world. I bet Australia is a lot more adventorous than Slovenia.
I loved lake bled! I went on a European contiki tour and went here in the summer! I also swear I've been to that pub and had the creme cake 😂
Ohh what was it like in the summer?? did you all go swimming?? AND did you love the cream cake???
Flying The Nest in the summer it was absolutely stunning. Sitting by the waters edge with the sun hitting each ripple. Watching people row across the lake! Compare those "Bled cream cakes" to the same kind in Samobor near Zagreb. I can't decide which is better.
Hey guys, awesome videos. When did you went to lake bled?
Much love from slovenia
So nice to see that someone thinks all this is beautiful. I live next to lake Bled and im there every day twice for my rowing training. I think that most slovenians have the problem of not seeing the beauty at their doorstep.
You did a sensible thing skipping that hike - we did it in the summer and it was steep and slippy then! The view was incredible though😊
