I think the shelves are nice. I used a couple black wire shelves to start veggies and flowers etc. I had the same tipping problem with small square pots on the shelves. I decided I needed something clear & kinda solid & waterproof to line the bottom of the shelves so the light could go through (even though each shelf had lights lol) Hubby went to HD and looked around and he ended up getting some clear acrylic sheets/panels made for ceiling lights. He trimmed them down to fit the shelves. That was prob 10 yrs ago and they are still good.
I watched the pantry shelf install and saw you find every stud and you recorded and explained well as you do in every video! It looks awesome and very sturdy and you did an amazing job, Andrew. The shelf liner is a great addition.
Love you attention to detail. I personally am not a fan of wire shelving (I don't care for the look) but that line really made a big difference! I love that you are very particular in every thing that you do. Your house looks amazing. Congrats! Last weekend I binge watched your house building episodes. Very nice job on your build!

Hi, Andrew! I’m a little late watching because for the next two weeks I will be working at the polls for early voting in the North Carolina primary. I absolutely loved this video. The finishing touches complete the neat and clean look of your home. My curtain rods are black and mounted above the windows in the bedrooms and living room of my house. I also have sheer white curtains on all of them. Just blinds in the kitchen and bathroom. I am eager to see you and Tiffany Sunday night.
Andrew, you have a better chance of having your roof blow off than your pantry shelving falling off the wall. You did an awesome job installing those shelves. We have had the same shelving for many years and it still looks great. Just a little care taken when loading or unloading them and they will last a very long time. I agree 100% with you that using the sheet rock anchors are a waste of time and those will definitely fail with any substantive weight placed on them over time.
Man the Shelf look so nice Andrew. I really like how you have it organized. I like the Shelf covering too it looks really really nice man. The curtains that you hung up in the house looks very very nice as well. Look like you got a little bit of sun man. Good video buddy. I hope you and Tiffany have a good weekend.
That liner you picked is a good choice. It works well in cabinets or drawers for preventing this from sliding too much as well. Or just protecting the cabinet base from wear.
Great info. EZ Ancor drywall toggles (yup, Lowes gets the credit once again!!) are a great alternative if ya can't find the stud...from towel racks to toilet roll holders, got no time for the drywall wiggles with included inferior hardware on shelving items. Installed the same shelving in a master closet, still hanging in there
I put a bunch of the wire shelving up about 28 years ago. Everything mounted into a stud. looking at your setup I recommend buying two more upright poles and space them into that long open stretch.
Chanced the terrible wind today went on a quick trip spearfishing mainly to just get out of the house, managed to get a mess. The sheephead were at the double palm tree’s in that channel near the boulders big time! Needed you and that single prong!
I know what you mean about sunlight in the bedroom. I do shift work for a week on a monthly rotation. I have a nice dark bedroom in my basement for that, but I do like your solution of adding that blocking layer against the window. I might have to get that for my upstairs bedroom, because room darkening blinds alone don't get it done 100%. It's amazing how much style and function that shelf liner added to your situation. Downright sexy!
I worked 3rd shit for 3 years. I could not sleep with light in the room. I blacked out with black poster board. It had leaks the very best I could do. So I went and bought some craft foam and cut it and glued it to the edges out about 2 inches. Compressed in the opening , no more light.
Nice finishing touches...I was anxious to see the final look for the pantry and closet. Looks like it should make the Kelley's Country Life very functional for Tiff and Andrew.
I have wire shelving in my closet (6 years), they’re full with clothes and just as sturdy as when they were installed. I’m sure most of us know who’s one who has had them fall, and id say they weren’t properly installed. I have the silicone type shelf liner for non hanging items
I made 1/4 inch plywood shelf covers for my shelves. Overhung the front edge by 3/4 of an inch. Simple notches for the hardware and the uprights. Trimmed the front with 1x2’s and boxed out the uprights with a ripped 1x2 and a 1x3 to make the uprights look beefier. Covered everything with decorative contact paper. One of my first honey-do projects of March 2020. About $100 in material to upgrade but it looks like a more custom install from existing wire shelves.
That shelving isn't going anywhere. I have wire racks and didn't know they made something for the tops. Definitely will be getting some for my shelves!
I have the same shelving in my garage with probably half the support you have on yours Andrew and I haven't had a bit of trouble with it, knock on wood. And I have it loaded down with motorcycle gear and other things.

Underneath the vegetables, I wouldn’t use the rubber, you kind of want something that will breathe. They make shower mats that are kind of a spongy mesh and they even have a little suction cups on them that will probably keep it from sliding around because the suction cups will go down through the wire holes, but I would do something like that or like those tool shelf liners that are breathable foam rubber so your vegetables can breathe and aren’t stuck on rubber or they might get bad spots. I really like the rubber for the shelves in the ribs on it will keep stuff from sliding around, I’ll probably look for that if I ever end up with wire shelves again.

There is actually an old way of window treatments in order to save on energy. The old way is to have double curtain rods installed with a heavy inner curtain and shear outer curtain are also in contact with the floor such that the draft is mitigated a little during winters.
