Chris will do fine. I waited a bit to see him adjust before I made any comments. The Filipinos think he is great. Chris has won them over with his simple start-up life style. He has turned into a hero for one family. Even though he talks " Me budget, Me budget he found enough to give a neighbor money to rent an Angel costume for a little girl to participate in the local parade ( HE WAS NOT ASKED ) He also gave a young lady money to repair a couple damaged teeth. ( HE WAS NOT ASKED ) He is a good soul and I am pleased to call him neighbor and a friend. Tell your friends about this channel I think it will be fun to watch him grow here.
I'm in the same situation you are kind of in, came here younger, not even close to retirement but here I can manage it with lower cost. Every where I go people are trying to say I need a girl and try to put me into a relationship. That isn't why i'm here and don't plan on jumping into a relationship until I am good and ready. iwant that I stumbled upon video in You Tube in the past, a group of Expats talking the reason why are they more attracted to live in Visayan island groups than in mainland Luzon. I was stunned! But proud to say I welcome them in Visayan. Chris will find out soon enough why Visayan is a magnet.
Several years ago, my fiancee and I stayed with one of her old friends in Cavite. She was paying about 4000 pesos a month for a nice little place. It was a decent little neighborhood, too, I thought. I must confess, if I was on my own, I am perfectly happy sleeping on an air mattress and not having a lot of furniture. I will have to get over my tendency to accumulate all kinds of other crap, though!
Frank Richmond Hi Frank, it's a western trait I believe? you should of seen all the rubbish I accumulated over the years that I had to get rid of. Thanks again.
apparently there are extremely few single ladies in their middle age because divorce is illegal. you have to find a spinster, a widow, or go with a very young woman never married. is that accurate?
Bro I'm right with you. I just want a more free life. Everyone isn't in it for some young women that's going to take over my freedom all over again.I'd love to come help with the rent in that upstairs.
Same as my house, two story house but the size is exactly like this, I bought it from laguna near at tagaytay, even this small house is not easy for me to pay specially I’m single and my salary is enough only to pay monthly bills and also because really wanted to have a house for my self! I had also a foreigner suitor from Mexico and I’ve meet him when I went to phil for vacation 2months ago , he’s currently working in phil now , but sad to say After i came back here in taiwan he change, he always had an excuses for not communicating with me ,I don’t know why , so I decided to stop for chasing him , I feel that he has another girl , I know my self worth and I’m not scared to los him because I am independent .

Hey Cris W, where is this place? I pay 3,500 n dont have a 2nd story as well as privacy? I thought they only do this to foreigners n im a filipino by blood
Before deciding to "live" in RP, you should stay a few months and see what you're getting in to. Why? A sizable percentage of foreigners are unable to adapt to the trials and tribulations of living in a "developing" country like the Philippines. Often, things you take for granted in your home country are either unavailable or difficult to come by. One of my biggest complaints is the unfair stereotype that all foreigners who come to the Philippines are wealthy, thus, they should pay a significantly higher price for products and services than the natives. Not all feel that way about foreigners, but many do, so you must find ways to determine the fair price of whatever you need so you aren't routinely taken advantage of.
its quiet lowsy I mean to have such places in crowded place better buy a piece of land with pilipina wife in spacious place and build self slowly expansion when money available where you can also have vegetable gardening..well for pensionare Americans or australians european with pinay wife ... just telling . Hi Chris, love your videos. I´m a brit also and have stayed twice in Phills, each time for 3 months.Where in gods name is that place of yours for only 2500 php ? i was in Mindanao in 2010,not going back, you probably know why ? and cebu last year. I couldn´t find a place like yours for under 10k. Anyway to cut a long story short i retire next march and i´m coming back to stay so i´m particularly interested in cost of living as i won´t be on a full british pension. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work, George.
***** hi george when you are in cebu and looking for a house try to check the areas in busay or mandaue im renting a house for 9k in busay cebu city with 3 bedrooms and a parking space
hi george thats abit pricey for 1 bedroom in lapulapu but then again it depends on the loacation lapulapu is getting pricey these days coz of the tourism in that area, however there are still alot of good and cheap places to stay it may take longer for you to commute though but hey its part of the fun...if your in cebu just email me and we can hang out with some of my friends cheers again and thanks for replying to my post.
how is it like in the low cost housing? i am doing a research paper and due to the pandemic, i cannot go around and asking people in person. if you would be so kind in letting me know. i only have a few questions and i am dropping one now. i would like to know if the second level of your house is usually hotter than the ground level? this would be so much help. thank you!
Hey forget about what others think, you are doing what is best for you at your young age. Problems in your homeland is very understandable. I lived there at Clark Air Base in May 1991 right before Mount Pinatubo explosion. I think that you may be young to have heard about it. Finally the person cleaning up your house may down the road if she is single, no drama and all that good stuff could at be a friend that is girl to girlfriend to the final step of marriage, hang in there mate.
i pay 4000 pesos for an unfurnished 2 bedroom 1 bath apt which is still a bargain considering it has a balcony with a back porch and fenced in and the beach 10 minutes away.
Of course there's that type of people everywhere not just asia. But live your life and dont try to make yourself a hero to anyone. Just be who you are and never think that all people are alike thinking that you are a dollar coin with two legs.... Live as the other does Filipino are good enough but know where will you stand. I am a Pinay live and work abroad almost all my life. But whenever I come home I wore wear off clothes and just flip flops no wallets on my hands. But only those close to me, friends or family who always tries to rob me, honestly. We smells like fish so to say. They smells to us the foreign currency. Now its up to you to give or not. Ive been robbed by my family and close friends a tons of time therefore I could relate to what you are saying. Dont ask me how much because you would not believe it. Wow Chris, what a deal! 2,500 pesos is roughly $58. If only I could pay that little for rent on my place in America, I'd be able to save quite a bit of money. Unfortunately I live in one of the most expensive cities in the world. Thieving bastards :)

A brit in the Philippines, shout out to you my friend thank you for loving our country, new friend here, i want us to be friend , i hope we can support each other. thank you.
Mike Anderson Hi Mike, yes her name is Elaine. I think she is cute, however, I don't think she is that old and she has a husband.. Thanks for your comment.
I met my wife over there 16 years ago and we have been living in the states. I saved my money and bought a house for cash in Zambales for amazing price.BUT you have to really do some searching because homes are more expensive than I would have imagined. If you can manage to do that instead of renting you will be much better off. My only expenses now are food and electric and gas for the care and trike.. Easely affordable and the best way to go if your'e palnning to live there full time.
Problem is you can't own a house unless you are a citizen there. Renting is not a bad way to go there, if you buy a house and all of sudden your neighbor puts up a piggery close to you and it stinks you are stuck, If renting you can always move if you are renting. You can get a nice rental for $250 per month in many places and probably cheaper in the provinces
@@redranger518 Your landlord can raise your rent or ask you to move. $250. mo rental would pay utilities and food etc. for us. Don't care if my name is on the title, it's my wife's and will stay in the family for years to come.
@@mikemeyers7924 $250 give you freedom to move anywhere you want. The price you paid for the house would of gave you freedom to live where you wanted to in PI and move around. If you want to gift a house someone family then that's your game, not mine.
Thanks Chris...looks very comfortable...and very nice,,,maybe some video of your neighborhood..sometime...very interested in your perspective of life there...keep up the good work,,,

I came to the Philippines for Christmas and New Years 3 years ago. Because my parents passed away and a Filipino nurse in the USA told me her family would love to host me.
hello, I have found this youtube film about living cheap. He 's rental cost is 1200 pesos. My question to you would be. Are there other places in the Philippines where you can rent between 1200 and 2000 pesos a month? best regards Gregory
@@ABritinthPhilippines Thanks for the honest answer :-) Rather .. Would you say Panglao is cheap to live in? I would like to live on a budget of 300 euro :-) And i am even considering to live in a appartement if that is cheaper. What are your thoughts about that? I would even add that i would like to live in a rural environment. The city is not my thing. beste regards Gregory
Well Gregory, that is a good budget, if you plan well and don't burn any bridges back home I'm sure you'll be successful. Apartment,it depends what it is and where it is.Many blessings my friend. Panglao is no different than anywhere else in the Philippines, location, location, location.
@@ABritinthPhilippines A thought Panglao is one of the cheapest but stil pretty. There are so many video's that i cannot see the difference anymore :-)) But i definitely would like to have a good starting location to explore. When i decide to come to the Philippines indefinitely i would like to rent out 1 apartment maybe 2. But still i am always save. So 300 euros it wil be. By the way.. I am from Belgium :-)
If you have the time and money, travel round the Philippines until you find the place you want to be,I would however recommend you stay away from tourist areas.
Nice house for 2500! I don't live full time in the Phils, but I do have a house there and have some college students maintain it for me. I pay 3,000 per month and it's about 2/3 the size of your place - well done! Otherwise, about the same - CR and kitchen are similar. I listened to your cost of living video and concur - you can live cheaply for under $500 usd per month -- just be frugal and don't expect to have an American or European lifestyle. I did furnish my little house with a bamboo living room set - bench, two chairs, and a table - for approx. $50. Good luck and please continue to publish your videos.
500? Chris told me today that 300 euro ( 340 dollar ) is a good budget. If have to be quiet sure what to expect before i make any drasting decisions. So anybody that can give my a clear on that. I like to life verry basic. As long i can enjoy a daily swim on the beach i am a happy belgian :-)

wow! you're so lucky to find such a pretty good size appt for a very low price.Since you don't occupy the upstairs, you should get a roommate and charge half of your rent. It will help you with your budget. just a suggestion :) nice vid. thx for sharing
60 bucks for a place like that, you cant go wrong. You coincidentally just end up in the same neighborhood as Kuya Jack and Ate Myra or were they the ones that pointed you over that direction?
Thanks for sharing. Always good to know what you can get for the money. What city do you live in or province? I'm assuming houseing is more in bigger cities. My hoa is $173 a month in the states for a condo.

Hi, I am not up to date with them areas, so I am not in a position to comment. thanks again.
iwant that I stumbled upon video in You Tube in the past, a group of Expats talking the reason why are they more attracted to live in Visayan island groups than in mainland Luzon. I was stunned! But proud to say I welcome them in Visayan. Chris will find out soon enough why Visayan is a magnet.
Sandra Kantor No he won't, not unless his budget improves a lot.
That is really nice I mean you can do so much with that house
thanks for showing a real view of what can be
All the best to you mate.
Thank you.
Looks very nice. It is a beginning.
Moved on since then Bert.
Yeaah, you’re crazy mate! But that’s alright, as long as you’ve got a place to sleep, that’s what matters!!
apparently there are extremely few single ladies in their middle age because divorce is illegal. you have to find a spinster, a widow, or go with a very young woman never married. is that accurate?
Yes Kevin,that's about right.
Bro I'm right with you. I just want a more free life. Everyone isn't in it for some young women that's going to take over my freedom all over again.I'd love to come help with the rent in that upstairs.
Good morning Chris! I enjoyed the tour. Nice house!! Jim.
altecman21 Thanks Jim, for the money it's great.
I did the same. Was paying 1500 on the beach. Found many girls half my age. Was icing on the cake. Never would happen in the USA.
This was in your most popular videos s I watched it again
Much appreciated Chris.
Mavic panimdim he smashed I& that’s what matters! He’s done!🤣🤣🤣😅
Keep relaxing there it the best for you .! Good luck and best wishis to you .
Good for you mate.
Where us that you found a house so nice and so cheap.
Life will be great.
Hey if we weren't a little crazy we would be boring.

Hello welcome to Philippines Brit and your family.
Thank you! 😃
Hey Cris W, where is this place? I pay 3,500 n dont have a 2nd story as well as privacy? I thought they only do this to foreigners n im a filipino by blood
Hi,it's in Bulacan Manila but not available.
@@ABritinthPhilippines thnx man! Love ur blog. Keep up the good work man..post me if u come accross another one like this in luzon..
Its good ur enjoying philippines..
To all the retired people in the world come and live in thr philippines.
Then it would be like Florida !! uh uh, not good !
Nice content sir
its quiet lowsy I mean to have such places in crowded place better buy a piece of land with pilipina wife in spacious place and build self slowly expansion when money available where you can also have vegetable gardening..well for pensionare Americans or australians european with pinay wife ... just telling . Nice house, I am sorry to hear about your mama and I hope to your sister is doing well.
It is a different scenario to live in Mandaluyong Phils. The rent costs about P15, 000 for a 22 sqm Studio type condo.
Man you can't beat that for 2500 paso thats $120.00 a month US dollars , I need to get over there myself, and that upstairs is huge and I can't see why you don't make upstairs your bedroom, get a a small AC unit a refrigerator and chill out big time .
Oh and do get you one of those fine beautiful philipino honeys.. nice going mate.
***** hi george when you are in cebu and looking for a house try to check the areas in busay or mandaue im renting a house for 9k in busay cebu city with 3 bedrooms and a parking space
lacostales mark Thanks Mark..will do,,i was paying 10k for 1 bedrommed in lapu lapu,at basak
hi george thats abit pricey for 1 bedroom in lapulapu but then again it depends on the loacation lapulapu is getting pricey these days coz of the tourism in that area, however there are still alot of good and cheap places to stay it may take longer for you to commute though but hey its part of the fun...if your in cebu just email me and we can hang out with some of my friends cheers again and thanks for replying to my post.
***** you might Try Bohol its a good location and cheap as well......
how is it like in the low cost housing? i am doing a research paper and due to the pandemic, i cannot go around and asking people in person. if you would be so kind in letting me know. i only have a few questions and i am dropping one now. i would like to know if the second level of your house is usually hotter than the ground level? this would be so much help. thank you!
The second level is a lot hotter than the lower level.
Just started my lufe all over again after that disastrous and hilarious experiences. So I hope you make your retirement meaningful in the Philippines. Because my boss Mr. Muray Hertz loves the Philippines and the Pinoy because he knows how. He rested in Peace there too. He truly love the Philippines.
Hi there,I am very pleased you can laugh about your troubles a leaf I must say I should take out of your book. This is a very old video and I have now moved on,I have a Filipino wife, son and a little girl on the way.Thank you for you kind comment.
@@ABritinthPhilippines you are welcome 😊 and congrsts to your new family member💟! I have a new family member too just arrive 7 weeks ago 😉. Lets live our lives with happiness and lots of laugh🤣🤣🤣❤
wow! you got a great deal for that house! 2500 here in Binondo is just for "bedspacer"..I'm very impressed!
BE KIND Hi,yes I was in the right place at the right time. Thank you.
Wow Chris, what a deal! 2,500 pesos is roughly $58. If only I could pay that little for rent on my place in America, I'd be able to save quite a bit of money. Unfortunately I live in one of the most expensive cities in the world. Thieving bastards :)
SezStyle Hi, that's one of the reasons I left the UK. Things are never going to get better.Thank you.
Hi Gerry, well there is always a bridge to cross, but I always wait until that bridge is there before I try to cross it.Thanks as always.
***** Much as he seems to have a very grounded and thoughtful approach to his new life, our boy Chris is proving to be a bit stubborn on the health insurance issue. We can only wish good health, look both ways before you cross the road and don't get dengue fever etc etc etc.

I want to buy a house in Philippines
A brit in the Philippines, shout out to you my friend thank you for loving our country, new friend here, i want us to be friend , i hope we can support each other. thank you.
Thanks for visiting
if you meet somebody just like the one wearing the yellow shirt. she looks hot.
Mike Anderson Hi Mike, yes her name is Elaine. I think she is cute, however, I don't think she is that old and she has a husband.. Thanks for your comment.
Im so happy that a brit like u love to stay here in the Phil..
Thank you.
But who wound't want live in his own house? If you have kids it's hard to always be on the move.
Thank you I was looking house and lot Godbless you
So what kind of health care do they have for retirees? How do you get medications, oxygen medical supplies etc...
The health care is a bit hit and miss depending what part of the Philippines you live in, however oxygen medical supplies are readily available.
Thanks Chris...looks very comfortable...and very nice,,,maybe some video of your neighborhood..sometime...very interested in your perspective of life there...keep up the good work,,,
jim lawless Hi Jim, thank you, when I am feeling a bit better, I will, however I am aware that Jack has already done a lot of this area and I don;t wish to copy. Thanks again.

kababayan mate,....im subbing nice vids :)
Chris, do you think you'll need more secure digs?
hello,
I have found this youtube film about living cheap. He 's rental cost is 1200 pesos. My question to you would be. Are there other places in the Philippines where you can rent between 1200 and 2000 pesos a month? best regards Gregory
The simple and honest answer is no,unless it's a hut with a hole outside for a toilet, sorry don't mean to be flippant.
Good , I love your integration
Thank you so much.
Thank you good info and good luck
Nice house for 2500! I don't live full time in the Phils, but I do have a house there and have some college students maintain it for me. I pay 3,000 per month and it's about 2/3 the size of your place - well done! Otherwise, about the same - CR and kitchen are similar. I listened to your cost of living video and concur - you can live cheaply for under $500 usd per month -- just be frugal and don't expect to have an American or European lifestyle. I did furnish my little house with a bamboo living room set - bench, two chairs, and a table - for approx. $50. Good luck and please continue to publish your videos.
Scott B Hello Scott, Thanks for your words of support.
I noticed as you were commenting on the young lady that u are not looking for, you panned over to your cleaning lady...

Have the prices gone up much since you made this video? What are the going rates for a place like this in July 2017?
Yes quite a bit,you will be paying between 5-6 thousand pesos.
Nice video. 2500 pesos a month is a very good deal. for the furniture, when you are good and ready, I think you should ask Jack to see which furniture will be suited for you. but yes, I am planning to get a house in the Philippines in the future, I hope I can get to see more of your videos! :-)
marylandman12 Hi there, I hope you can too. thanks for commenting and the best of luck on your adventure.
A Brit in th Philippines Chris Carter thank you mate!!!:-)
wow! you're so lucky to find such a pretty good size appt for a very low price.Since you don't occupy the upstairs, you should get a roommate and charge half of your rent. It will help you with your budget. just a suggestion :) nice vid. thx for sharing
simplypinay 50 Hi there and a very good suggestion too and one I will look in to. Thank you.
+simplypinay 50 It may be a good idea but I wouldn't want to take on the possible disruption of a roommate for 1,250 php a month.
Nice I like it
Thanks for sharing. ..
60 bucks for a place like that, you cant go wrong. You coincidentally just end up in the same neighborhood as Kuya Jack and Ate Myra or were they the ones that pointed you over that direction?
Great information. Thank you for sharing.
I think it’s cool to stay upstairs and have ur furnitures downstairs.
I mean that literally cools you up
Thanks for sharing. Always good to know what you can get for the money. What city do you live in or province? I'm assuming houseing is more in bigger cities. My hoa is $173 a month in the states for a condo.
Mike Dickson Hi Mike, I live in San Jose Del Monte, it's on the outskirts of Manila. The housing on this sub division is very cheap, or at least at the moment. Thanks for your comment.
