The short answer is yes. Same as anyone else. Especially with some people's ideas of what being Born Again means. Some believe all you have to do is say that you're a sinner and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, once saved, always saved, so it doesn't matter what they do after that, they can keep being Catholic, Jew, Muslim or Atheist, and they are Born Again because they did the work of saying a prayer claiming Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Fake headline. Clickbait alert. Mormon lies. David Alexander was not a priest. He left the Catholic church because the church wouldn't approve his divorce.
It's not lies, just mixed up information on both interviewer and interviewed. No lies were intended here, but many, many mistakes. I've listened to David Alexander since right before his baptism into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which was 15 months ago.
Really, David was married when he was 12 and left the Catholic Church to follow the Cultural Revolution? He did go back and investigate the Catholic Church, though he never rejoined, but he wasn't yet married then either. This guy with all his mistakes spoke more truth than you have.
This story is important because he humbly and sincerely sought the Lord's guidance, with real intent. He didn't just rely on his own understanding, as too many people do. He sought the confirmation of the Holy Ghost, as we are admonished to do in Moroni 10 :4 of The Book of Mormon.
This is a story that has been recycled many times. What you hear here is just a sloppy version of this whole wives tale about a Catholic priest that looks for the authority and can’t find it until we walked into an LDS service or met with the missionaries.
My testimony of the church is strong but this guys way of doing things is kind of wacko. Getting a small amount of people, along a few a bad apple because they don't believe you, is very cult-ish and brainwash-y. The gospel is very plain and clear. Jesus Christ also said call no man father, which the Catholic Church does, even Pope means father in another language. Could Jesus Christ and his Apostles have spelled it out any plainer? The Pagan Emperor Constantine chose one of the many Christian sects at random, and with the might of the Roman Empire told them to come up with something to unify them or destroy those who refused. And without any help or authority from God, they came up with the Trinity based on the Pagan Gnostic form, God the Father, and his Word (Logos), and his Wisdom (Sophia), a female entity that replaced the always male Holy Spirit/Ghost, this being the form of the Trinity given by Theophilus, the first to use the word Trinity.
