The people working on this show have been dealing with comedians doing stupid shit for years. But it takes Kiell earnestly announcing that he planned to kill himself by running into traffic for us to finally hear a sound or camera person audibly suppress laughter.
I hope they do more of these, this was hilarious. Kiell is the perfect person to start with as well because he has the right combination of competitiveness and regrets. I would pay cash money to see James Acaster's Ultimate Episode.
I wasn't sold on the format at first, because watching people watch things can be rough, but it was really interesting hearing about Kiell's approach to tasks and how seriously he takes imitation.
Yeah, I think something you commonly wonder when watching the show is "What were they thinking?" Especially when a particular solution to a task just seems really bonkers. Plus it's interesting to see how salty people actually are lol.
Good idea for a series, especially during the lull time between series. The fans often ask for people to return, but Alex wants to keep it fresh and not incentivize losing. It’s always fun to hear people talk about Taskmaster after they’ve been on.

I love Taskmaster to such an extent that I really think it's easily the best programme to watch. It brightens my day (or even life). Thank you Big Alex Horne for conceiving it. The choice of the contestants is so spot on.
I agree about the stupid task. Kiell was robbed. He was told to do something stupid. Even if that wasn't the stupid thing he was trying to do, it was damn stupid.
The Champions of Champions episode where the first thing he says is muttering under his breath and bitter about the pineapple still is quite possibly the funniest part of this hilarious show.

I was disappointed Mae wasn't going to be in the Champion of Champions, but Kiell getting in there was the best possible alternative. Especially given his delightful tendency to get pissed at everything that doesn't go his way lmao. One of the best TM contestants of all time.

we can see it - might not've been able to a couple of months back, but last night after the first ep of series 18 i had a scroll back of the channel's uploads to where i last watched a vid at the end of may just after series 17 had finished, and there these all were waiting for me - plus the s18 interviews as i didnt realise it was on last night until i got home from the evening's dog walk and turned the telly onto channel 4 news and just happened to look at the tv guide whilst doing so. i'd mentally tuned out of all the recent "daddy's back" trailer repeats thinking they were still saying "coming soon" at the end. i really enjoyed that TMclass ep at the end of s17 and apparently we should be getting the 2nd ep of that after the final of s18 (according to wiki)... one of the regulars in these comments (taotology) has a bee in their bonnet about the dropping of picture-in-picture reaction shots of the contestants in the studio watching the playback to the 'theatre'/studio of their tasks, which they had in the early dave series then dropped; i guess this provides that footage to some delayed degree for them.
The potato catching task was very weirdly phrased, if I remember right Ivo actively refused to use a pen because he thought it would break the 'no touch' rule. I feel like if the task was in an earlier series, Ivo and Kiell would get a bonus point for not touching anything.
If you enjoy him on TM show, you have to listen to his most recent visit on the TM podcast with Ed. I play it on repeat over and over. It never gets old.

I couldn’t understand why no one just put the glass horizontally in a plugged bath/sink, turned on the tap at a low flow and travelled far away. Once it were submerged it would be completely full and thus also full to the line.

Joe Wilkinson's task didn't say get this potato in the hole and know on the throw that that'll be the throw, intent has never been a mandatory qualification people back their way into points all the time on this show. i think it's fair to give Jenny some slack (no sure that much) since she is about twice as old. I always found it unfair that these things play no role. Maybe they do in how far Alex is willing to help.
We know on screen he physically helped her on the pineapple task and turning the wheel for the pulper. It's possible there were other times he gave her a hand that we just didn't see; I doubt she will have been shy about asking for assistance if she needed it any other times :)
all of them say the season and episode number on the Card with the taskname at the start, with th exception of the COC one which just says COC since it was one ep and not numbered
@@krablord technically his CoC was CoC III (that's iii, roman numerals, not one hundred and eleven), but i guess theyre relying on people's intelligence to interpret that out of the three CoCs to date, his will be the one where he's a stand-in and not the other two that predate his series.
I’m so with Kiell regarding the potato task. Everyone else touched something- the hat, pen and paper, whatever. He touched NOTHING. He should have won and everyone else should have been DQ’d.
So confused by this. I assumed the premise would be that the comedian (well, the production team actually) would select from the tasks where they got 5 or 4 points on, building an artificial best possible performance for the contestant, who could joke boast and be goofily celebrated. But here we don't even see the scores for the tasks, and one of them had Kiell being disqualified. This is *such* a fantastic idea for a clip show, but it seemed to sorta stop short of its potential. That said, the all-new commentary on (and the tight re-editing of) each task really adds a lot, so it was of course still a great watch. Looking forward to more.
We all know that Kiell's ultimate episode would include Greg saying "No, of course you're right, those aren't pineapples"

I couldn’t understand why no one just put the glass horizontally in a plugged bath/sink, turned on the tap at a low flow and travelled far away. Once it were submerged it would be completely full and thus also full to the line.

No I'll go to war over the accidentally stupid thing. Joe Wilkinson's task didn't say get this potato in the hole and know on the throw that that'll be the throw, intent has never been a mandatory qualification people back their way into points all the time on this show. That one is taskmaster -gate tier for sure, this goes up with potatogate hopgate Rob-Beckett-should-have-got-potatogate'd and the rest of 'em for biggest taskmaster offenses, at least for me. You can say intent is implied all you want, if you need me to go through this series and tally up all the points awarded to accidents I'll do it don't make me do it I have things to do this weekend a hurricane that hit nearly the other side of the country just tore my garden up today, don't make me do it. People get awarded points for accidents *all the time* and that's not what people online are shouting about Greg, you creating a new Beckettgate is not solving the taskmaster -gate problem. i think it's fair to give Jenny some slack (no sure that much) since she is about twice as old. I always found it unfair that these things play no role. Maybe they do in how far Alex is willing to help.

Apparently Jenny had surgery quite recently before filming so needed some help with the more physical tasks
We know on screen he physically helped her on the pineapple task and turning the wheel for the pulper. It's possible there were other times he gave her a hand that we just didn't see; I doubt she will have been shy about asking for assistance if she needed it any other times :)

all of them say the season and episode number on the Card with the taskname at the start, with th exception of the COC one which just says COC since it was one ep and not numbered
@@krablord technically his CoC was CoC III (that's iii, roman numerals, not one hundred and eleven), but i guess theyre relying on people's intelligence to interpret that out of the three CoCs to date, his will be the one where he's a stand-in and not the other two that predate his series.

I'm begging the TM staff to improve the audio of these episodes. I love them so much but its so muddy and echo-y
So confused by this. I assumed the premise would be that the comedian (well, the production team actually) would select from the tasks where they got 5 or 4 points on, building an artificial best possible performance for the contestant, who could joke boast and be goofily celebrated. But here we don't even see the scores for the tasks, and one of them had Kiell being disqualified. This is *such* a fantastic idea for a clip show, but it seemed to sorta stop short of its potential. That said, the all-new commentary on (and the tight re-editing of) each task really adds a lot, so it was of course still a great watch. Looking forward to more.
