I am a Lynyrd man since early 70`s and I must say that your harp version of Freebird really gets shiver down my spine. Totally awsome, Will! Even though I am a 64 year old geezer and guitar player it was a true joy to watch this incredible step by step instructions on how to play one of the most epic rock tunes ever made. I started learning this solo months ago by working on your video in super-slow motion. I only know the first 20 seconds well 😀and when I watch the whole video I realize that the road is very long before I get to the end😟. Exactly. It still amazes me that he can play a solo that is about 90% draws without going blue in the face. I'm willing to bet on some of his exhales he was damn near ready to burst a lung.
Just got your harmonica today. Thank you! I have been a Lee Oskar harmonica fan for over 20 years because of the ease of play. Wow. Put yours to my lips and bending is easy and it has a sound that can really cut through. Just a few hundred hours of practice and I'll be doing Freebird too. :)

I have a Suzuki Songstar Chromatic Harmonica, my guess is the slider would make it much more difficult, not to mention that I've lost practice and my lungs will probably be hurting after this. A question about the harp I'm going to get for this tune : The harp you're using in this tutorial, is it the 'Wilde-tuned Rock Harmonica 1847 in C' ? I think it's this one, or I'm mistaken, and its the '1847 Classic Wilde-Minor tuning C-minor. By the way. Your 'Free Harmonica Course' is great learning and leads into your 'Ultimate Blues Harmonica Soloist Course' very nicely. After my 6-years on my self-learning harp curve I constantly struggled with some related harp theory/music/playing aspects, that if I had understood/learned at the onset my learning curve would have been easier going forward. Through your two courses your teachings have thus far into the 'Ultimate Blues Soloist' been providing me with aspects I've missed, or just didn't understand before. In these courses your teachings have seamlessly broke aspects down. So, for me thus far the 2 courses have turned a light on to deeper understanding as to what I'm actually doing on the harmonica, in a song, and how it's all connected. Even my improvising skills have become better because of a now deeper understanding of the scales and other techniques you draw attention to. Even at this point now I'm a more knowledgeable and better harmonica player. So even after my years of playing I can say it does pay dividends to revisit and take steps backwards to find the missing links on the learning curve, so as to move ahead as a player in wider more positive strides. Your 2 courses have thus far been solid foundational pillars for me. Wish I had this course material and well broken down explanations when I started out. Thanks Will Wilde. 😁👍. To be clear, I posted my thoughts only because I'm a happy camper student of Will Wilde's 2 courses, and his many other tutorials over the years. My respect level from you went up another 10000 steps after I first heard this. Your breath control is insane and for anyone who hasn’t played one of these harps that draw bend on the high notes, you have no idea how much control this takes. Im dumbfounded!!! Will I’m getting that high pitch squeal when I try to take hole 7 down the 3rd semi tone. I can bend it half and a whole tone fine but past that it’s squeals….. what could I be doing wrong? Also I can’t get hole 10 to bend at all. Btw I am using an Ab Wilde tuned harp. I do have an A powerbender and I can bend the 9th& 10 th hole on it (though not with much control) and both harps are the Seydel 1846 if this helps. Maybe it’s the steel Reeds I’m not used to???

Hi Will, I bought your wild tuned rock harmonica 1847 classic key c, it’s my first harmonica, so I know I’m using it wrong, when I use it, it sounds like an accordion, it doesn’t sound as tight and rock ‘n’ roll as when you use it, do you have any tips how to make it sound more like more rock and less like an accordion? I kind of already did here: ua-cam.com/video/swaOMMymTzM/v-deo.html They're are great harps. They're basically the same as the 1847 Classic but with plastic comb instead of wood. I have played both for the last 10 years and still can't really tell any difference between them to be honest.

Thanks Cam, good question! No, my Blues Soloist course is all on standard Richter tuning. It uses harps in the key of C and A.

It will all be same, relative to the key... So you'd be playing it in A.

The original song is in G, so you need a C harp to play along. If you use a D harp you would need a backing track in A.
