@arvelyt2188 DJ is 125-135 lbs. The Muay Thai fighter is the same. Jon Jones is 265. I agree that Jon Jones is the GOAT. But I didn't say DJ was the GOAT in my comment. I said he is one of the greatest to ever do it. And that's just the facts. DJ is a top 10 mixed martial artist of all time. And he is the greatest to ever do it at his weight class. Also this comment is 6 months old and has to do with the mixed style combat. Which i still feel is an incredible idea. What do you think of the mixed style match? I definitely like the idea of seeing more of those in the future.

A beautiful fight between some of the most skilled fighters on the planet. And the respect they have for one another brought a tear to my eye. People are really sleeping on one championship. They have some amazing fighters and an actually respectful atmosphere. UFC is just full of so much pointless drama these days. I love MMA so much. Ever since I started, I've been exposed to so many different cultures, and it's just so cool to see people who come from such different backgrounds test their skill against one another, then come together after the fight. One of the best feelings I've ever experienced for sure.

I liked this fight but the result was obvious imo. Rodtang didn't really put people out in the first round and you need at least a year of hardcore wrestling/grappling training to even have a chance to survive the second round (and that's assuming they have very good grappling talent, I would say more years for people who don't) against someone like DJ.

I believe he is a striped brown belt. That said, he's an elite professional in fighting, and the belt is merely a measure of his proven technical training within BJJ. Black belts take time to get, no matter how good you are in reality. Clearly he is far, far better than an average brown belt, but he has to prove himself in grappling to earn it.

You cannot overstate how big brain DJ's finish setup is. He hit Rodtang with a body kick, which is a high scoring move in Muay Thai. It immediately got Rodtang back in pure MT mode for a split second and he countered with his signature hook.
Hooks aren't as safe when the sport allows you to get in on the hips of a guy. Check 9:16 - it's a picture perfect pivoted hook which exposes the side of the hip.
DJ beat Rodtang by using his strengths against him.

What we learn here is that MMA is overall superior to kickboxing/Muay Thai in a real life 1v1 fight situation. Grappling/Wrestling skills with an advanced ground game (BJJ for example) can shut down any top striker in a real fight. MMA certainly is the closest thing to a street fight with just the right amount of rules in place.
