love this design, great idea for bodyweight. the best value/versatile design i've seen for weights ( basically two free-standing squat rack posts) is the classic home-depot bucket filled with cement and 3 2x4s stuck into it. with a barbell on a squat rack post, you can do pullups and straight bar dips too. for any suspension rings exercises, just feed the two rings straps through the top of a closed door with a knotted towel to stop it pulling through.
it's pretty crazy but that's all u need for like 90% of weightlifting, no squat rack is even needed, if u do front squats. with only a barbell, u may have to settle with floor press ( in place of bench press), but honestly pushups (progressing into one handed pushups) are enough.
Though I haven't been working out regularly recently, the bodyweight fitness subreddit is one of the best communities I've seen. Glad to see them plugged here.
Finally. Not a great video as far as step by step instructions, but the design is excellent. Adjustable width, removeable dip bars makes this amazing. That way you create an integrated pullup/dip structure. And you added the bar rests that could be used for a barbell rest and not just a pushup incline. So bench press + pullups + dips design included!!! Great job!!! I was going to build this as 4/4 post sunk in cement structure in the backyard but switched to making it an indoor garage structure because of your video. There is no other pullup/dip homemade video on youtube I've found that has a better design than yours. Most of them are non-integrated garbage.
Great build! I enjoyed watching this come together and it looks quite sturdy. One suggestion is to use a hole saw to make a hole on each side of the push up bar supports, at the bottom, to be able to slide in another pipe to do sit-ups. This would help keep your feet down and planted.
When drilling holes into wood your speed is key. you dont want to go slow the faster the bit is going the cleaner the hole will be. BUT the big thing you need to watch is the pressure your putting on the wood. Let the drill do its just use just enough pressure for it to bite then adjust pressure as needed until you get just about thru you want to use the least amount of pressure possible to reduce chance of blow out
That's awesome! I (Tim) was just talking about wanting to build a pull up/dip piece of equipment to have at the house.. Thanks for the video and steps to build it 🤠
I had similar thoughts about working out at home and installed a pull-up bar in the rafters in my basement. I then started looking for something to do dips and discovered gymnastic rings. They’re an entire portable gym! In hindsight, I would have skipped the pull-up bar and screwed in a couple of eyebolts for the ring straps. For about $50 you have an entire gym that you can workout with inside or outside and take with you on trips.
Belts And Boxes basically it’s whatever liquor you have in the cabinet. You’ll want to find whatever juice you have in the fridge. You can also my simple syrup if you. Pour the liquor in the glass. Then put back all the mixers you thought you could use. Voila!! Quarantini 😇🍸
There are no measurements in the plans to illustrate the final dimensions. I’m not too familiar with sketch up but I tried to use the tape measure feature and I think it’s about 6’ 8 1/2” tall?
First time here, hmm what fun! Looking forward to the garden bed build... I use an elevated planter on legs, as bending over is no longer a physical option. Curious to see what you do :)
Looks like I found one of my next projects! Definitely don't have the cash to make a full gym like I would love, but under $100 for a versatile body weight gym? Now we're talking!
Hey there ! Awesome video, I just started with the Recommended Routine from reddit and your rack comes quite in handy and I probably gonna rebuild it :) What do I need to do to make it sustainable for outdoors since I do note have space in my flat but on our terrace. Kind regards , Nicholas

Good stuff, guys! I tried to use the body weight gym SketchUp file, but I’m running SketchUp Make 2017, and it won’t open the newer file. Great build. I was thinking tho, if you extend the feet in the front and brace, you could incorporate a squat rack and bench. Jus a thought. Oh, and lumber has went up in the east since the pandemic. Can you still build that for less than $100 where you are?
I dig your ideas! As for lumber, I doubt it. I was just at lowes, and garbage 2x4s (8') are $7 each. It's awful. My wife works for a home builder, and she said the cost of materials are absolutely skyrocketing as lumber becomes scarce. If you have a project coming up soon that you can't put off, I'll suggest buying your materials sooner than later.
I’ve been looking at building one this past weekend. I like this one. How would you do ab leg lifts on this one? Most pull-up/dip stations on the dips your able to position yourself in there to do ab exercises on this one or incorporate them in there?
Great content. If you’re really serious about your health you need to fix your diet first. I say give intermittent fasting a try. It’s a lot easier than you think. It’s also life-changing. All the working out in the world will never fix or overcome a bad diet. Best of luck!
