  • Hi everyone,
    Hope everyone is fit and well and managing to play some golf.
    Thank you for your patience after the little break I’ve had due to dad passing away. I was supposed to get filming last week but the council decided to dig up the road right outside the back fence.
    There will be videos coming out on the normal Tuesday and Friday slots at 7pm UK time going forward, so I hope they find you well and you not only enjoy them, but you get an understanding from them.
    Shoulder tilt, which this video is explaining about, is one of the moves that is very common amongst golfers who tend to draw the ball, than the golfer who tends to slice the ball.
    I hope you find it if some use and it’s good to be back.
    Many thanks for your support, it means a great deal.
    Kind regards as always
    Warren (and Trev)

    Really sorry to hear about your father Warren, I hope you are well and thanks for taking the time to provide more content.
    The drill that you revisited recently your ‘favorite drill’ is a real doozy! I was practicing it at home on my mat and net( which is the same as hours!) and after 60 odd shots, I then proceeded to hit full swings, and boy did it really help with compressing my irons, and kept me down longer on impact. Again, thanks for sharing this gem, it’s bloody awesome.

    If I could add my own tip as well. As well as starting with 25% 50% etc. Swings, start with your wedges, 9 iron etc. And then build up through your bag. It feels easier for me to feel this low trail shoulder tilt at impact when you hit shorter shafted clubs.

  • @AndrewDCDrummond
    @AndrewDCDrummond Місяць тому +1

    It's more than just this though, the 'tilting' of the shoulders really is part of dissassociating the thoracic (top) part of the spine from the lower part so it can more easily move on a separate plane than the lower part of the spine, all part of the 'left sidebend to right sidebend' movement. Another video on YT shows that pros are nearly all at roughly 40 degrees of shoulder tilt in the backswing, and 55 degrees at impact. Whereas most higher handicap amateurs are at 25 degrees of tilt in the backswing, even though their lower spine angles are about the same. That implies that the most pros tilted the top part of their spine over.
    From having that top part of your spine curved into left sidebend then transition starts to move you to the opposite sidebend, whereas if it isn't (so the 25 degree tilt angle), then transition just wants to throw your trail shoulder out into an OTT move.
    I have a tall mate that has very much looks like a question mark at address as the top part of his back is curved over to nearly be horizontal (a bit like Colin Montgomerie), and there is no way that his swing can go OTT.
    Obviously there are pros that don't have so much tilt in the backswing, but they will have matchup moves that keep the club shallow into impact and will generally be very rotational in motion.
    That's my opinion anyway :-)

    Good to have you back Warren. I sincerely hope everything went well.
    A few weeks ago, I began using your drills as I flip a bit. The "Less is more " is my thought on the course now. At 66, I still hit it OK ( I'm a 5 ) but it's not good enough as I get to my 70's. Today I went on the range and hit draws without too much effort. This video pairs perfectly with your others for the type of player I am. I want to thank you for sharing your wisdom with myself and all of us. After 33 years of trying to improve, finally it's clear where I need to be.
    Obviously, I'm a fan.
    Thanks again Warren , look forward to more.

      Thank you Keith, I’m glad you’re in a good place with your golf, and that’s amazing you’re still playing off 5, I’m sure the less is more feeling will at the very least will keep you at that level. Thanks for the feedback and kind words, much appreciated.
      Kind regards

      @@warrenbennettgolfacademy yes I am

    • @warrenbennettgolfacademy
      @warrenbennettgolfacademy  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks Dave for getting in touch. In a perfect world yes, but if the body/shoulders move incorrectly this can be difficult, mainly golfers who tend to have an outside path coming down.
      As you may know I’m definitely a fan of encouraging an efficient arm swing so for the club golfer mainly, I would encourage this.
      Having a shoulder tilt that is more down in the downswing will definitely help this.
      There is one area where I really believe the arms should be pulling the body through is basically halfway down and through impact.
      I hope this makes sense mate, if it doesn’t please let me know.
      Regards
      Warren
