I just found your channel after considering a purchase of the vortex razor HD 10x42 binoculars. With all of the worthless channels UA-cam recommends I was irritated I had never heard of your channel before. Thanks for your thorough and comprehensive reviews.
This what I long thought I would experience with stabilized binos, wanting a tripod anyway because my arms would get tired glassing bowls and valleys, plus Id want a tripod for my rifles anyway for the long range shots, should the situation present itself. It would always be part of my kit regardless. Better glass, low light performance and most of all field of view are all reasons why Im sticking with bino+tripod. If I was a run-n-gun style hunter, I see how the stabilized binos would make more sense..also marine applications obviously. Great review as usual, you are the best!
Hope Sig, Kite and Swaro can produce a high end IS model with top glass. This is severely lacking for birder and nature observer. Current IS bino has good stabilizer but still dont have top end glass and limited FOV. I hike and do not want to carry a tripod. I'm using nikon MHG 8x42 and it caused micro shakes when I'm huffing and panting. I just got myself a Sig 12x42 Zulu6 HDX and the stabilizing is amazing. The ergonomic is pretty bad and very narrow FOV which I have to get used to. Nikon MHG has amazing FOV.
Hey there! Kite actually just released their new ED Glass 50mm models and they have excellent glass...a huge improvement over the both the existing Kite and the Sig. They are a lot bigger though as you'd expect. Thanks for watching!

At my working range I have much more use for light gathering and optic quality than greater stability (so far im stable enough freehand or with bow as support)
I just bought the Kite Optics APC 18x50 Stabilized ED Binoculars (Li-Ion version), for Astronomy purposes (I ain't no birder or hunter! 😅). Btw-what do you think? Are they good for Astronomy in your view? Your input would be greatly appreciated! 😊😊

Hey there Mike! The 10x30s are fantastic if you are looking for lightweight and compact stabilized binos. Optically they seemed to be thebsame as the larger versions, but were also noticeably worse in low light. There's definitely a give and take. Yeah, Sig puts the FOV in the angular measurement, so you have to calculate it manually. The formula to convert it to the linear FOV is: 52.5 x the angular FOV. Thanks for watching!
Considering stabilized if you are using tripod is just plenty stupid ! It is like considering using a boat to replace your car... This video is stupid. You forgot to say that stab binocular are fragile, that's probably their main downside. Their are also heavier that regular ones, and make noise. And obviously, they are more expensive that comparable standard binocular. Now, I have 14x42 stabilized from fujinon, and using from a boat... The results are really game changer.
Hey there! I suppose that would depend on someones use and what they are trying to accomplish. If you are wanting something to be able to run and gun...glassing while hiking, then stabilized makes a ton of sense. If you do most of your glassing off of a tripod, then they I'd opt for better glass. However, if you want to be able to do both, then stabilized can also make sense. I've used stabilized in all of those scenarios and for me personally, they each have their place. Yes, they are certainly more fragile, and there are electronics involved so they won't last as long as traditional binoculars. I will say, however, that when I've compared the weight of stabilized binoculars to others of similar quality, they land right in the middle (as far as weight is concerned). They are, however, much lighter than your "premium" binoculars like the NL Pure. Thanks for watching!
I have Canon IS binos that have been hunting all over the world. Over 1000 miles riding on a saddle horn through Alaska 17 times. Hunting dall, big horn, mountain lions, bears in Alaska and the continental US, whitetail in the Midwest, bashing around in boats. They are trashed, and they're still in working order. Fragile is relative. Sure, they're more fragile than non-IS binos, but are so super rugged.

I had NL’s 10x42 and loved them but once I got the Zulu 6 16x42 the images stabilizing are game changing.
