    SIG should implement button instead of flipping switch to change mode. Flip to turn on, push button to toggle between scan and target mode.

    Both are manufactured by the same company (Kamakura Japan) The differences are the result of each "brand" requesting their own individual specifications Not sure about the firmware though, whether it's developed by Kite and Sig themselves or Kamakura giving a list of options
    The Kite is definitely better than the older non HDX Sig
    I have the 16x models from both manufacturers Bought the Sig for the target node and lighter weight
    Going to try out the new Kite 18x50 production model this weekend and compare it width my Sig 16x42 HDX. Six months ago I was already able to test a prototype of the 18x50
    Resolution was a bit better than my Canon 18x50 and definitely better than my Kite 12x42 but not as good as my Canon 10x42
    The stabilization didn't work satisfyingly imo, lots of vertical wobble but could be because it was a prototype specimen since the14x50 version didn't have that problem. Will report back next week, if it blows away the Sig and the Canon, I will order one

      @jeanpaulceulemans9973 thanks for the info! We've been testing and using the new 18x50s this season and have been super impressed. Definitely an upgrade optically from the original APC. Let me.know what you think!

    Don't worry about battery consumption. I have used the Kite 16x42 every weekend for almost a year now and still use the same battery set. Next time, no spare batteries will be used (at least not in the first half of the year).

      Hi mate, I currently have zeiss victory 10x25 binos which I love. The image quality is great. I recently moved to a Scottish island where eagles/deer and various wildlife is plentiful. I am wanting a new pair of premium binos to enjoy the views.
      How do you find the image quality on your kite bino's?

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  4 місяці тому

      @themarksmanABP hey there! Overall, image stabilized binos simply aren't as good as the premium binos like those Victory you have. That said, the nee Kite EDs we've been testing are outstanding. Thanks for watching!

      @@BackwoodsPursuit hey guys, literally just come across the new 50's... Have you got a vid of them? How do they stand up in image quality to what I'm used too? I don't mind a little less IQ if you get quality IS and 18x mag lol. Most of my uses are we go driving round the island and come across wildlife all the time, I'd leave them in the car

    • @BackwoodsPursuit

      @themarksmanABP awesome! We haven't published our review of the Kite ED 50s, but I have been using them all season and they are very very good. A downgrade vs something like the Zeiss Victory or Swaro NL Pure, but the stabilization is excellent and if you are on the move, they are a fantastic option. I'd definitely recommend them. Thanks!

    I would love a review on the 50 mm objective Kite. It looks like it's just coming out now to a few stores. Interested if if the low light characteristics are much improved and if the IS is better as well. By any chance will you be reviewing this product?

    Hi. Not sure if you have a chance to do a FOV of SIG 10x30 vs 12x42. I have the 12x42 and find the FOV too narrow sometimes. The 10x30 is 5.2 degree vs 3.8 on the 12x42.
    I want to get the 10x30 but because the EP is only 3, I'm afraid it will be hard to get perfect view without blackout. On the 42 I do experienced imperfect view and need frequent adjusting and on the 30 it may be worse? Any thoughts?

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  7 місяців тому

      Hey there! Thanks for the question. I can't say that I noticed a big difference in that way between the 10x30s and 12x42s, but I also wasn't specifically looking for that difference. The 10x30s were noticeably worse in low light as you can imaging with that much smaller EP. Thanks for watching!

      great review, thanks for sharing your experience with these binoculars, i have the canon 18x50,,12x36 v.3 and the 10x30 v.2 , i’ve been a backyard astronomer and birder over 40 years now, i’ve had some great telescopes and binoculars over that time, my question is on the objective lenses, i see they are not round and looks like they are flat where the two objective lenses, or closest to each other in the center of the binocular, i do know you still get a perfect circle just like the binoculars that have completely round lenses for the objective lenses, so does that make them smaller than the 42mm lenses that they are or does those flat spots on the lenses don’t make a difference ?? hopefully i explained it correctly, just never seen objective lenses with flat spots on the edges on the one side ?? thanks, ken. i’ve been using the 3 canons since 2018 with no problems and they are awesome.

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  11 місяців тому

      @ken-ec9wv hey there! Yeah that makes sense. Like you said, the field of view is still round, but I'm not 100% sure how the lens size is measured with that flat spot in the center. Good question but I don't have an answer on that one. Sorry!

      @kevinmartin2096 hey there! Yeah, I just called to confirm that Sig has now changed their warranty as of roughly 60 days ago (so after this video was made) so that these stabilized binoculars fall under their "Infinite Guarantee". That's super cool that they upgraded from the prior warranty. Thanks for watching and pointing that out!
