I'm a musician and liked these guys in highschool. At the time based on. The album cover I thought they were just a singing group. I didn't realize they played their own instruments. Man these guess are legit musicians.

Yes indeed! It brought us great joy to be able to play our music and make people happy! Herb,Rahiem and I are blessed that everyone still remember us and are grateful.
Stevie Beatz Adorno great music will always be remembered by the people who know I love early music from the 50s Elvis Presley Brook Benton Fats Domino and I love this era of Music late 70s early 80s groups such as this Teena Marie Stephanie Mills the soul Funk era was great and the love R&B ballads but anyhow this song is so electrifying it has a party type the spiritual feeling behind it once again this group is outstanding and has so many other songs that should have been higher on the charts really underrated group should be well more known thank you
Who are the 2 rhythmless fools that disliked this perfect song ? Your on the wrong planet. I was 7 when this dropped, and got heavy play at home....I will never grow tired of this song.
When we used to go out on Friday and Saturday nights to boogie down and get all sweaty and have all kinds of fun movin the body to the groove music. When were were at the dock's , the club opened at midnight an we danced till we were dripping sweat till 9am..... real groove music
I just discovered this song recently while listening to XM. This is the joint! This is before my time, but it makes me wish that I could have experienced this music first hand. Must have been great times!
I always loved GQ's music. My favorite fingerfunk bass player, Keith Crier, had a groove unlike anything I heard since Bernard Edwards (damn he's gone too) Keith, you're 1 of a kind. RIP my brother.
When we used to go out on Friday and Saturday nights to boogie down and get all sweaty and have all kinds of fun moovin the body to the groove music. Wake up the next morning and go to the beach and swim about a thousand yards all over the place, then eat like ravenous creatures who never saw food before. Who needed alcohol or drugs?! Even the chunky folks were healthy and IN SHAPE. And if not, you were lean, lean, lean!
The Jordache/Sasson Era! I miss these days..I was six years old being turned out on these sounds..GQ and CHIC, PATRICK ADAMS were the glue in keeping that FUNK alive in the late 70's post "G&H" reign.. They have an alternate version of this song with a longer conga break that sounds a lot "dirtier" in the mix. I can only hear it on the cable stations...I have "Soul on Your Side" already another monster..Their version of "Boogie Oogie" is waaaaayy better. Much respect to GQ!!
i liked this song more than most others , and he drummer will read this, seguida, small world, would think very many would want to write something to a member of the band here but only 23 , soon more when the word gets out.
my God! these guys have rhythm in the blood, high performance, they loved playing, composing, singing and making everyone dancing on the dance floor, I love this song
Thank you K ! Sadly there’s not much of us 0riginal band playing live on video . And the videos that are out now are in no way the original band so the sound isn’t the same.

Rahiem is easily one of the kindest brothers that there is. It's a pleasure to be able to have seen him do his thing 2 weeks ago at The Sugar Bar. Hopefully, the video will be up to par & we can get them up here on youtube. The brother still sounds great today & you can take that to the bank!

These highly inspired musicians seem to be drenched in a special "calling" in this captivating performance. What a study!
I was a little kid when this group came out. Looking at this video now, the band is amazing. Phenomenal musicians. By the way Raheim was adorable then, he is adorable now.
Let's not forget that they were called The Rhythm Makers before renaming themselves GQ. And "Disco Nights" got a first version on The Rhythm Makers LP on Vigor Records... search for the song "SOUL ON YOUR SIDE" to hear that early version...
