Love it! This kind of living is my goal. Usually I get jealous when I see people living like this, but not w Joel and his ohana. I haven’t seen Joel in over 15 years and I was smiling watching this, and happy to see him and his family doing so well. He is a truly good, kind and honest man. Thank you for sharing this. I am inspired. God is good.
Awesome. Good to see local families being smart and doing things as a family and living off the grid. It looks like you're doing very well. Best wishes for continued success. It's a nice property and splendid work done by everyone.
Total respect for you guys. I was just thinking that, that Oahu could be self sustainable. Living on a 3 day supply and turning everything into residential is just wreckless.
The pandemic was the perfect time for our government to push and support all of our amazing farmers, ranchers, and fisherman, but instead they were more concerned about when tourists could come back to start filling up those hotel rooms again. Our government preaches sustainability, but they’re really not interested.
@@waimeagrl5142 Trust me, everyone knows about how bad the government in Hawaii is when they do nothing about the outrageous rent and ballooning cost of living. Not to mention the reprehensible way Ige behaved over the TMT issue. However, it is totally up to farmers and fisherman to remake the aina and not worry about the tourists (they'll come and buy some). There's still plenty of land that is in your hands and plenty of time to discourage development since it presents a serious security risk. Mainlanders 100% support Hawaiian farmers, fisherman, ranchers (and hunters). If you need any help from us just let us know. I sure would love some smoke meat again.
Happy to see Christian families striving and thriving even through the hard parts. Wonderful to have your entire family together. That is my prayer and my dream, to have a farm where all three of my children and all five grandchildren can live close together. God bless you all, you have a new subscriber, I really enjoyed watching your story. And boy.......what a beautiful place to live. The Bible says we are not to envy, you guys make that a tough one!
Admire and envy are too different things...envy the good without wanting get it by forcefully taking it from others or making yourself miserable if you don't have it..but wanting to have good things for yourself... nothing is wrong with that and other people can open your horizon
I Live in the tropics (Taiwan) and so happy to see this, especially a Christian family! We need more to encourage each other! What a blessing!!! God bless
You are extremely inspiring! I'm very touched by your beautiful, intelligent children. They have a future in Hawaii and will thrive because of your guidance. May God bless your journey my brother. And keep you all safe and out of harms way.🙏🙏🙏
Very inspiring!! I just returned from a 2 months stayed in Oahu, visiting and learning as much as I could from that beautiful paradise you guys live in. That land is so rich and productive! I could see the similarities with the place where I grew up in Colombia with mountains and fresh produce all year. It’s wonderful what you guys are doing! I wish I saw this video one week ago so I could visit you guys. My best wishes for that family goal you have. Blessings
I honestly am reluctant to share this because they have so much love with them that I wouldn't want to even place this vid somewhere were negative energy or trolling could access this. Man, this was so nice.
Living the dream!!! I would say you are a very successful man Joel because of your family values and good friends and the way you are living off of the land. Just how our Heavenly Father planned for us to live from the very beginning. Aloha!!!
This is a fantastic story about an amazing family (ies...I guess 2 families...). I'm struck by the dedication and faith of these guys...not caught up in the nonsense of our culture...focusing on the basics of faith, family, friends and farming! Great video thanks.
“nonsense of our culture”?? Since when is learning, appreciating, & perpetuating the cultural traditions of our kupuna considered “nonsense?” What an absolutely insensitive and jackassery remark!!
@kailani maybe he's talking about the constant and ongoing DIVISION of Hawaiian people. Caused by a lack of education, inexperience, political turmoil, and misunderstanding of other people. I have never experienced so much hatred and violence in such a beautiful place as in Hawaii. It's a shame it's that way. Especially for children, they shouldn't grow up learning hatred for others.
Thanks for sharing their story. Beautiful people inside and out. Great example of family-time and the benefits of raising a family that understands self sufficiency.
Where in Hawaii are you living? It's so beautiful. I see videos of Hawaii but nobody tells what Island and where. You have an amazing garden. We try to live the same way here in Show Lo Arizona.
awesome video and thanks for sharing such a wonderful and inspiring life experience! did you ever try for the plants EM (Effective Microorganisms)? Some people have wonderful experiences with their plants, all the best!
At 7:54, she mentions a farm school they were offering via UH (University of Hawaii). Could someone please offer a link to that farm school? Thank you!
Hello ...I think what your going is awesome. I bought a 2 acre aqua phonics farm that’s off the grid and I’m looking forward to making it grow like you all are doing.
Trust me this video makes it out to be easy, simple etc..... If you don't have well over a million dollars in the bank then Hawaiʻi is not the place for you because even if you may want to live sustainably and off the grid its still expensive as f*ck. You are way better off in the mainland than in Hawai'i.
I remember Joel well from Barber's pt when I was a lifeguard there. Glad to see he's doing so well, great kid and surfer.

Watching this absolutely fulfills my heart. I couldn’t stop crying. May God bless your family fruitfully
Love it when kids are interested in the outdoors. Especially gardening. Such a wholesome and productive way of living. Rewarding actually. Beautiful!!

I’ve been prepping to live like this for the last few years. Just beautiful
LOVE!!! This right here is the way we should all live. Those kids are the cutest - what a great life they have!
Classic stuffs, you guys rule. Best way ever for the groms to grow up. Learning about the outdoors and being in nature.

Watched this film on the airplane coming to US; incredible, so inspiring!
Awesome. This is what a true blessing is!! Materialistic things can never compete with the joy that this family has living this lifestyle.
💯💜🇯🇲
How much do you think that land costs? More than any house most people can afford.

Even though the beaches are beautiful, I would prefer the higher elevations also. This lifestyle is especially beautiful. I really admire this family.

I want to be a farm hand in Hawaii. I live in the mainland. I have no experience in farming but I need to get back down to mother earth.
