  • In this episode, I'm meeting up with Brad Hole from the Hobie Fishing Team to chase my first cutthroat trout on Lake Sammamish near Seattle. These little fish may be small, but they put up a heck of a fight on light tackle. We also take a break from the cutties to try and knock yellow perch off my list.
    Comment below and tell me about other fish I should target in Washington, or ask me any questions you have! I reply to every comment on my channel.
    Watch to the end for a preview of the final episode of my west coast series!

    Welcome to the PNW. I have lived a total of about 5 years out here and had no idea there were cut throats in Lake Sammamish. Awesome. I caught west slope cuts in Montana, my favorite and best day of fishing. I have recently become very interested in kayak fishing and I found your channel while I was searching for information. Hope your luck keeps up and the fishing is epic. Keep posting.

    If, you ever come back to Washington you got to check out mason County. I'm born, and raised here. We're the county of 1000 lakes, and it's extremely diverse. Huge rainbows, cut throats, and steelhead. On top of almost every salmon you can think of

      +Josh Tenney no, they are coastal cutthroats, which don't have the distinct color on their faces. There's about a dozen types of cutthroat trout.

      +Ethan Ray the rod I was trolling with was a custom built by John Knox, who you'll meet next episode. Lamiglas makes great rods for these types of fish, I've been using theirs lately.

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  6 років тому +1

      +Ethan Ray here's what Brad said to tell you: Daiwa and Lamiglas both make Kokanee rods that are 8 ft. Diawa Sealine reel will be good for 5 colors if 18 lb leadcore.

    Hi Robert. What kind of gear are you wearing? Is that a dry suit?

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  6 років тому +1

      +David Meeks nope, those are the Sidewinder Bibs from NRS. Chest waders with a waterproof relief zipper so you can pee without getting undressed. You'll see me wearing them a lot in my videos. I do also have a dry suit for really cold water with sketchy conditions like offshore or fast moving rivers. The blue hoodie is the NRS lightweight hoodie and the rain jacket is the NRS High Tide. The shoes are the NRS Velocity water shoes. If you can't tell, I'm a big fan of NRS gear haha.

    Those trout look more like coastal cutthroat,don't have the red coloring like we see in Idaho?

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  6 років тому +1

      +idahomike100 we were only about 20 minutes inland of Seattle, so those fish do migrate to the salt.
