- The infallible Greg Davies returns to host a mighty new series of Taskmaster. In the opening episode, new contestants Dara O Briain, Fern Brady, John Kearns, Munya Chawawa and Sarah Millican fumble frozen peas and shout about fish, while Greg's ever-loyal puppy, Little Alex Horne, lurks furtively in the background.

In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
I'm amazed that there was no comment in the studio about how John just guessed Se7en based on "what 10 films am I in?"
your comment made me realize that the answer he got right was that his head is in a box *spoiler* like the movie Se7en.

Fern's repeated "Oh no!" in the loo roll task reminded me of Scott Ramsay's "No way!"

the fact that nobody mentioned that he got the extra movie guess with Seven beforehand and that nobody else got it is beyond me. that was wild. A head in a box was the clue, so good.

I had no clue. The box in Se7en is just plain brown, and the head isn't in the best health.
I just want to congratulate you on correctly calling it "Seven", which is the name of the film; as opposed to "Se7en", which is a (very clever - look how it caught on) graphic designer's logo.
This doesn't make me a pedantic nerd. I always was a pedantic nerd.
For the record, if the film really was called "Se7en", it would always and ever be presented that way in all marketing materials. The fact that it's easy to find promos of the film as "Seven" means that "Se7en" is merely a visual affectation, and not the actual name of the film.

@@scrivener68 You're overlooking the fact that language is a functional, social thing. If people at large associate Se7en with this film, then it becomes a title, if not 'the' title. It's certainly easier to draw the association when it's not just a capitalized, commonplace number.
This is from someone who hates the design for making abso-fucking-lootly no sense. Seven neither looks or sounds like a 'v'. That's not how 1337 works 7 being 'T'. It's just weird to my brain. And yet! I accept completely it's adoption by people as the way to write the title.
@@jessesutton7985 I'm with you part of the way, but this is a title. It's like, no matter how many people call it "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas," that doesn't change the fact that it's "How The Grinch Stole Christmas." The title of the film is "Seven."
As for how weird it is, yeah, totally on board there, except for me it looks like a Z. I always read it as "Sezen."
I'm in genuine disbelief that no one saw the bird Dara talked about, after hearing him explain, I couldn't unsee it.
I genuinely saw a Turkey in theirs. 🦃

Literally the first thing any of them did on the show, but Alex knew.
i mean... they film the tasks before they do the live shows, so i assume alex got a pretty clear picture on how john was doing in this season
Well, considering Alex has seen the tasks and wrote the script, yes, he did know. Because it's his job to know. (And here's a secret, Greg knows most of this, too. He has talked about watching the footage during editing on the show.)
The way things worked out, I started with Episode 2 and looped back around after like Episode 8, I think that made this first episode all the funnier 😂
My friend: "So have you checked out any of that Taskmaster show I showed you a couple weeks ago?"
Me on the 14th season: "... Yeah I've watched a few episodes. Pretty good so far. I'll probably watch more."
I watched series 14 for Dara and Sarah, but Fern Brady completely stole the show. You guys who haven't seen this series yet are in for a treat.
Fern and John were the ones I knew the least and loved the most.

That's not such a surprise - custom knitting has to be done by hand, and it takes real skill to produce something that looks like a person, let alone something that is recognizeable as a specific person.
I cannot wait for more people to see John unravel through this series
John's descent into madness is definitely a highlight of the series
And Dara have increasing meltdowns due to John's... "incompetence"... 😂

The hauntingly beautiful music and shot when John let loose his paper airplane, lovely.
The “what 10 films are you in” round is one of my all-time Taskmaster favorites. I quite enjoyed their looks with their box heads.
10:00 To be fair to Fern, ‘Boomerang’ is a movie with Eddie Murphy and Robin Givens.
But what movie are the box heads supposed to be? Face/Off?
@@Cedar_Wolf Se7en. Someone guessed it correctly in the introduction. The box is actually a spoiler, but it's a rather old movie by now.
Couldn't they have taken off the boxes? The task made no reference to them having to wear those over their heads.
Also, The Rock is a movie too with Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage.
I want to point out as well, that Im surprised nobody took the box off. As nowhere in the task did it say it was required.

Even though she’s older than me. I find fern Brady to be the most adorable person ever. I’d never heard of her til this show and I’m so excited for the rest of the series. As an American with no other access to this show, thank you for posting these on UA-cam and sparking my love for British comedy.

I finished series 13 yesterday after binge watching all episodes in 1,5 month. I was really sad that there are no more episodes to watch. Now I see you started uploading series 14. As I live in Germany you made me really happy with this. Thank you so much!
As I really loved the bunch of series 13 I have to get used to the new contestants. But that happens almost always with the new group. Excited!
This is my comfort series. The bets one I keep coming back to when I feel down. Love Fern and everyone. So many good characters

I had just watched clips up to this being released and I feel so bad that Fern did all of this basically needing to wee the entire time. How she did anything during the draw bird task is incredible.
Im sorry but in the first task when they are asked to guess the films and Sarah Millican holds a plastic gun and says ... Gundi ... is the funniest moment of any series of this shoe ...

Genuinely upset that all the other films were wordplay and puns, and then no one explained that "head in a box" WASN'T wordplay.
I just rewatched this season and completed the last episode last night. But seeing it on the official TM channel is the only reason i need to rewatch it all over again. I think this is my favorite season (so far) and there's constant laughs even on repeat.

Boomerang IS a movie. It's from 1992 and has Eddie Murphy, Halle Berry and tons of Black actors. It's a classic. The soundtrack is🔥🔥🔥

I always wonder about the titles for the episodes. Both "Should I have a tactic?" and "That's not a bird!" seem better quotes to me.
To be honest, I actually do see a bird, with the head and beak on the left, the wing and body on the right.
