Few classics there Timbo, last time I was up at Cobblers and the Flat was 2016 Australia day weekend, place was smashed. We kept on trucking and I found an old single track down to the river that was in need of clearing, just pushed on in and found a beaut spot with stream access for me and the handbrake. Had the best long weekend. The Flat's always busy hey, even mid week, just great for families with small kids, that great sink hole on the left as you enter the camp, bloody cold but nice and deep. Good work mate. Cheers.

There's some great spots along the King River to camp, and then you get away from most of the crowds.
Pineapple is a great spot if you can stay away from the busy times.

Hi Batesy, I saw you at Pineapple Flat that night! I had just come through wild horse gap track into pineapple flat quite late in the afternoon. Coming from the other direction there was one ascent that was a bit hairy but other than that great drive. I was in a red BT-50. I thought about saying hi but wasn’t sure if you wanted some peace and quiet (if that was possible at pineapple flat that night).

Hi Tim. My partner and I are big fans of yours. We love your videos and have watched most of them. We have a dog and are wondering if there are campsites on the way to King Hut on the King River that aren't in the Alpine National Park, so that we can take our dog? You may have stopped for lunch at one of those spots but we aren't sure.

      Gday Rodney,
Thanks mate for your feedback on my videos.
Along the King River between Pineapple Flat and King Hut is difficult for taking dogs.
That track crosses the river half a dozen times and depends which side of the river you’re on, depends if you’re in National Park or not.
      King Hut is National Park.
Hope that helps a bit mate with taking your dog into that area.
      Thanks for your reply mate.
      Cheers Tim.

    Great vid Tim.
Which way did you come in to Pineapple Flat ?
Which way did you go after Lake Cobbler to Craig's Hut ?
Did you take Speculation Rd down the staircase? I've gone up the staircase in a Daihatsu Feroza years ago.. good fun.
I'm wanting to take my wife thru Mansfield and out to Pineapple Flat and then the same route you took but unsure which way back to Craig's Hut then Mansfield.
I'm not but, she's brand new to this so don't want to freak her out on the first trip if possible.
    Would love your advice thanks.

Simple camping at its best.. Spag Bol the easy way.. ' always chuck a garlic bread in foil on the coals as well... Geez, you guys are spoilt for 4wd/camping down there. NSW Nat Parks would have that closed in an instant, or charge huge camp fees.

    • @timbates4wdadventures

      G'day Mark,
Spot on mate. Simple camping is the best, so easy and very relaxing.
Pre made spog bol makes a really nice dinner, it always tastes better days after its made.
I like that idea of the garlic bread, that would be so easy in the coals of the campfire.
We are a bit fortunate down here with no camping fees. Might come in one day though.
