Caleb I have the arc, 2 300s, and a sub gen 3. I had Ones before and the Atmos effect is vastly improved with the 300s. Also I just picked up a 65" S95B with the web cam and a 5 year warranty on clearance for $829. Couldn't pass that deal. I now have the best home theater set up I can imagine for the money I have invested.
Wow sounds like sonos finally accomplished that home theater experience without bundled speaker wire everwhere. Been waiting for a really full depth review of the whole system together. Thank you!
How does this compare against Sony HT-A9 with SW5 Sub, given the comparable price point? Leaving the flexibility aside with focus purely on gaming, music and content consumption.
After the first set of reviews, I too picked up 2 of the Era 300's to replace a pair of the One SL. Having only 1 of the sub's has not limited my enjoyment of the Arc + Era 300 + sub. Decent review and a nice refresher. The One SL's are now in another room for whole home audio.
@@heibaimao The ones didnt provide enough separation. They are placed directly behind the couch and my wife would hear one speaker and I would hear the other. The Era 300's are able to expand the sound stage so that we now both hear a much larger sound environment.
lol! I too just very recently got one, a second and then the mini subwoofer so now have a stereo setup for music and am totally, completely happy with it. Got the unlimited streaming service that also has Atmos going on. Not interested in the home theatre things, just for music in a variety of genres. Sounds. So. Good. No ear fatigue after hours. To be sure, I have a great space for these... very open and reflective and wide separation of the speakers. Definitely pricey, but I have no regrets.
So I’ve had a play bar, 2 play III (for surround), and a sub, since 2016. I splurged and added a pair of Dynaudio Special Forties (up front), and an REL sub, run by a Peachtree Nova 300. This non Sonos stuff I control with a Sonos port. I put just this equipment in a separate “room” on the Sonos app. When we jam out, I can listen to Hi-Res (from Amazon or Tidal) and it sounds great (I do not have a separate stereo room so Audio only is a separate listening experience than watching TV.). This was the setup until last week. I’ve replaced the play bar with an Arc (noticeable improvement). Now, when we are jamming, sometimes I turn the Arc/play bar/Sonos sub room volume up a little(just a little). It just kind of fills the room up a little more with sound. Next I am going to replace the Play III’s with ERA 300’s and maybe turn that room volume up a bit more,, only if it can compete a little better with the Dynaudio’s! (All the Sonos stuff would then be Hi-Res). Has anyone else tried to improve their Sonos, audio only listening experience? (Sorry so long a post but a lot of explanation needed)
Hey Caleb! I would really like a comparison between the Era 300 and Era 100/One for back surround speakers. Also a comparison between this expensive surround sonos system, with a cheaper one, Beam+Era 100s+Sonos mini. That would be a great video in my opinion.
This review has talked me into it. I have the Arc, two subs and two ones for surrounds. I think I’ll go out and get the 300’s. But maybe I’ll wait for a little sale. 😂
Unfortunately, what I’m hearing from Sonos enthusiasts is that it will be awhile before we see a sale on these. I’m not sure we’ve yet seen a sale on the Sub Mini which released last fall. At least if you’re interested, make sure to purchase as a set. There’s about a $50 savings that way. It’s not a lot, but every little bit helps. :)
As a Sonos Eco System owner of: Arc,Sub,Sonos1x2. I have something to say. The app actually isn't easy to use for non techy owners. I had the system for a year now, and I realized their major flaw... That is the connectivity. This is their best feature; yet it can be the owner's nightmare. Let me explain. The entire system is integrated into the app via your WI-FI network. Router shoots out new Internet Protocol (IP) Address along with DNS, DHCP when it restarts. Let's say that your area had a local power or internet outage or you accidentally plugged out the ARC, or Sub, or anything connected to your Home Theatre System... Your nightmare begins. You now have a NEW Internet Protocol Address. The App won't detect your systems since your DHCP has been resetted. Be prepared to uninstall the App, factory reset the system, reconnect the installation that takes around 30min - 45 min to configure. You try to reconnect your system into the app, and now comes hell. it will not detect your surrounds or fail to connect wi-fi. WTF is going on? Prepare to unlink the TV WI-FI and retype the new password. Restart the phone, and disconnect from wi-fi, and reconnect by typing new password. Now you're ready. But wait... every saved data on your eco system is now gone. Alexa needs to be reconfigured too. It is hell. For price of the entire eco system, go with Sennheiser Ambeo Max. Seriously. Easier to use, and better quality of sound for same price of entire eco 5.1 set. The Pro of this system is that the Atmos is amazing; however, for the amount of problem it can encounter if your internet is down, it is not worth it. Wired Connection is necessary as an option for people that don't want internet system.
300s are the best upgrade I’ve made to the Sonos surround system. I didn’t like the Ones at all bc the sound quality was poor compared to the arc and the difference stood out to my ears a lot which threw off the immersion.
I use Sonos Fives for surrounds with a Playbar and I can’t be happier with the surroind. The fidelity is movie theatre quality IMO. I’ll switch the Playbar for the arc soon and I think I’ll be totally happy.
If you want the full experience for a home theater setup then no it’s not overkill. The 100’s don’t have the upfiring atmos speakers. If you’re just streaming shows and occasional movie then yes it’s a bit overkill
Im about to buy this sonos setup now in 2024. 2 x Era 300, Sonos Arc , Sonos Sub for my TV setup. I hear there might be a new arc coming but I think this setup will be good enough for music and movies/tv in my rather small living room.
I bought the 100's with some stands that could accommodate both 100 and 300. I really liked the 100 but after watching this video....I had to hear the 300's. Long story short....(in my girls words) bye 100's!! They really are amazing!! Music in Atmos is crazy wicked!! So glad I watched this video and took your recommendation!! I have the Arc mini sub (apartment) and 300's!! Love your videos and recommendations
The Eras are so Overawesome that one cannot stop to wonder how good would be to have them as front r&l and a beam or ray just as center channel, i bet the eras would outstand the Arc by a FAAAR margin
Would u recommend era 300s at ear level or 12 inches over ear level? I currently have them wall mounted about 12 inches above ear level due to couch against the wall. Should I leave them or move them down to ear level?
Boom by Tiesto has seriously got to be one of the best Dolby Atmos songs I’ve listened too. Didn’t see what all the fuss was about, then I listened to that and it was made for it.

Good day,,, I would like to know if this Sonos Sub is worth pairing with a Sonos Era 300,,, or would it be better to buy 2 Era 300 speakers? I appreciate your answer
Don’t you also need a TV with Earc output if you want the full throttle Dolby Atmos sound? Unless you’re just going to rely on Tv apps it’s the lack of inputs that puts me off a sound bar setup so I prefer my proper AV receiver setup

I am building a garage/mancave. Want to put an 85" TV in it and have a great place to watch sports. I also like to rock the place when listening to music. Love loud music. Is this my best choice?
Thank you for this video. It convinced me to upgrade and my 2 new Era 300’s arrived today. I’m using these as surrounds with an Arc and Sub gen 3. Huge improvement on the 2 Play 1’s I was using as surrounds. Thanks for the advice 👍
@@rootedrotor525 really impressed with the performance, especially on Dolby atmos films (as you’d expect). They sound great when playing different formats etc too 👍 and Dolby atmos music as well
I hesitate a lot between this sonos full setup (arc / 2 era 300 / sub) or the sennheiser ambeo max. I didn't listen the 2 systems yet. Any recommandation ?
How would you position the era 300s as surrounds with the full arc and sub set up? Facing you or pointed towards the front or tilted slightly inwards? Is there a guide on this?
FYI you should point the ERA 300s straight at the TV / not "aimed" at you on the couch for surrounds / the front driver is disabled in surround mode and it can't bounce sound as much with it's left and right drivers when it's pointed in at you / they are different from all other surrounds in this way
So you CAN use those speakers for both Dolby Atmos on the TV with Arc and for normal stereo speakers for music? Do you need to switch their purpose every single time or do they know automatically if they are used via the Arc or as "normal" Multiroom-Music-Boxes? For only rear speakers for the Arc I find them a little too expensive but when they can also substitute Stereo speakers in my living room the price would fit better :)
Can you add two Sonos speakers to function as a front left and right channel paired with the Arc? And then add another pair for rear left and right? Curious about how that would sound.
Hi Caleb, Since you had experience in person the latest sound bars like Nakamichi Dragon and Sennheiser Ambeo, i was wondering which one would you personally buy and own between the two?
Really enjoyed your Sonos Eras 300 review today. Already am vested in Sonos Audio ecosystem, including it's cool App. Currently have 21 Sonos Speakers in various paired configuration sprinkled throughout the house. So no matter where you walk you upstairs or down, you'll get a constant wave of seamless sound greeting so no matter what's playing like the house music or if a 4K Blu-ray movie is playing, than you'll here that movie track too. During you presentation the Sonos Eras 300's in Stereo Mode by you big screen TV, noticed you have some ultra cool flat black looking speaker stands where you've mounted the Sonos Eras 300 speakers. Who is the vendor and what is the model number for that set of Speaker Stands?
Hey Caleb. I’d love it if you could do an entire review of the arc with dual gen3 subs and the era 300. I found the best sound will come with subs in diagonal configuration and the one on the back at least 20 inches away from the corner so it gets a less boomy sound but overall sounds badass throughout the entire room even with it being next to the open kitchen. The era 300’s slightly pointed inward towards the left/right channels of the arc rather than the wall which gives you a better sound bubble. I wedged the back of the arc 1 inch due to the 12 degree angle on the height channels so it reaches to 7.8 feet much better sounding. And settings for the arc eq are bass +1 and treble +3 which gave me a flat look in the 20-20k sweep I did switch on speak enhancement as well to achieve this and dual sub is +6 to get 8-10db on top of the 250hz and above. I noticed the difference from having them below the arc to each side they did give out more output 25-55hz evenly through 65hz buy diagonal the 60hz is a bit heightened but not really an issue once in use as it is evenly spread through the room. Surrounds settings are tv +4 music +3 and full, height settings +8 due to my 9 feet ceiling and arc at 6 feet exactly from the ceiling (balanced volumes this way. Maybe you could replicate this and find it even a bit better than you did previously.
I have the Sonos Arc, 2 Era 300s, and a Sonos Sub (Gen 3) the sound quality is unbelievable!!!!! 🤩 The spatial audio quality doesn’t cease to amaze me because the Dolby Atmos is incredible! Does anyone personally know how much of a difference is having a second subwoofer 🔊 added to this system?
Do you mean mainly with movies? Because I just got two of the 300s and they are my rear speakers along with the Sonos arc and two subwoofers I don’t really hear too much out of them with music as a part of my home theater so I wonder if the difference you will see is mainly with movies, right?
@@rootedrotor525 sounds amazing! The surround sound system never ceases to amaze me. I’ve found myself hearing new things in movies that I’ve previously watched. Whenever I use the system to listen to music I love the spatial audio. 10/10 would highly recommend these to anyone.
I happen to have one Arc and one Era 300. Should I flesh out the full surround sound package?! If so, could I get away with getting a Sub Mini to save some money?
this, the Nakamichi and Sony HT A9, why is nobody doing a direct ABX blind testing with these cable less plug and play surround system? is it because even with all said they arent that easy to switch quickly between?
Just listened to that oscar peterson trio album you mentioned in the video I have to say it sounds fan-fking-tastic on a pair of these I've never loved jazz or classical music but atmos with those genres kills me man.
So, the sonos full home theater surround setup will cost around $2,500, for the Arc, two 300 and a sub. How does this compare to the Sony HT-A9 when using their bigger sub? If I recall, all the reviews for the sony were also "game changing", and they seem to have dropped in price to be slightly less than all the components needed for the sonos set up. Honestly, if I am recalling the reviews I've seen for both, the HT-A9 with the more powerful sub actually had more glowing reviews than what I've seen for the sonos. I'd love to know your thoughts.
I would be interested if they let your pair 5 of these together with a sub for a 5.1.5 channel system, with a central hub for HDMI connectivity (this would probably beat the HT-A9, and some AVR set ups).
I'm a classical music listener. I ditched my old "HiFi" and after trying one 5, then one five with a subwoofer, I would up with just two Era 100s six feet apart on my bookcase. I'm quite pleased with the sound I got. But am I missing a next level, if I broke the piggy bank and went to two 300s?
Current deals are awesome, grabbed the set with a pair of Era300s, Sub, Arc for under $2100 before tax to go with my Hisense 100U8K. Can’t wait to try out movies and games in Atmos. Does wall mounting the Era 300 affect sound quality? I am trying to avoid the stand since my kids are young and am afraid of the stand/speaker falling on them.
Nice enthusiastic review!! I am just still wondering how the surrounds are with non-Atmos content on TV, cause there still is more 5.1 or stereo than Atmos. Also noticed that you turned your surrounds with the front to MLP. What was your opinion compared to pointing them towards the tv?
Sound coming from the center is entirely dependent on seating position and angle of the speakers. With the way movies are mixed these days, even with a center channel dedicated you practically still have to put on either "dialogue mode" or subtitles.
I'm LOW tech and at this time, not interested in surround. But have older amp & likely buying a IFI Zen Blue for wireless, want the best sound and versatility of blue-tooth wireless. Strongly considering the ERA 100 ... sound quality of era 100 is step up from play 1 correct ?
How do you rate it compared to the Nakamichi Dragon? I can't wait to see your full Dragon review, and how you compare it to other top Surround Bar Systems!
Any rumors of Sonos updating the Arc with a version 2, having an Era 500 in the works, or updating the smartphone app to add more speakers to compete with the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6?
I’m wondering this. Haven’t loved the idea of purchasing a 3 year old sound bar - especially given the massive improvement Sonos made from Gen1 Beam to Gen2. Given the timeframe that Beam G2 came out, seems like we’re getting close to due for an Arc Gen2… Seriously considering adding the Era 300s to our Beam Gen2 and then upgrading to Arc2 when it comes out. Surely by next year?

Also I just picked up a 65" S95B with the web cam and a 5 year warranty on clearance for $829. Couldn't pass that deal. I now have the best home theater set up I can imagine for the money I have invested.
Where did you find the s95b?
@@techsamurai11 at Sam's Club they had 4 at the time. I bought 2 one for my dad and one for me.
@@5point7goat94 Brand new? Good move!
@@techsamurai11 Yep brand new. Thanks
Is it ok to calibrate Sonos Arc, asub and 300s with an Android phone? Thanks 🙌
Which stands do you have them on? Are those adjustable in height?
After the first set of reviews, I too picked up 2 of the Era 300's to replace a pair of the One SL. Having only 1 of the sub's has not limited my enjoyment of the Arc + Era 300 + sub. Decent review and a nice refresher. The One SL's are now in another room for whole home audio.
This is exactly my plan for the coming year :D I have 2 Ones +arc+sub. will move ones to other rooms and replace them with era 300 :)
How much improvement replacing the 2 ones with era 300s?
@@heibaimao The ones didnt provide enough separation. They are placed directly behind the couch and my wife would hear one speaker and I would hear the other. The Era 300's are able to expand the sound stage so that we now both hear a much larger sound environment.
Plan on doing the same
@@EricJLarsen did u place the 300s in the same spot as the ones?
Doubting myself too to either get the 300 or 100 as back surround speakers
I want with that setup as soon as the era 300's were available. The audio is about as god as it can get
This review has talked me into it. I have the Arc, two subs and two ones for surrounds. I think I’ll go out and get the 300’s. But maybe I’ll wait for a little sale. 😂
Your Ones should get you a 15% upgraded discount each.
I have the same setup on my screen, but that seems a bit wasteful to me still yet 😬 Maybe I can sell the two Ones to offset the pain ...
They are on sale now for Father’s Day
The sonos upgrade offer actually works for buying a pair. So you can save 50 BUCKS in a pair, then an extra 15% for using one upgrade credit
Which one is better!
This system or Sony ht a9 with sw5?
I use Sonos Fives for surrounds with a Playbar and I can’t be happier with the surroind. The fidelity is movie theatre quality IMO. I’ll switch the Playbar for the arc soon and I think I’ll be totally happy.
Caleb, would love to see a Era 100 review paired with a turntable.
Sonos Eras 100 with the Mini Sub plus Arc is an incredible setup as well. The Eras 300 as surround sound speakers I think is overkill.
If you want the full experience for a home theater setup then no it’s not overkill. The 100’s don’t have the upfiring atmos speakers. If you’re just streaming shows and occasional movie then yes it’s a bit overkill
If you want to experience what atmos can really offer, get two sonos eras 300 as surrounds
Based on room size it isn't.
What about if you’re want to play music?
So tell me: should I replace my four Bowers & Wilkins M-1’s and PV1D subwoofer? 😱💕
I currently have two Sonos ones as my rear surrounds. They’re only used for this and not music. Worth the upgrade you think?
The Eras are so Overawesome that one cannot stop to wonder how good would be to have them as front r&l and a beam or ray just as center channel, i bet the eras would outstand the Arc by a FAAAR margin
sound recalling my 'audition' memory lol, it was quite distinct from se215 back then, and now
4 x Era 300s would be a dream but holy toledo that's expensive
Is there a limit of these in 1 room , like 4 or 6 and 4 subs?
Welcher sub hat mehr bass der sonos oder der klipsch ? Bei 7:38 ?
will these connect to the beam?
Would u recommend era 300s at ear level or 12 inches over ear level? I currently have them wall mounted about 12 inches above ear level due to couch against the wall. Should I leave them or move them down to ear level?
how would you say the home theater setup with the Era 300 compares to the sony HT a9 system?
Love to see this with new Sonos arc ultra ,with era300 . looking forward now in mid October
Boom by Tiesto has seriously got to be one of the best Dolby Atmos songs I’ve listened too. Didn’t see what all the fuss was about, then I listened to that and it was made for it.
How about 4X Era 300 and 2X Sonos Sub ? Will that work ?
I have been using the complete home theatre system with the Arc since launch. This is the truth!!!!!
Since I always come back for every review to your channel it seems not seems fair to review the channel.
One word
AMAZING ❤
You are so easy to listen to, amazing thx a lot for all your effort, keep up the great work! 🤗
Which is best 7.1 home theatre or Sonos arc with era 300 and subwoofer?
What do you think when compared to a pair of Sonos fives? Which do you think is a better purchase?
This set up is what I was hoping to see in a review!
Between the 2 300s or arc with Sub, which one would you pick?
Best review by far of the era 300. Most reviews are all the same not yours great reviews.
I've been looking to get the Era 300s to complete the setup. Very tempting now with this review.
Sonos is the best sounding home audio period. If you have decent hearing no trauma to head or if you got that drummers ear get sonos people. I have 2 sonos moves theyre like 3 years old but they still bangin !
I have the arc and two Ones as surrounds. Would you suggest upgrading the Ones to 300s or adding a sub? Thanks
How are you liking them?
@@rootedrotor525 really impressed with the performance, especially on Dolby atmos films (as you’d expect). They sound great when playing different formats etc too 👍 and Dolby atmos music as well
I hesitate a lot between this sonos full setup (arc / 2 era 300 / sub) or the sennheiser ambeo max. I didn't listen the 2 systems yet. Any recommandation ?
How would you position the era 300s as surrounds with the full arc and sub set up? Facing you or pointed towards the front or tilted slightly inwards? Is there a guide on this?
FYI you should point the ERA 300s straight at the TV / not "aimed" at you on the couch for surrounds / the front driver is disabled in surround mode and it can't bounce sound as much with it's left and right drivers when it's pointed in at you / they are different from all other surrounds in this way
Would you put the era 300s behind you or still in front of you beside the Arc?
So you CAN use those speakers for both Dolby Atmos on the TV with Arc and for normal stereo speakers for music? Do you need to switch their purpose every single time or do they know automatically if they are used via the Arc or as "normal" Multiroom-Music-Boxes? For only rear speakers for the Arc I find them a little too expensive but when they can also substitute Stereo speakers in my living room the price would fit better :)
Hi how does this compare to the Sony HT-A9 system?
Can you add two Sonos speakers to function as a front left and right channel paired with the Arc? And then add another pair for rear left and right? Curious about how that would sound.
How would;d they compare to two SONOS Five speakers? Are these an upgrade for a surround sound system if using the fives?
Hey man, from your point of view you get better sound from a pair of era 300 then a pair of play 5? I also gave a sub and a soundbar.
Thank you!
Hi Caleb,
Since you had experience in person the latest sound bars like Nakamichi Dragon and Sennheiser Ambeo, i was wondering which one would you personally buy and own between the two?
I'd love to know about the stands as well!
21 of the Sonos speakers?! How difficult is that to set up with the app? So far everything has been extremely easy
How does it compare to Sony HT-A9 (combined with a Sony TV)?
Do you have any thoughts about how this setup compares to the Sony HT-a9 system with the sub?
Or HT500-7000
So I have 2 Sonos 5’s as rears. Are the 300s a better set up?
So is this a substitute for the soundbar itself?
I have the Sonos Arc, 2 Era 300s, and a Sonos Sub (Gen 3) the sound quality is unbelievable!!!!! 🤩
The spatial audio quality doesn’t cease to amaze me because the Dolby Atmos is incredible!
How does music sound with your setup? I'm looking for a quality move experience but also something I can use for music.
@@TheStealthDawg I just read this message. I meant in general if you’re able to to notice a big difference with the additional subwoofer? 🔊
@@rootedrotor525 sounds amazing! The surround sound system never ceases to amaze me. I’ve found myself hearing new things in movies that I’ve previously watched. Whenever I use the system to listen to music I love the spatial audio. 10/10 would highly recommend these to anyone.
Thank you@@xLOVExGODx
My Era 300 does not offer auto trueplay. Speaker is not disabled. Not sure what difference is :(
I wonder how it compares to the Sony HT A9
I happen to have one Arc and one Era 300.
Would u prefer a full sonos home theatre system of the nakamichi dragon setup?
Just listened to that oscar peterson trio album you mentioned in the video I have to say it sounds fan-fking-tastic on a pair of these I've never loved jazz or classical music but atmos with those genres kills me man.
Please tell me.. Era 300 or Move 2 , or Bose HS500 ?
I've got the Arc and the big sub with play ones for rears. Would it make sense to get a pair of Era's to replace the One's? Or is that overkill?
Hey Caleb, any idea when will you be reviewing the Nakamichi Dragon? Thanks
Technically & subjectively this sounds like best atmos system out there for that money. I would have loved to hear comparison with sony hta9 system.
Sound coming from the center is entirely dependent on seating position and angle of the speakers. With the way movies are mixed these days, even with a center channel dedicated you practically still have to put on either "dialogue mode" or subtitles.
How does this compare to the Sony ht-a9?
lol
I'm LOW tech and at this time, not interested in surround. But have older amp & likely buying a IFI Zen Blue for wireless, want the best sound and versatility of blue-tooth wireless. Strongly considering the ERA 100 ... sound quality of era 100 is step up from play 1 correct ?
How do you rate it compared to the Nakamichi Dragon? I can't wait to see your full Dragon review, and how you compare it to other top Surround Bar Systems!
Hi caleb. If money is not an issue.. HT-A9+ sub or Arc+2 nos Era 300+ 1 sub?
Where do you put the speakers behind or in front of TV
Surely by next year?
are 2 era 300s paired, with no other speakers or soundbars, capable of spatial audio? or only stereo
