I love how you present a condensed version of your podcast on UA-cam, highlighting the key points of sometimes hours long podcasts. Thanks for all you do!
Summary: 1. Avoid touching your eyes or face after shaking hands 2. Get enough quality sleep 3. Get good nutrition 4. Regulate/manage prolonged, chronic stress 5. Use very short stress events during exercise to stimulate your immune system 6. Maintain your gut microbiome health (include fermented foods) 7. Nasal breathing: Breathe through your nose not your mouth 8. Get exercise (up to 60 minutes per day) moderately and consistently 9. Have carbs after exercise (but limit at other times) to reduce inflammation 10. Heat exposure: use a sauna!
Thank you. This episode is concise yet highly insightful, as it effectively provides a clear rationale for why I caught the flu after my half marathon. Additionally, it offers some very practical methods to address the issue. I appreciate it!❤
I did all these things, but still got the flu before Christmas and 3 weeks later in still ill! I sauna daily, cold plunge too, eat organic, exercise daily,(cycle or walk) take vitamin d and k2, eat a lot of citrus. I also eat for my microbiom (sauerkraut, kombuncha, kefir). But i do work in several different schools and i sucombed 😢.
Chelated Magnesium plus melatonin fast release at bedtime and slow release to help you stay asleep (start at a low dose and increase gradually until you feel you are resting well but not high enough that you feel groggy the next morning), exercise with a brisk walk every day so you are physically tired ❤.

All my readings, yes. Just most studies have neen done on dry saunas being around the longest... Steam actually trumps over dry for respiratory health/recovery of chest, nasal issues.
So I’m considering getting on the treadmill for 30 min as I’m fighting a head cold. To get things moving. Is that a bad idea or good idea? Just light walking? And then hot shower. Food. Vit C etc and back to sleep
While from 1:42 onward the video is good, the "How Colds are Spread" section contains a serious omission. To say that hand washing is the primary way to avoid catching the cold, flu, and other respiratory viruses indicates a naïveté on this channel's part. Watch the 60 Minutes UA-cam video "Indoor air systems crucial to curbing spread of viruses, aerosol researchers say," which proves the point that many (most?) respiratory viruses spread through aerosolized particles. One of the very nastiest viruses currently floating around (i.e., Covid), certainly does transmit in this way, almost exclusively. I believe that even the CDC is putting out numbers like for every 10,000 Covid transmissions, one of them is due to fomite transmission. Is this deliberate? After all, it's easy to tell people to wash their hands, but it's hard to tell a business, school, or restaurant to improve their air circulation. Lastly, I am one of those rare people who has the discipline to wash his hands before he eats and not to touch my eyes while I'm out and about. (Very rare, indeed; this skill doesn't require a genius, but it does require some sort of brain, yes.) Yet I catch a cold once or twice a year.
@@RespireOfficial Buildings generally need better filtration through their HVAC systems. Individuals can use HEPA filters which purify the air in homes, offices, and--for the love of pete--in schools. People who really want to mitigate the risks of catching a bug can wear a well-fitted N95 respirator or similar-style mask, avoid thick indoor crowds, and/or make their treks brief. Windows can be opened, even a bit. And--although this is way to much to ask in America--to ask that if someone is ill that that person have the decency to avoid going into crowded indoor spaces or don a mask himself. That last suggestion would go over like a lead balloon in America (with the My Rights! crowd and all), but it's worth mentioning. That is how I see it, and I do thank you for asking.
Hard? Not sure about that. Just need to make sure you own the right stocks before passing regulation that necessitates the replacement or upgrade to almost every business or school building 😁
