    Hey community - this video is intended to be a 3 month review on the MX2, I've been skeptical of cable driven rests in the past... Got some time with the AAE prophecy back in the spring of 2023 and really liked it. I ran the MX2 all fall of 2023 and think I'm going to keep it on my primary bow, it checks a lot of boxes for me when it comes to hunting scenarios. We'll do another video later next year and check back in on it. -DS

    After 10-12 years I gave up on QAD back in 2019.
    Ran the Trinity on my V3 and ran the Epsilon on my V3X.
    I’m going back to QAD this year.
    Ordered the MX2 for my Lift.

    I've had my MX1 for 2 almost 3 years now and it's been flawless. I have mine wrapped with a type of felt paper type stuff, kinda furry like a pipe cleaner twisty and then tied around with serving material where you were talking about shrink wrapping and it has worked great. Before that I had the other QAD drop away that was just like $140 on my VERTIX until it broke, I've had great experiences the last 6 years now nothing bad to say, the one that kind of broke didn't completely break, it wasn't catching all the time when I would cock it up, so I took it apart and fixed the spring that wore out and now it's good to go again so I now have a backup. Apparently this is common, at least after 10s of thousands of arrows. Before I fixed the spring I'd have to push on it a little bit to the right whenever I'd cock it up, then it would catch. But as always great video Dan. Thank you!

    I love my hamskea trinity, but it’s bulky, huge, not super quiet, and when I was hunting elk in Utah, I had to hold my arrow so much that I got a callus on my finger. I’m definitely switching to some thing with the flip up containment.

    I had to switch back to my hamskea after my QAD stopped working this fall. Not sure what happened but it stopped dropping. It’s basically stuck upright. I can’t even force it down. My local bow shop had me drop it off so they could take a look at it an see if they could get it to work or send it back for warranty work an get me a free one. But when it did work it worked like a dream. An being able to have it upright ready to go is amazing.

    I have always used QAD HDX rest since I left whisker biscuits years ago. I have NEVER had a failure. I always take a spare whisker biscuit on out of state hunts in case of mishaps and thankfully never had to use. I have not owned an MX and still run the HDX.

    I had a QAD on my V3X 29 till my last chance archery draw board failed and launched the hook into the rest bending the arm on the qad. QAD did repair it but it took 2 months. In that time I decided to try the Hamskea Epsilon. For me it was the opposite experience. When the arrow is down I can just put my finger over it to reduce noise. No cocking the rest needed. For me the added weight is worth the strength. I can check the timing easier without drawing the bow. Overall at this time I like the Epsilon better. Both are good though

    I remember you saying how you came to full draw on a bull this past September and your arrow was not on the rest. I’m assuming you did not think of cocking or didn’t have time cock it? So, don’t you think that’s a downside of the QAD… that there is a bigger chance of drawing back and the arrow missing the launcher if you don’t cock it prior? I feel like Hamskea’s launcher blades are much wider to prevent this. Just a thought.

    • @brianlew9559
      @brianlew9559 10 місяців тому

      It'll take extra care and attention. A 500 spine arrow falling in there would suck. It's happened with a Hamskea too, but rare. A guy at the shop forgot to reinstall draw stops, pulled back too far and the arrow got stuck and exploded. Blame the pilot on that one though.

    I personally think for hunting the QAD is better option. It's cocked and ready to go, has much better containment, integrates better to the riser, and no cord to get hung up on things. The only real downside is the fact that you can't really fix it in the field without a press like the Hamskea. I've owned both, and both are great rests.

      @@devinwillis7787 when the QAD rest is cocked up, the arrow can’t move left or right, and can’t bounce off the shelf of your riser. This allows you to cant your bow sideways (like when crawling or avoiding brush) without worrying about your arrow bouncing around and making noise. It’s a very nice feature for spot and stalk hunting.
      A limb driven rest may have a little rubber piece on the shelf to mitigate some of this, but it’s not nearly as effective as the QAD design.

And I don’t say that I have the cheapest qad embarrassingly I say it because I just started bow hunting now finishing my second season so I didn’t want to drop 3k on a flagship bow with high end accessories when I wouldn’t of known the difference between a $300 bow and $1300 bow. I’ve killed 3 doe with it, it works just fine. Now that I’ve really gotten into it and have fallen in love im in to looking for some upgrades. I would like a new rest and sight. I would like more adjustments and to learn and expand my knowledge. I rock a 3 pin all fixed. Now I’m looking for a 3 pin slider. I would like to start practicing out past 40 and I don’t want 5 pins. To much to look at. Price isn’t really my biggest concern, I usually never buy the fanciest shit anyways. Usually mid line to top mid line. But if I upgraded those for my bow now then by the next season or two I can upgrade just my bow and have a nice rest and sight already to swap over. And just set my old bow up with all original stuff. So let me know how that rest works for you. I’ve just been looking to look and it’s damn near impossible to find them left handed. Not that I’m buying it yet just wanted to see what’s out there. Haven’t made my

QAD is junk imho, vanes strikes galore, timing issues nonstop. Cheap plastic fingers with junk feltish stuff that wont stay stuck to the plastic. There's 20 generations of archery equipment sitting around in classified ads, yard sales, or your buddies basement. Archery technology hasn't really made a significant leap since the PSE XForce days. The bows shoot the same speeds, are marginally "smoother", marginally easier to tune, marginally more "forgiving" and the same goes with rests, releases, stabilizers, etc etc etc. A 15 year old Limb Driver Pro works as good as any target or hunting rest once you have it dialed.
