I have the exact 7.1.4 setup as mentioned in the video. Movie experience is amazing, and music experience is even more next level if you have atmos music app like Apple Music. Not all atmos songs come with good audio engineering but once you find a good one, it’s like putting on a 3d glasses for your ear for the first time.

I had ARC, Sub Gen 3 and two One SLs. I pre-ordered a pair of ERA 300s. Wow! What an upgrade!
I had some friends from the UK visit on Saturday (I now live in FL) and demonstrated the setup with the opening scene of John Wick 4 on 4K Blu-Ray. They were totally blown away and said it was like being in the Cinema.
I totally agree with your recommendations. Having the One SLs as the rear surrounds is great. If you can afford to upgrade to the ERA 300s, you will have a stunning system that will not disappoint.

    DAD REVIEW:
    Best overall- SONOS ARC+Sub Gen3+Era300.
    Young Children- ARC+Sub Mini.
    Great, full-bodied sound- ARC+Sub Mini+Era 300.
I have all options above, but find the B option best until my youngest is sleeping better in thier room farther away from our living room.

Upgraded my Bean2 to Arc with sun mini and two ones. And it makes a noticeable difference. Next upgrade is to two era300’s and then sun gen 3 later. Great that you can move towards the setup you want slowly since the existing hardware can be used elsewhere.

Hi guys if anyone doesn't know you can add an EXTRA pair of sonos speakers for left and right channels with your arc in your home theater setup, make it a stereo pair and then group them together with your home theater setup. I have the arc, 2 fives (left and right), 2 sub gen 3, and 2 era 300 for rears... it makes the front stage come alive with crisp dialogue and you can hear every single action clearly.... enjoy!!!!

I would love to upgrade my surrounds from One SLs to Era 300's. However my space is probably not the best or big enough for the Era 300's to fulfil their potential so the £900 price tag (even using a 15% discount) just seems too much at the moment.

Arc, Era 300, and 2 subs is only 7.1.4, not 7.2.4. The subs have the same crossover point to the Arc so they are both playing the same sound channel therefore it doesn't count toward the number of

I have a question, I took the leap and got the Arc + 2x Era 300s + 2x Sub Gen 3s… cool $3700 but I swear watching movies and listening to music (atmos on Apple Music specifically) for the first time with this setup was like seeing for the first time time. Any time I have people over now, the first thing I do is plop them on the couch and play Save Your Tears in atmos and it BLOWS THIER MINDS… if you’re debating I promise it is well worth it. May be my single best purchase in years. But, I want to know whether or not I can get a pair of Era 100s, Fives, or One SLs and place them in the front left and right next to my Arc… I know they won’t be linked for surround but I would probably only use them for music anyway. Has anyone tried this?

Would the Era300's be ok if not placed right behind the corners of the sofa? The sidewalls are around 0.5m from the sides of the sofa which floats in the middle of the space and I don't love the idea of tripping over cords... I also have in ceiling speakers from a previous setup placed a bit further back from the sofa and considered getting an amp to power these but not sure if that would be overkill... thank you for your thoughts!

Ended going with the Arc, dual Gen 3 subs, and Fives as rear just after X-mas. Purchased everything before I knew the release dates of the Era 100/300. This set-up sound fantastic and noticeably better by several levels compared to my Nakamichi 7.2.4. My cable provider only has Dolby 5.1, don't listen to spatial audio, and probably about 30%-35% of the steaming shows I watch is in Atmos. I can wait to see if Sonos comes out with an Arc Gen 2, Era 500 speakers, or update the app to add more speakers to the home theater group to compete with the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 system.

Just not sure by how much if most of my listening is in 5.1 or if my streaming content isn't big explosion action/sci-fi shows (more dialogue driven drama/rom-com/comedy/news/sports/HGTV/Food network/etc...).

Fantastic videos! Very clear, informative and to the point. Very helpful.
I was hoping you could provide some input/guidance as to what you’d recommend in my particular space.
I just built a golf sim/theatre in the basement. I have 2 built in ceiling speakers from before. They are right over the golf hitting area, and about right in the middle between the screen and the couch where we sit for movies.
I was thinking of using a Sonos Amp to power the ceiling speakers. Then get an Arc Surround system (package is Arc, Sub Gen 3 and 2 Era 100s). Then for movies I can group the surround system with the in- ceiling speakers (via amp). Wondering if that would work or not. Wondering if it’s overkill and can avoid buying perhaps the Era 100s. My concern is that the in ceiling speakers are decent quality but not great. And also are ahead of where we sit, so would not provide the same effect as rear speakers.
Sorry for the very long winded question, but I’m not very knowledgable about the various 5.1 vs 7.1 vs 9.1 etc setups, and how my idea would fit into those setups.
I really appreciate any advice you have.
Thanks and continue the great work on the videos!

Cavity on the Sub Gen 3 should be facing outwards, not side to side, specifically for 2 sub setup. In the 2 sub config you have, likely a lot of sub frequency will be getting cancelled out between the 2 subs leading to sub-standard (no pun intended) performance. Re-orient the subs so the cavities are parallel (or both at the rear again with both cavities parallel).

We've had a collective head scratch here at HQ and the only workaround we could find would be to hook up your Arc to your TV via optical, then you would be able to plug headphones in to your TV's 3.5mm jack. However, this would disable all Dolby Atmos content through your sonos setup. However, there's no guarantee that this will work on your model of TV. There have been rumours of Sonos Headphones for a few years now so that could be the answer to your problem if they ever release. Sorry we couldn't be more help, but let us know if you find a work around!

How would the E300 sound if they were on end tables on each side of the sofa?

    • @mrgold3591
      @mrgold3591 Рік тому +1

You can only add two similar speakers for rear surrounds into the Arc+Sub home theater group. You can group together up to 32 speakers; but, they will not be part of the Arc/sub/surround pairing and can't do IOS trueplay tuning outside that group. You would be adding additional speakers the exact same way you would add speaker(s) in Mono or stereo pairs when doing whole house audio. You might get some echo/reverb depending on the added speakers and placement in the same room.

@@fearofwar Thanks! Yeah I've heard great things about the G3, especially the higher brightness levels in comparison to the C2/3. Re: Sonos, I've gone for the arc, two era 100s and a sub gen 3 so hoping this sounds great for music and movies. Do you find the 100s sufficient as surrounds? • @techtime2922

Lmao I have two arcs, three beam gen 2’s, 8 one sl’s, one gen 3, and 3 sub minis.
I wish I could get the era 300’s for at least one of the arcs! One is on a 65” C3 Oled with a sub mini in a small room, one is on an 85” X90K with the gen 3 in a big room. Id probably put the Era’s in the small room because brand new Oled, and the Arc sounds better in the small room than the big room! You honestly barely need surrounds!
Tbh though I even still love my 55” B9 Oled with the Beam Gen 2 Sub mini and one sl’s, that’s where my gaming pc and ps5 both are! And my 75” X900H in my bedroom with the same setup as the B9 Oled! They all sound amazing!
My guest room is a 65” NU8000, a very bright but edge lit (still has rudimentary edge lit local dimming) samsung tv from 2018, with hdmi 2.1 features, but it doesn’t have full hdmi 2.1 because if you remember correctly, my B9 and the C9?Oled were the first devices to actually come with HDMI 2.1! There were no inputs for it! Haha. The NU8000 supports freesync and also was the first tv to have game motion plus, which is motion interpolation that works in game mode with only 30ms input lag. It was pretty dope when all I had was a ps4! I beat Days Gone and TLOU 2 with that feature on that tv since they were only 30 fps and it looked and played great! On that tv is just a beam, which is more than enough for any of my guests as none of them use anything but tv speakers, or if I end up in there for a few nights I think I can survive on just the beam for a week! Haha.
Now as far as the B9, I remember people asking all over the internet “I’ve heard it doesn’t have HDMI 2.1 like the C9! Does it!?” On rtings and other youtubers video comments and redddddit. But the funny thing is it literally said GSYNC COMPATIBLE in HUGE letters on the box, lmao! It literally supported a feature for rtx 30 series graphics cards that didn’t even come out for a full ONE YEAR AND 5 MONTHS! Like wow now that is future proof! Even when I bought the tv in March 2020 literally 11 months after it released, there was STILL no hdmi 2.1 devices for another 6 months! But everyone knew hdmi 2.1 and VRR was coming in 2020 with the PS5 and rtx 30 series, so man LG was really forward thinking on that 9th gen of Oleds and Im so glad to this day that I bought it! B9 is 767 nits peak brightness and still can hold up to the C3 fairly well to this day. Yes the C3 looks a BIT better, but the difference is not big at all for being both a C model vs a B model, but also being 4 years newer! My PC looks AMAZING, one of the first few to build the all white Lian Li 011D mini build. Still rocking the 10700K and 3070 and man it still slays any game on 1440p and even 4k to this day! 4 year old gaming pc and tv and it still rocks and has all the newest greatest technology, such as Gsync from full 48gbps HDMI 2.1, 120hz, allm, eARC, dolby vision and atmos, nobody would guess they were using a 4 year old gaming pc and tv if they didn’t know!
Man I love tv’s and sonos speakers! Haha

I can’t decide what I should upgrade first in the office though, the B9, the 10700K, or the 3070. Im really thinking 10700K! I already have a new motherboard for a 14700K but Im on the fence. It still works great! But I don’t want some 5,000 nit oled and 5th gen RTX and 15th gen Intel to drop all st once and then feel the need to upgrade it all lol. Really I think the B9 will still be the last to be upgraded and I could see myself using the B9 for another 3-5 years, 10700K one more year, 3070 1-2 more years

I personally find that the sound is much cleaner with just the Sub Mini. It gives you that extra lower end you’re missing with the Arc alone but when the Sub Mini was added it doesn’t drown out the lows and mids. I’m getting the mini to add to my Arc and One SLs in a small to medium living room!
