Plus you can always find gems in books that have been out for 10+ years. For me I don't really prioritize new releases I just read whatever I have access to
I love this series!! Even when you aren’t liking any of the books it still accomplishes getting old books off of your tbr which is the whole point. Hopefully you’ll have some 5 stars somewhere in there to make up for your disappointments.
Your expressions when reading a book you are iffy about are hilarious. Can't wait for the next round--I'm sure for all the mid books on the wheel, there are new favorites just waiting for you.
Yes, in the US is California, and next to it in Mexico there's Baja California norte and Baja California sur which means like Down California north and south.
Love your videos-I am always excited for the next to come out! I just wanted to add this here: Baja California is a Mexican state on the Baja California Peninsula, bordering the U.S. state of California.
Fun vlog as always! I really do like the randomness aspect of spinning the wheel. Just a suggestion for next time: maybe spin the wheel 3x, but save the last book pick for a five star prediction, or something you’re really excited about from your backlist? Then you’d have at least a little control and could hopefully find at least one “winner”!
I'm sad you ended up DNF'ing Circe (one of my favorites), but I get it if it's not your thing. I am glad you loved Challengers though! It is by far my favorite movie of the year and I've seen it twice already and want to see it again!
I Shazam'd the excellent instrumental you played as you began "Untamed Shore" - thanks for that! Otherwise I admire how you go with what the wheel spins, give everything a great shot, and are always totally honest. I love all that! I wish you had better luck in this vlog but at least you knocked down a bunch of your Backlist!
Sometimes the random number generator just gives us duds (I'm a data scientist - the wins are never evenly spaced out if we pick them randomly ;) ) I've recently been doing a "pick several things off Mt. TBR, read each for 15 minutes/a couple chapters, then decide to keep going or yeet. It's got about 8 things off the list without me having to commit the full cover-to-cover reading experience for all of them. (Didn't find any 5 stars out of the couple that I did finish, but I don't regret reading them)
I still love this series!! Just a question for thought: is there some other way to encourage yourself to read your backlist? If not, this DOES seem to do the trick, and it’s enjoyable to watch even when you’re not finding favorites. The goal isn’t to find favorites, is it, or is it about downsizing your backlist tbr? Anyway, big fan of your channel 😊
Sorry this didn’t go well for you. But I definitely think you should keep doing this series. There’s a certain excitement in reading those backlist books! And at least you’re knocking them off your TBR!
gabby!! dont be upset, i like when vlogs dont go as planned, this feels so realistic and i like when we have 2-3 stars books! genuinely my fav series on your channel!!
I love this series keep doin them ❤ and i also saw quiet on set when it first came out and after watching that childhood shows ruined like I will never understand how bryan n dan are still able to work with kids after all that they had done
Hi Gabby! I love this backlist bonanza. I’m a Madeline Miller fan. I’ve read Circe 3 times. I adore it. Probably #1 of beloved books for me. Il an OG fan of yours. Wish I could go Italy with your family. Hang with your mom too since we’re the same age. However,?I’m going to see TAYLOR in Miami in Oct! I cannot afford the Italy trip but happy for you! Tell the folks and Rachel I said “Hi” 💖
I love reading because we can all have such different experiences reading- I haven't read Circe yet but I know it's so beloved that it makes me nervous! And even if you didn't have any real wins with these books at least you gave them a go and can unhaul them and make room for new books that you are excited for. Looking forward to your next vlog, Gabby! (And I am sure others have mentioned it but Baja California is a real place, it's the Mexican state right below California 😉).
I tried Circe a handful of years ago and I also DNF’d it. I made it almost halfway through the audiobook and it just wasn’t hitting. I think I might try a wheel like this for some of the books on my shelf that have been there forever because it seems like fun!
That feeling of being excited and at the same time terrified... I love and hate it at the same time! 🤣 I'm so glad I'm not the only one that gets that way.
"I've read fanfiction better than this book" HAHAHAHAHA SO TRUE! How is there always a Silvia Moreno-Garcia book I've not heard of everytime I go on booktube 😅 Also super random but where did you find the spinning wheel?
Hey Gabby, I wanted to let you know that “5 Below” is selling BTS characters, better hurry before they are gone!!! LOL I enjoyed the video, thank you for sharing!!! ❤❤Judy❤❤
I think Circe is better read physically, especially if you know you struggle with the theme and writing style (like me). I would have DNFed the audiobook but I gave the physical read 5 stars.
Gabby, life’s short, just DNF lousy reads and move on. I do like the idea of spinning the wheel and reading the books on your shelf, lots of fun to hear what you think! ❤❤Judy❤❤
I enjoyed this video even though you didn't end up with any new favorites. Several times I've intentionally selected a small stack of books that have been on my shelves a long time with the HOPE that I wouldn't like them enough to keep, allowing me to clear some space up for other books, only to have it backfire on me when I enjoyed most of the books and kept them. So, you just never know with backlist books. It can go either way.
I loved the concept of The Daydreams but the execution was so bad 😩 I feel like Taylor Jenkins Reid would write something so much better around that idea it’s almost sad that it’s not her book lol
I like this series. Even if you didn’t find books you loved. And I don’t think it makes you a “hater” the reasons you may or may not like a book may be the reason someone will.
You really missed out on Circi, the starting chapters are kinda boring but once you reach the part where Circi turns into an absolute monster is just so rewarding
I love this series! At least you got them off off your shelf to make room for books you’ll love🤞🤞 I’ve DNFED about 5 books already this month and that’s what I keep telling myself😂😂😂😂
glad someone else is using the spin the wheel method. this is how ive been picking my next book for like 2 years now. everytime i buy a new book i update my wheel :)
Sounds like it’s time to read until you get a five star with backlist books 😂😂
True!!! 👀
I just came here to say that! That would be so much fun!!
Baja California is a state in Mexico! Great vlog!
Was just about to comment this! ❤
Same, lol! 😂
@@theasmrlibrary me too lolz
I love this series; I think it's so satisfying either way because you either find new favs or are able to unhaul!
Plus you can always find gems in books that have been out for 10+ years. For me I don't really prioritize new releases I just read whatever I have access to
Ok I literally never comment but I LOVE this format so much! Even if the books are disappointing, it's an enjoyable journey to watch. Keep it up! 🖤🫶
Baja California=. Below California. Sorry, I am a geeky Geography teacher.

Aww im sorry that this time didnt go well. 😔 but i like this series

it’s soooo satisfying decreasing a physical tbr I love it!!! Also I’ve tried reading circe like 3 times and I literally couldn’t do it😭

Definitely keep going with the backlist
Oh no! I was thinking you would love Circe! But that’s ok, now at least it’s not staring at you on your shelf😆
Oh my! I thought Gabby would love it! I’ve re-read twice. I loved it. It’s my jam for sure.
I still love this series!! Just a question for thought: is there some other way to encourage yourself to read your backlist? I’m dying at the Baja California 23:39 ‘that’s a lie’ 🤭
Sorry this didn’t go well for you. But I definitely think you should keep doing this series. There’s a certain excitement in reading those backlist books! And at least you’re knocking them off your TBR!
I love this series even when it doesn’t do well!!
I'm not even going to try Circe because it's not my thing either lol

Tell the folks and Rachel I said “Hi” 💖
I hace given a lot of one and two stars this year, so I do understand the frustration.
I love a DNF haha it gets a book off my tbr in record time and I'm not mad about it haha
You're a reader, it's alright to have excitement for a book, read it and it's not what you thought.
Am I confused or do you not know that Baja California is a real state in Mexico?👀😅
That sucks that you didn't find any good ones. I'm thankful when you share all your thoughts on crappy books because it saves me from reading them. 😆
I love these spin the wheel videos! Please keep doing them.
i love this series so much, your reactions/expressions are so funny LOOL
I love reading because we can all have such different experiences reading- I haven't read Circe yet but I know it's so beloved that it makes me nervous! I’ve never even heard of the daydreams 👀 but it sounded like it would be good 😂
I enjoy every reading vlog you post either if it's successful or not 😊
Love these 😂 love you!
More blacklist. I should get a wheel going.
I tried Circe a handful of years ago and I also DNF’d it. I made it almost halfway through the audiobook and it just wasn’t hitting. I think I might try a wheel like this for some of the books on my shelf that have been there forever because it seems like fun!
I love this series!! Totally inspires me to read those books I’ve staring at on my shelves forever 😜
I recently dnf'ed Circe too. Just couldn't get into it.
That feeling of being excited and at the same time terrified... I love and hate it at the same time! 🤣 I'm so glad I'm not the only one that gets that way.
Yes, I'm still enjoying this type of content.
"I've read fanfiction better than this book" HAHAHAHAHA SO TRUE! How is there always a Silvia Moreno-Garcia book I've not heard of everytime I go on booktube 😅
Also super random but where did you find the spinning wheel?
The website is called “wheel of names” 🥰
@@gabbyreads thank you so much!!!!
I also DNF'd Circe but loved Song of Achilles. I think I just need gay to do Greek mythology 😂
Hey Gabby, I wanted to let you know that “5 Below” is selling BTS characters, better hurry before they are gone!!! LOL I enjoyed the video, thank you for sharing!!! ❤❤Judy❤❤
I’m obsessed with these videos!
I think Circe is better read physically, especially if you know you struggle with the theme and writing style (like me). I would have DNFed the audiobook but I gave the physical read 5 stars.

I have a minor in classics and even I couldn’t get into Circe. I remember giving up on it halfway through chapter 2 💀
Baja California is in Mexico 😂
Also I read and loved this book but definitely don’t think it’s a thriller.
I enjoyed this video even though you didn't end up with any new favorites. I have thought the same thing about the TV show reunion trope. I don’t know what my expectations are, but somehow the books don’t live up to them.
I like this series. Even if you didn’t find books you loved. And I don’t think it makes you a “hater” the reasons you may or may not like a book may be the reason someone will.
I can do Greek mythology but cannot get with Sci fi books lol
You really missed out on Circi, the starting chapters are kinda boring but once you reach the part where Circi turns into an absolute monster is just so rewarding
Your videos are so fun and entertaining. I need to hit up my backlist during Summerween
I agree - love this series even if you’re books aren’t entertaining, you definitely are❤️
How did you made that spin wheel ????
Ahhh sorry that they didn't work out for you!
I hope you get all systems red next time i recently started the series and im loving it! The bot is so sarcastic and unserious
I gave Circe 3 stars. Wasn't a huge fan.
Cannot believe someone DNF a Madeline Miller book 😲
Even though I liked TSOA much more than Circe but still wrapping my head around dnf this book 😀
I love this book. Have re-read twice. It’s my jam. I’m obsessed.
Baja California is a state in Mexico
Great vlog. 📚☕👻💀🦇
Thank you so much for the vlog!
I love this series! At least you got them off off your shelf to make room for books you’ll love🤞🤞 I’ve DNFED about 5 books already this month and that’s what I keep telling myself😂😂😂😂
Yes I absolutely enjoy the backlist bonanza series. The unpredictability of it is adventurous.
🥰🥰🥰
❤❤❤
❤❤❤
I love this series! Even if you don't like the books at least you can clean out your shelves!
glad someone else is using the spin the wheel method. this is how ive been picking my next book for like 2 years now. everytime i buy a new book i update my wheel :)
Yes, but why is 2018 six years ago 🥲 what is time 🥲
