Yeah, but the Finale is still my all-time-favourite^^ I love "Zu Ende" and it was the first Song of the Musical I ever heard but the Finale is just wonderful (and far better in english than in german despite Thomas Borchert is a quite awesome Dracula)
In the English versions it's really obvious that this was written in another language. It's just..akward. :/ In fact, the whole show sounds so much better in German. I love this show, but the German International release here is by far the best version, no question. Luckily they finally put it on UA-cam with lyrics included! It's gorgeous. :3
Actually it was written originally in English. Frank Wildhorn was the producer. I have several Demos with Douglas Sills playing Dracula. It didn't do well on Broadway. When it opened in Germany it did much better. Wildhorn seems to be doomed by critics before his shows even open. I like his shows quite alot.
I agree. And yes, the musical was originally English, but this song in particular was written for the actors in the German version. :) It really is sad how critics react to his work, as his is some of my favorite stuff.
