Lou and I are so grateful for the chance to get to know this family and share their story with you. We've learned so much from our time not only at their farm but also exploring the taro fields they are planting. This visit was especially profound for us both because we got to experience the traditional process of making poi. Poi is made by hand-pounding the boiled taro plant and has been part of Hawaiian culture for centuries. Daniel has a great TedTalk and during it, he makes poi from start to finish! I'd highly recommend you give it a watch if you want to learn more - • What you put in your m...
I hope you learn something new during this video and it inspires you to support your local farmers and who knows maybe even inspires you to start planting food for yourself and your family!

Thank you for sharing this update! It’s so hard to look at agriculture in the US and not feel so discouraged. I’m having trouble even finding a farmer’s market here in the Dallas area that’s not just a junk market with no food at all! It’s so frustrating. And then thinking about the fact that we are destroying the land with factory farming breaks my heart. But this is a little glimmer of hope that we can make changes. 😍😍

I couldn't agree more--meeting and seeing Daniel and Alohi (and their whole family and wider community) work here is so deeply inspiring and motivating. These glimmers of hope, as you so eloquently put it, are so important to see, we are so grateful to have met them and have the opportunity to share their story with our community here ❤ Thanks for watching, and wishing you a beautiful week over in Dallas, Susan!

That's Aloha, Ohana and Pono. Hawaii's people and their hearts are sweeter and more beautiful than all the flowers in The Islands.
Most commercial farmers and gardeners I know grow food that grows especially sweet in the lava grown soil...you can eat Maui onions like an apple , they're THAT sweet! But be careful because you'll STILL have onion breath😆 the lettuce is insane and the coffee beans and Macadamia nuts are famous around the world ! As for gardening I know people with pretty small flower acres that make great livings!
Best of love and good fortune to them.

Daniel reminds me of Joel Saletan in the 70s. Speaking from the heart, they both believe in taking care of the earth, raising sustainable and enriching food, family and community. I'm going to share this on my FB page. I watch so many homesteading channels and this strikes a similar chord. Thanks for a window into Hawaiian farming life.🌼❣

Daniel speaks from the heart. He reminds me of Joel Saliton, from the 70s, he is a big proponent of this lifestyle and loving the earth, providing the healthiest way to grow food, family and community. Same! I'm going to share this video on my Facebook page.
Thank you for this amazing window into Hawaiian farming tradition.

I’m going to start working on an organic sustainable farm next week and I’m so excited to learn more about the earth and how we can work in union with it and build community through it. I’m also a writer and a self proclaimed researcher and data collector of life, so I can’t wait to begin documenting what I learn. This video feels really affirming for me, and I can really feel that these people are living and speaking from
their hearts. I’ve been following you guys since the van and I’m continually inspired by you.

Thank you for making this video! I've just started my own journey making similar videos about people around the world that are doing good things for the planet, and just the other day I heard about ancient hawaiian agriculture and the crazy number of different sweet potatoes they used to have. So this video was the first one I clicked when I started my research.
Going to Hawaii in January so hopefully I have a solid plan by then :)
    Keep up the good work!

You both are such a joy to watch as you grow as a couple and as a family. I have been watching you both for over a year and have had the privilege to pray for you many times on your journey. I don't know if anyone has ever taken the moment to tell you about Jesus and about his amazing and free gift of salvation. But over 2000 years ago he was beaten and tortured and left to hang on a cross for my and your sins. So that we can have eternal salvation through him. There is NO OTHER NAME IN WHOCH YOUAY BE SAVED BUT JESUS CHRIST.
I thank you for the privilege of watching your family grow and I know if you seek Jesus on your journey your lives will only richly be blessed way more than it is now.
I have seen God's hand iny life pull me through some dangerous situations. He gavee a vision a week before a car accident I was going to have so I could pray. And they day came but the outcome was different than what I seen in the vision because of the Lord having his hand ony life. He has saved me from an attempt of being kidnapped. He recently gave me dreams and spoke to me about what is about to come upon the world. In December of 2020 he told me to begin stocking up food because a famine is coming. We began hearing of shortages mid 2021. God is faithful an just and will save all who call upon his name.❤❤
