I left the church when I was 19 and now happily returning at age 50. N ver found the inner peace in my 31 years away that I had when I was there. That peace has washed over me once again and I am grateful for that. I’m grateful for friends that never gave up on me and the lord for watching over me these 31 years to call me back to his fold

Love this, I left the church in 2005, wrote a letter telling them to remove me from the records. I went back in 2009 and shortly after my husband was diagnosed with leukemia and died in 2011 after a 2 year battle, he was not a member of the church but had supported me as a member. Heavenly Father told me he wasn’t going to survive it, but I was still so devastated and angry I left the church again in 2011 after he passed. 3 years ago this February the missionaries knocked on my door and I was never happier to see anyone in my life, I knew they were supposed to be here. I had my blessings restored and was able to be sealed to my husband at the Oquirrh Mountain temple that he had visited with me during its opening in 2009. I’m the adult Sunday school teacher and I have a strong testimony that this is Christs true church. Short version of a long journey….

Husband's and Wive's are one, not two anymore, when they get married. So, when we mention only God the Eternal Father's name, it's including GODDESS the Eternal MOTHER too, why? because they're one, in purpose. It's in the Old and New Testament. And, the best and perfect thing for you to do is, counsel with GOD the Eternal FATHER and GODDESS the Eternal MOTHER, about the existence of GODDESS the Eternal MOTHER, our beloved HOLY Eternal GODDESS MOTHER. I wonder if that turns them away more though. If you can’t be honest to their face, and respect their wishes, how is it done in a sincere way? I can understand if you child was under 18, and you told them you still wanted too. For me, honesty is EVERYTHING to me. I don’t feel comfortable, well I just don’t do things behind thier back no matter how much I might ‘know’ it would benefit them. Respecting them and supporting them as the precious human being they are being is very important to me (as long as I’m not supporting addictive bad behavior). Perhaps that makes me a poor ‘missionary’. I would definitely not be good on a debate team. I say how I feel and listen how the other person feels and I don’t feel compelled to convince them otherwise on things that could have personal experiences etc. and I’m actually interested in understanding their background from their upbringing and experiences that shaped who they are in their beliefs.
The thought of doing something anyway when someone asks seems like a betrayal. But he had a friend do it for 20 years, he was mad. But is now okay with it. The only reason why I can think someone would ask to to put their name in the temple is because they are seeking to be ‘seen’ from you or supported and show up in a different way. I have never been angry at God, so that is how I feel if someone says that but does not actually come to see and help with something difficult (unless the can’t or are already helping) but otherwise it can feel like they are passing the responsibility of the relationship off.
Perhaps maybe, it’s most important if possible to say something like, I can sense you have a hesitancy, or whatever you sense, just talk… but don’t ignore…
Enough of this. I never click on these videos. Don’t know why I clicked on it.
My family are converts. And they were hippie type people. The invitation was given, but not pushed. They ultimately received answers shockingly for themselves.

@@pepsilaron We don't have heavenly parents, we have a Creator God who has no wife and has no need for intercourse to create anything. The Bible says God spoke the world into being and breathed into man fashioned from the dust of the earth. God is not a man and never has been one, and the Bible also states that He is the only God who has ever been and will ever be, so there is no such thing as eternal families or planets of our own as gods either. I'm sorry if this disappoints you, but it's the true word of God. God the Holy Spirit seals each true believer in Jesus for God's eternal family for eternity. We will recognize one another in heaven as Peter recognized Elijah and Moses on the Mt. of Transfiguration, but we will not live in family units as common sense tells us that we are all related so many generations back and forward and all the relative are related sideways with others who also have families back and forward , so in reality we're going to be one giant spiritual family. As Jesus says, "who are my mother and brothers? Those who do the things I say to them." Hope you'll be one of us. Jesus is the key who unlocks heaven's door to eternal life.

Hi Jihan, I've learned that what I focus on expands, and it's up to me what I focus on. Knowing this, I don't want the end result of focusing on anti-LDS misery, as it has nothing to offer me. I am loving the results of focusing on what brings me true joy, which I am finding through faithfulness in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm glad you are focusing on building your testimony.

Im xlds and not at all miserable. I always say look at the fruits of the church as a whole...as an organization/corporation. Its fruits are so very ugly. But most of its people are fantastic. ALL who are seeking connection to the divine always will be cared for and helped. Most assume such confirms what they are looking at/or are involved in is therefore the end all be all. This is a mistake, imho, as the spirit confirms love and blessings to all seeking people in all walks of faith, even to those with no faith. It seems the church can even be a beneficial stumbling block on the way to eternity for those who need it. Just dont forget there is always more, and one can graduate from the church... as the church is a "limited hang". Cheers

    • @stumbledontothis
      @stumbledontothis 7 місяців тому +5

Just as a point of reference, people who have left the church generally aren't miserable. Most live very content lives. My belief is God doesn't judge us based on whether we were happy or content in our lives. He bases it on whether or not we kept his commandments. I would venture to say, living inside the covenants made at baptism, in the temple, and keeping the commandments given in the Bible, will lead a person to a happy afterlife, not always a happy mortal life. I find joy living those covenants and commandments in this life, but quite frankly, even if my life totally sucked, maybe by persecution, maybe by economic status, maybe by mental health, etc. I trust that the Lord will count all my struggles for my good in the end.
I mean, if the church is completely wrong... I can at least say to God when I die I did my best with what I thought was true. Or if God doesn't exist... Then I guess I'm just dead.
BUT...if the church is true and/or there is a God, then nothing changes for me. But I think some other people will have a lot to explain when all their anti-rhetoric is called for inspection.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I hope no member of the church would ever say derogatory remarks about another church or people, but instead say, "God loves you, repent of your sins, turn away from the negative in your life and follow Christ. Serve others. Take all the good from your current church and beliefs and join us. Build on the truth you know, and grow even more in Christ through making and keeping covenants with God."
I know my life has been blessed enormously by keeping my covenants. I hope others find the same blessing in their lives, too.

Both of you I wish I could hug. This video popped up in my YT algorithm this morning. I too am a disabled military Veteran. I served a mission; but am off "the covenent path". This message has reinforced my faith in the divinity of Christ and that Joseph Smith was/is a great witness of the evidence of the assurance of that Christ overcame death and we will all, because of Him. It's 2023 and Iv'e been so distracted by negative news-war and rumors of war. Climate issues, Covid and this morning now terror in Isreal. It is good to see good news today! We will welcome you back with open arms and a loving embrace. Half of my siblings (8 siblings) are less active in the Church (Gospel of Jesus Christ), but they still believe. They will attend church every so often. They know that they are still loved and wanted. A couple of weeks ago, 1 of my older brothers, said that it is time for him to come back to church, so we found out which Ward he is in and who the Bishop is. He says that he will contact the Bishop and start attending church actively again after 30+ years. Yes, there is always hope. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ and has prophets and apostles authorized to proclaim the word of God throughout all the world. Christ stands at the head of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Each and every individual Daughter and Son of God has a right to their own individual beliefs about, and relationship with, God and everlasting life. It's the single most important concept that each of us struggle with in this mortal life. Even people who are born and raised in this Church must face the question, and find their own answers/testimony for themselves. While we can look to each other for advice. wisdom, and guidance, we each have to find our own answers for ourselves.

“The Prophet Joseph Smith declared-and he never taught a more comforting doctrine-that the eternal sealings of faithful parents and the divine promises made to them for valiant service in the Cause of Truth, would save not only themselves, but likewise their posterity. Though some of the sheep may wander, the eye of the Shepherd is upon them, and sooner or later they will feel the tentacles of Divine Providence reaching out after them and drawing them back to the fold. Either in this life or the life to come, they will return. They will have to pay their debt to justice; they will suffer for their sins; and may tread a thorny path; but if it leads them at last, like the penitent Prodigal, to a loving and forgiving father’s heart and home, the painful experience will not have been in vain. Pray for your careless and disobedient children; hold on to them with your faith. Hope on, trust on, till you see the salvation of God” (Orson F. Whitney, in Conference Report, Apr. 1929, 110).

I received an undeniable answer to a fervent prayer asking if the things I had been taught about the church were true. A year later I left the church and ran hard in the other direction for 13. It was the answer I got that day on my knees that brought me back. That was 33 years ago. Heavenly father had enough love for me knowing what my future path would be to bless me with an answer to a prayer that later brought me back to Him.

I'm relatively new to your UA-cam channel. I love and appreciate what you're doing! I have felt for the last year or so that, much in the same way we've seen a number of lifelong church members lose their faith, that a time would come when we would see a trend in the other direction with many coming back to the faith. I've felt this, and now see the beginning of this with your awesome channel. This interview is outstanding. The story is outstanding. But then again, I haven't watched any of your interviews without thinking, "this is outstanding". Again, thank you for the good work you're doing. I've shared a number of these interviews with friends of mine that have left the church. I don't know what will happen to any of these friends in their faith (or lack thereof) journey. I don't need to know. What I believe is, that they are part of the Lord's plan whether they are in or out of the church, as all of us are. They arent' lost to the Lord whether they are aware of it or not, again, as we all are. This interview is evidence to me of that sentiment, which for me was personal inspiration that came at a time when I was a little distressed that some close friends of mine had left the church. A big fish in my mind is John Dehlin. I've listened to Mormon Stories for about 15 yrs, back when John Dehlin was still a believer. I watched his transition out of Faith to where he is now. I believe that while maybe John Dehlin won't come back to his faith, that other prominent anti-LDS figures will come back. Thank you again for this awesome interview and all the interviews you've don't so far. I didn't mean to do such a lenghty comment, but I wanted you to hear this (which I assume you've already heard many times before) and have one more, of many, thank you's from the ether... And thanks to this good brother as well!

I then reached out to him a couple of years later because our son (a returned missionary too) called to tell us he's left the Church - removed his name from the records and everything!!!
Our son's moved far away from us and shut off contact with us!! But Dusty calmed me down and said he believed that my son will come back.
So whether our son comes back in this life or not at least I'll lean on that message from Dusty.

God answered my prayers more time than I deserved. I didn't get it from arguing with people, with using my eloquent words to persuade others itnis true. Love is kind, it envieth not, it doesn't boast and is not afraid. God's truth and Gospel isn't often seen from the eyes or heard from the ears, it must be experienced from the over abundance of love that is available to all. Thanks for the lesson! I'm grateful to God for this resounding win against the adversary.

My faith over the years was dwindling terribly . Because my father left the church even though he had been in the bishop brick . My brother gave up on the church years ago and thinks the church is all about money. He won't even discuss it anymore. And dad has nothing but animosity toward the church because he asked for help with mom when she had Alzheimer's . Even when I told him that they are doing the best they can do. There are so many members to take care and they have me and Noreen my wife here to help. They didn't know that me and Noreen were also taking care of her father who had dementia and missing his legs. And I was working 5 12s and a eight. So sleep was in short supply. And so dad couldn't leave mon alone and he had grandma who was also loosing it and all were at home. Finally they all went to a nursing home. But we did this caring for all for about 4 years. He became frustrated with the church. I couldn't get him to understand. He wasn't rich. At all. And so he was about ready to kill himself , not joking . So now my mother is gone , and that was wonderful blessing because my wife saw her the day she died , was standing before her all in white smiling at her and she was beautiful. And then she disappeared. My wife said Richard , she was solid looking . She was right there before me . And then she was gone. How I know she was telling the truth. Is me , dad , and Danny were the only ones that knew she was a brunette and not a blonde. She said her hair was brown and long. That is when I knew she was completely truthful , and so you know I never doubt my wife. But my dad wouldn't listen . And even I started to have doubts about the church because I became so depressed over the last 9 years of loosing my job going blind, can hardly walk now. But then I started listening hugh nibly he is wonderful. And all of my doubts have left immediately . He had me realizing how truthful the book of Mormon is and much more so then even the Bible. My faith is now so strong and stand fast.

Maybe that is thr spirit urging you to find out why people leave. What you consider hateful is not usually. Most people who leave, for so many valid reasons, go through a time of being angry. Righteous anger.

Thank you for sharing Dusty's story.
Listening to "anti-Mormons" is like asking Judas about Jesus Christ. If you're a member with doubts, taking inventory of your life and turning God in prayer and reading the Book of Mormon for answers is the best thing to do. Be as King Lamoni's father.
Alma 22:18 "O God, Aaron hath told me that there is a God; and if there is a God, and if thou art God, wilt thou make thyself known unto me, and I will give away all my sins to know thee, and that I may be raised from the dead, and be saved at the last day."
Like Dusty, there was a time when I would argue with anti-Mormons. Then, something happened to me that proved to me the Book of Mormon was the word of God. It didn't "just happen", I had been reading the Book of Mormon and praying for answers.
After receiving that sure witness that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, I made up my mind not to contend with others. Instead, I've often said something to the effect, "I don't debate what I know to be true. The knowledge I've received from God is not up for debate or ridicule."

      Don't listen to "anti Mormons."
      Just look up Mormon sources.
You'll soon see the problems yourself... without anyone else's interpretation, biases, motivation affecting you.

It’s interesting you say that. To me The Book of Mormon is the most anti LDS book out there. All you need to do is open your eyes and ears and read with the spirit and you will be testified too by the words of Christ and the holy prophets in the Book of Mormon of your false traditions in the LDS religion. The Book is the word of God. Stop getting to parts in the book that contradict your LDS traditions and actually believe the words of Christ in the Book of Mormon. Remove your stumbling blocks and come to Jesus Christ with a broken heart and a contrite spirit. If you do not know what I’m talking about than you truly haven’t read the book. I’ll give you one example. The BOM teaches very clear that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. Ponder that with God to get an answer. I know he is my God in the flesh. Do you?

I appreciate how motivated he is to tell his story. I’m sure he knows it’ll be remarked on by many people, including me. Since I’m a member of the same church, I have my own bias. I’ve enjoyed listening to his story and all I have to say is this: he is sharing his personal relationship with Deity and how it continues to shape his life. Each of us either have chosen to have this type of relationship or other relationships important to us. I presume our relationships are so important to us that we exhibit the same level of conviction and commitment as Dusty has.

Although I never left the Church, I can relate to your faith struggles that come from focusing on the members and not the Lord. The Gospel is true. The Lord is perfect (3Nephi 12:48). Stay strong brother!
