Thumbnail art from X-Corp #3 - written by Tini Howard with art by Valentine De Landro and colors by Sunny Gho.
In this video I explain the benefit of working from a distance when it comes to drawing your characters, and how it can help with their composition - their pose, their placement, shape, anatomy, proportions and the other fundamental ingredients that help to solidify their framework.
Working from a zoomed out perspectives gives you a clear visual of how the overall piece is coming together as a whole - it gives us a read on how the key elements direct the viewers attention, and indeed where the primary points of focus reside within the art itself.
If we want to have any level of agency in the viewer's experience of our work, this is how - by laying out the road map their eye will follow through the composition of our art.
